Scarlett & The Fellas Celebrate at WDW (June 20 - 29) - Pre-Trip Report! - UPDATED 6/20 - Page 4 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Love, Love your PTR! Sounds like you've got everything under control.
"Under control" is one thing I'm NOT, but I'm so glad you think so - I must hide it well.

You are in for a great trip girlie and I can't wait to read all about it!
Awww! I really hope Brandon is able to get in the "Disney spirit" too. And thanks for the compliment on Brian's smile - his mom says to thank her for 3 years of very expensive braces.

What a great start...Brian and Brandon sound like the perfect traveling companions (you look great together as well). What a great time you will have showing the World off to a couple of newbies (well one newbie and one just barely touched the surface newbie). I still cannot believe that the poor child thought he as going to go look at statues for 10 days (love your Disney math by the way).
Great ADR choices...can't wait to hear all about it (yes I was a loyal reader of the fam dam 2007 report) but I am returning...I have great faith in the completion of this report
Have a great trip Scarlett....
I'd like to know where you bottle is as well, so I can steal a swig. Seriously, thanks so much for the well wishes! And the faith! Gotta keep the faith-a, says George Michael!
I can't believe I'm just finding this now. (Darn kids and those summer activities are getting in the way of my PP fun!!) Your writing is hilarious, I'm glued to this TR now. Totally excited for all of you and can NOT WAIT to hear how it all goes!!!! It's almost here already, can you believe it??

Scarlett, because you've done the planning, I know your fellas will have a great time at WDW looking at statutes and stuff. I guess you've showed Brandon one too many photos of you in front of the Partners statue! I'm thrilled that you're outta the Donkey Butt stage and have found a keeper. It only makes me sorry that I won't be able to meet Brian and Brandon. Next time, consult with us before booking, mmm-kay? But I can't wait to read all about it!! Hurry back!
As a fellow member of the Epcot Lush Club who always finishes her TRs, even if liquored-up while doing so, I must say that it's on now and I'll bug you to keep up with this one!!

Mickey's so happy to see me back, he can barely contain himself!
I loved your first post about the background of everyone. Sounds like you've found someone special. Also, loved the pics of Brian in the tea cups. It sounds like you’re going to have a great time!
I too can't believe Brandon thought it was statues and stuff to look at. Glad he has more to look forward to.
P.S. I was going to be one of those parents that was going to wait to take their kid(s) to WDW until they were old enough (i.e. potty trained at least), but we couldn't wait and took DS for his 1st birthday last October, plus we just went in June and going back in December! Hope that makes you feel a little better about mothers.
I realized that before I post random ramblings, I should go over my itinerary!
Saturday, June 20: (TWO DAYS FROM NOW!) -12 noon: Depart Home. Brian and Brandon are coming over to my piece a little early so we can do any luggage re-organization needed. My parents are nice enough to drive us to the airport (in exchange for lots of goodies being brought home) -12:45 pm (yes I really do break it down by the quarter hour): Arrive at RDU. Double-check to make sure no one has non-approved items for flight (Brian, I’m talking to you and your pocketknife) -2:45 pm: God-willing, flight takes off on-time… -4:25 pm: Land at MCO, boogey our way down to Disney’s Magical Express
I’m definitely hoping to be at POR by 5:30 at the very latest. We’ll check in, briefly get settled and then head over to the Boardwalk to try the ESPN Club. If there’s a super long wait, we’ll probably grab some counter-service somewhere. We might do some Downtown Disney tonight as well, or just head back for a little swim before bed. No need to unpack much since we’re transferring tomorrow…
Sunday, June 21: We’re moving resorts today, so I want to try and take it pretty easy – letting the boys get accustomed to the World, the resort, etc.
-9:00 am: I’d like to be ready to check out of POR and head over to the WL by this time. We plan on using Bell Services to take our stuff and using Disney transportation to get ourselves over there (bus to MK, boat to WL), but we may just say “forget it” and grab a cab.
After checking in and getting our KTTW cards, we’ll bebop over to the Magic Kingdom. I hope our room is ready for us to dump our stuff, but if not, we’ll leave it with Bell Services and get it later. Lunch is CS at the Magic Kingdom. We don’t plan on staying too long today – hopefully the room will be ready by 2:00 pm (if it wasn’t earlier) and we’ll be back to the resort by then.
Pool/Relax break until –
5:05 ADR at Whispering Canyon Café. Yee-Haw!
After the Wild West fun, we’re heading over to DHS for the last couple of hours of the night (closes at 9). If we are feeling particularly energetic, MK has EMH tonight from 12 – 3 am, but I’ll be shocked if we partake. (this old lady goes to bed by 10:30 pm on a “normal” night)
Monday, June 22: 8:00 am - EMH at DHS. If, for some unfortunate reason, we aren’t able to get there by opening (unfortunate for B&B, ‘cause you know it’d be all their fault), we’ll change the plans and go to Epcot.
Park until about noon, then heading back to the resort for a nappy nap/pool break.
Epcot around 3:30, with a 4:20 pm ADR at Tepan Edo
We don’t plan on hanging around Epcot too long tonight – Animal Kingdom has EMH from 7 – 10 pm, and I LOVE this park at night. I hope to be at the AK by 8:00.
Tuesday, June 23: Morning to sleep in and relax. I’d like to explore the resort a little more; Brandon is interested in renting a Sea Racer, this might be a good time to do that. If I decide I need a sanity break from the boys, I might get up early and go to a park by myself.
Typhoon Lagoon around lunchtime. I am a little skeptical at getting to TL this late in the day, but TourGuideMike really recommends it. I understand the logic behind it - most of the early-risers have left and things start to clear out – fingers crossed!
Back to the resort around 6:00 pm. 7:55 pm ADR at O’Hana. No plans after that. Epcot has EMH tonight, but I think Epcot’s evening EMH is pretty lame, so I doubt we’ll head over.
Wednesday, June 24: Epcot at park-opening. If we visited Epcot on Monday, we’ll do DHS at park-opening instead.
Return to resort after lunch. Break (Scarlett’s nap) and then heading to the Magic Kingdom. We’ve got a 5:05 pm ADR for Tony’s Town Square. Afterwards, it’s Spectromagic and Wishes time, baby! The MK is open to midnight tonight.
Thursday, June 25: Animal Kingdom at park-opening. We plan on staying until 3:00 pm-ish or when the heat finally gets the best of us.
Tonight is “date-night” for me and Brian. We have a 7:30 ADR at Spoodles, just the two of us. This will probably be Brandon’s favorite night of the trip – he gets to do what he loves most: sit in front of the TV. You think I’m kidding. He’s to the age now where Brian feels fine leaving him by himself for a few hours, and we’ll give him some $$ for dinner at Roaring Forks or pizza delivery.
Brian and I may pop over to Epcot after Spoodles – Epcot has EMH tonight, and I know I just got done saying I hate Epcot’s EMH, but we’d only be going for the atmosphere.
Friday, June 26: No plans this morning! We may sleep in, do some swimming and stuff at the resort, we may get up and go to a park, just depends.
I’d like to be at Epcot around 3:00 pm. We have a 5:30 ADR at Restaurant Marrakesh, and tonight I’d like to grab a great spot for Illuminations.
Saturday, June 27: Magic Kingdom at Park Opening. We don’t really plan to stay too long (since Brandon’s past the Fantasyland-age and three of my favorite attractions [Hall of Presidents, Space Mountain, and TTA] are down, I don’t see us spending an abundance of time in the MK) and hope to return to the resort for a break by noon.
3:40 ADR at Sci-Fi Dine In Theatre at DHS. I’d like to get there early enough to catch the parade (haven’t seen the new one), but that’s negotiable. I don’t have any plans for Fantasmic tonight (it’s really not a favorite of mine), so we plan on spending the evening doing other DHS stuff.
Sunday, June 28: No plans to get a super-early start, but we do have to check out of WL. I think we’ll definitely have our bags transferred this time and go straight to DTD for a little retail-therapy. After I’ve done my damage, we’ll head to POFQ and check in.
We have a 4:45 pm ADR at Le Cellier, so the late-afternoon will be in Epcot. After dinner, I have no preference as to which park we spend out last few hours in. If the boys want to go back to the MK or DHS, that’s fine.
Monday, June 29: DME will be picking us up at POFQ around 10:00 am (WAAAAAAAAAAAA!), so there’ll really be little time for much of anything. There won’t be much packing to do (we’ll have done most of it prior to our WL-POFQ transfer), so we’ll just sleep in a bit and get some breakfast.
Our flight departs MCO at 1:05 pm, landing in RDU at 2:50. Brian’s friend Bailey will be picking us up and we should be home around 4:00 or 4:30.
WDW - August 1997 Off Property
WDW - January 2005 AKL
WDW - May 2006 Pop Century
WDW- november-dec 2007 pop century
WDW- dec/jan 2009/2010 pop century
WDW- oct/nov 2012 art of animation
WDW- sept 2013 port Orleans riverside
WDW- july 2015 beach club
The plans sound great - relaxing, lots of breaks and total flexability, can't get better than that (ok it can with a FB in one hand) but with the flexability that is definitely doable...
As a fellow member of the Epcot Lush Club who always finishes her TRs, even if liquored-up while doing so, I must say that it's on now and I'll bug you to keep up with this one!!
And don't think she won't -- my back has been poked and prodded so many times since March, it's gone numb.
Scarlett, I can't tell you how excited I am about your upcoming trip and the "fellas" too -- seems like a keeper family!
Can't wait to read the story upon your return (unless, of course, you've arranged for "love" updates! And I hereby volunteer!)
