How are your mousefest plans going? - Page 4 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I'm so jealous - wish I could go to the MVMCP meets! Unfortunately - I cannot take off Friday - although I am leaving early (haven't told my boss yet!) We might still hit an MVMCP on either Sunday or Tuesday, but I'm not sure - we're going to wait and see!
My plans are moving along also! I bought return tickets on Southwest 2 months ago - since they were offering an $89 fare. I held off on our outgoing tickets - since they were consistently $119-129. I thought they might go down with a DING, although that's doubtful on a Friday afternoon. December dings finally came out this week - although none to Orlando - BUT - my daily checking paid off - and as of this morning - the 3:55 pm flight (nonstop - gets in at 7:15 pm) - was down to $89 as well!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yay!!! So - now I've got tickets - for under $200 each!
Got some good ADRs made - although I'm sure we'll do some tweaking - most are new - although Jennie's one request was to go to the Prime Time for our dinner together on Tuesday evening (she's committed to chorus until Tuesday - and we leave LATE on Wednesday). Some things never change - this is her favorite restaurant - anywhere!
So - plenty of new ressies made for 3 - and the old faithful ressie is made for 5 - she's going to bring along her roommate, who's also in chorus.
I got a DING and a flight reduction on the first leg of my trip so I used the credit in addition to my SW Ding fare for a return flight ($54 woohoo!) and now all I have left to do is buy my AP!
I got a DING and a flight reduction on the first leg of my trip so I used the credit in addition to my SW Ding fare for a return flight ($54 woohoo!) and now all I have left to do is buy my AP!
I got a Ding yesterday on my return flight - so I saved a little bit ($21 - but every little bit helps - right?)
Final payment to be made to our package on payday this week (Thursday)
ADRs are made - although I may cancel a couple - and try for one or two different ones. We'll be on the dining plan, since that was a better discount for us.
Friday - we've got a late ADR at Raglan Road - in case we decide to go to Downtown Disney. We may take advantage of EMH at Epcot instead - still to be decided. I'll be tired - but I'll be in Disney - so I'm sure it'll be a late night either way!
Saturday - Mega Mouse Day! We've never split up in Disney before - but John and Sarah have no interest in the Mega Mouse Meet - and they like to sleep IN - while I'm a perennial early bird - anything past 4 am is sleeping in for me. So - I'll let them sleep in - and do whatever during the am-early PM. I plan on maybe hitting the Studios EMH - then heading over to the Mega Mouse meet. We'll probably meet up for lunch or thereabouts - we've got an ADR for Chefs de France for 6 pm. If we decide to dump that one - we'll meet up with Deb's crew for the Fish & Dessert meet. Either way - we'll be at Maureen's pre-Illuminations meet - can't wait - got my topper!
Sunday - planning on Debe's ornament meet, and got my ornament already. We have an ADR for The Wave currently (John wanted to eat at Concourse - but that's not gonna happen - Sarah and I got two last meals in without him.) I'm a little worried about this one - I'll like it, I'm sure - but it might be a little too healthy and organic for John's plain jane tastes. Tried to get in to 'Ohana -but no luck. Jennie gets in around 10 am on Sunday - but she'll be committed to hang with the choir for rehearsals and such.
Monday - gonna go with the flow - I'm thinking either Studios or AK - since we haven't hit either one yet - and Sarah is hooked on Expedition Everest. We'll need to head over to Epcot midafternoon - we've got 4 something reservations at Coral Reef for our CP dinner - then it's off to listen to my Jennie!!!! We'll be guaranteed seats for the 6:45 show - then John and Sarah will probably head off somewhere - but I'm planning on listening to the 8:15 show too! Even if I don't get in standby.
Tuesday - We've got 50's Prime Time ressies for this night for 5 - Jennie and her friend Alisha will be joining us (this was Jennie's one request!) So - I'm thinking this would be a good night for the Osborne Lights since we'll miss the Friday night meet. Of course - this would be a good night for MVMCP too - but I'm not sure we'll want to do this again (done it several times before).
Wednesday - we've got almost a full day today - our flight doesn't leave till 9 pm. We've got an ADR for Crystal Palace for 8:10 - but we may change that one if we decide on a different park. John loves the CP breakfast - but Sarah thinks she's too cool for characters. We'll probably tour a bit with Jennie & Lisha this day. They don't head out till noon on Thursday.
WOW, Great Plans Marie
Sure hope you can make the Fish & chips! Don't forget the extra added fun of the Seagull fish toss Smoething not to be missed...

I'm trying to decide whether to get an AP (the family is making plans to go to WDW next October), or bring a couple of passes that I'm certain have days left and check at Guest Services for what remains on them, if anything.
Decisions, decisions! Any advice?

Paid in full today (Why let Disney have the money any earlier than I need to?) I miss my AP days - but those won't happen again for a few more years - too many college tuitions! I much prefer the pay one night deposit - and the balance on check in!
Made my room requests - ADR's are made (?change?) - a few meets are planned - and my CP package to go see my daughter are in place!
My ornament and topper are purchased, starting work on the master spreadsheet - although John wants to play it cool this trip. I'm hoping he'll come around and want to join in the fun! He's a relax and enjoy kind of guy - I'm a commando kind of girl!
Pulled the suitcases out (since Sarah needed her duffel for environmental camp) and started tossing in a few essentials! Pin Lanyards, ponchos, etc.
I won't pack in earnest for a few weeks yet- but I'm getting so excited!!
Paid the package portion of our trip in full last Friday - Disney Visa Free Dining - Will wait till check in to pay the first 3 days room-only.
Just confirmed our ADR's & got them consolidated under my cellphone number - we'll be eating quite well on this trip - Le Cellier, Coral Reef & several character breakfasts! Scored a bunch of extra Disney Visa Reward Dollars by signing up for the bonus earnings - should pay for a good chunk of our out-of-pocket meals!
Car rental - got a pretty decent deal (AP discount) thru Alamo - this will be our first time renting a car for our entire visit - previously we'd get a car just for day 1 - airport to WDW with grocery stop/outlet shopping, then dropping it at the Car Care Center.
Have a bunch of Mousefest meets planned - I have an idea for ornaments for the exchange - will see how it/they come out before committing to that.
