The Prince Charming has met his match trip report - 8/23 - 9/1 at Pop - UPDATED 9/21 - Final installment - Page 4 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I'm loving your updates, it sounds like you are having a fantastic time!
What part of MI are you from? Smilechaser's neck of the woods?
Actually we are nowhere near Smilechaser's neck of the woods. We reside in Battle Creek. Actually only about an hour and a half south of where you are, Belmont Belle! We have been to Grand Rapids a few times. Most recently to see High School Musical on ice last Spring.
Glad you are enjoying the updates. I am certainly having fun writing them and reliving that wonderful week while I'm doing it! It was truly a wonderful, Magical vacation! And I haven't even gotten to the point where Cinderella was sooo impressed with me, Prince Charming was asking me for advice!! (Just a little teaser of things to come)

What a great couple of days...sounds like you and Smilechaser had a great time with all the kids....loved the lunch at Norway, glad your daughter got to see her favorite Princess (and at the Grotto too) and that you got to see your "special lady" a few times as well (great photo of the two of you )

More, more, more! I know you'll have plenty of time this weekend since we are having more rain and you will trapped in the house! Love reading these, its like being on vacation all over again!
That pic of Brendan asking Sleeping Beauty about going to the bathroom is pricesless, Brent! OMG! That just so captures the whole innocence of his personality. He wonders, he asks! Gotta love that kid!!! He is sooooo much like his daddy sometimes!!!
Btw...check out the cool shirt I am wearing in the photo of Brent and I at RnRC.....it has my absolute fave, Tinkerbell, on it and says "A pinch of pixie, and a dash of attitude." hhmmmm, me? attitude? Brent made that for me, impressive!!! He just has so many hidden talents, you all have no idea!! The one he wore earlier in the TR that says "so many princesses, so little time" still cracks me up! Never a dull moment with that guy around, I tell ya!!

I noticed his shirt earlier in the TR! I was literally laughing out loud to the point where the dogs and DBF came to see what was going on.
What a great update!!! I love love LOVE your DS's question to Aurora!!! Comments like that are just priceless and how wonderful you were able to capture a picture of that moment
Thursday Aug 28, 2008 -
Up again just before dawn for my morning ritual: The walk to the Food Court to fill up my coffee mug, walk around the resort to drink my coffee, fill it up again then head back to the room to rally the troops. No Mickey waffle breakfast for the boy this time as we had Breakfast with the Princesses at Epcot! I donned my “A Pirates life for me” Shirt , and Jordan my daughter chose her “A little bit Pirate, A little bit Princess” Shirt: Thus our theme for the day! Took the rental car and got to Epcot right on time for our 8:30 reservation. The Featured Princess was Belle again. Very nice! We were seated promptly and had a very nice breakfast. Saw Snow White for the first time on this trip! As you all know, Cinderella is my number one and one and only, but it was nice to see Snow again, too!
Dont't tell Cindy!
Not wanting to complain here, but once again our server did absolutely nothing to make this experience memorable. This character meal was one of our highlights last year, but this year it was really average. We did see a rare princess though: Mulan! She was delightful. After breakfast we headed to Future world and went on the rides: Test Track, Mission Space, Soarin, Living with the land, Nemo, Spaceship Earth then back to Pop for a dip and Lunch. Here are some pictures of us as we left:
Aren’t we quite the good looking family??
After lunch it was off to Typhoon Lagoon. We love this place! Love the laid back theme, the music, the wave pool, the wandering paths that end up at water slides, and the lazy river that runs all through it. We closed the water park down that day!
Back at the resort, Jordan met up with Smilechaser and the girls for their long planned sleepover (Where they arranged for Smilechaser to wake up with a smelly little furry visitor! (See earlier post!) So Brendan and I had some alone time in the pool and went to the arcade. We got up the next morning and went to Hollywood Studios to ride Toy Story Mania. Good ride, but not nearly good enough for the wait and the hassle we had to go through to ride it, in my humble opinion. Hung around the Studios until Lunch then back to the resort to get my lovely daughter back. She told how successful the skunk-planting mission was! I am very proud of my little girl! From there we just hung around the pool and absolutely BAKED in the sun. It was so hot and I was loving it soooo much. The kids were in the pool, I was in my lounge chair, enjoying my favorite adultish beverage in my Mickey Mug (No glass allowed poolside!). We spent most of the afternoon this way and I had no complaints. I sooo did not want to go back to Michigan. Some people were complaining about the heat but I was really liking this. I think I could retire here and drive the Disney bus. When it came dinner time we headed to the Grand Floridian and 1900 Park Fare. Wasn’t real sure about this one because we were coming to 1900 Park Fare again in a few nights with Smilechaser and her girls for a ‘last night dinner’. But we had the reservations and we were hungry so off we went! Now don’t get me wrong, the Grand Floridian is a wonderful, fantastic, swanky, elegant place. We just kind of felt like a fish out of water here. (What is that thing in the grand lobby that looks like a giant bird cage, anyway?) Anyway, dinner was pretty good and my beloved Cinderella was there!!!!! Alas, so was Prince Charming. L He did seem like a very nice young man though. He was obviously intimidated by me, I could tell! We just didn’t really get into the whole vibe of the dinner this night. Cinderella was great as always , but with the stepsisters there she just seemed more subdued. The dinner was good but not what any of us really expected. Anastasia found out Jordan’s favorite princess was Ariel, so she called her the ‘Fish-Girl’. Not at all well received by my little girl! After it was over my kids actually did not want to come back with Smilechaser and the girls a few days later. (But boy was I glad we did! You’ll see!) After dinner it was off to Disneyquest which was fun as always! Really missed the Cheesecake factory though!
A few pictures:
In this one Druzilla had just made fun of my shirt and Brendan blurted out how his Daddy is Cinderellas biggest fan, check our reactions! She even spun my Cinderella necklace around so it was on my back so she didn't have to look at it, or was she trying to choke me? look at my neck!
Here are a few pictures of us fooling around at the resort that day. The kids take turns climbing on the Foosball while the other one pretends to kick it. They do love each other, Really they do! Honest!!!
Next: Final installment including a wonderful breakfast at the castle and the most memorable, wonderful night of the trip for me! It was such a great evening for me that Prince Charming comes to me for advice on how to impress Cinderella! Will I help the boy out? Stay tuned to find out! Oh, and I manage to brush off a wicked stepmother!
I'll try to finish it up this weekend! Thanks to everyone for reading!
Brent

Great update Brent. Love all the pics. We weren't as impressed with 1900 Park Fare as some of the other character meals. It was okay, but much more subdued as you said. Hurry back. Looking forward to more.

Oh but 1900 Park Faire was anything but subdued a few nights later when we went with Smilehchaser and the girls. Stay tuned!!!
