Rock You Like a Hurricane! Trip Report for Smilechaser and girls! - Page 4 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Glad the sun finally came out.
DS wouldn't let the photopass photographer take his picture for the Simba picture. No amount of pleading and begging from me would change his mind either.

DAY 6 Monday 8/25: I woke up on this day and thought to myself.....Hmmmm, do I see sunshine peeking in the window between the curtains? No, couldn't be, covered my head and tried to go back to sleep. Curiousity got the best of me.....I got up and, full of hope, went to the window, slowly pulling back the curtains......"OMG....Hippity Do Da Mickey!!!! Get up kids!!! Get up....Hurry.....I think the sun is out, unless its a mirage and I am dreaming." We all got up and went out on the balcony and enjoyed the warm warm sun.....ahhhhhh! Well, all of us except for my 17 year old DD, Ashleigh, who snarled something along the lines of "if I have to come out on that balcony at this hour you are going over it". ....I'm sure I must have heard the dear girl wrong. LOL
Sooooo, today, this gorgeous, sunny day we gathered up with Disdadnmi and the kidlettes and headed to Blizzard Beach. This is how excited I was about the sun! .....I had the first ever trip planned to LeCellier for lunch and canceled it that morning to take advantage of the true florida beauty. Well, that and Disdadnmi and the kids are super fun to hang out with in the water parks!!.... even when they are trying to push you down the stairs with an inner tube, I mean they accidently back up and realize that you are there. LOL So the first thing we did was head to the family raft ride! I think this is a fave for all of us! It was great! We were hoping for a photopass photographer at the bottom like last year but I think it was too early and they were still sleeping. Ya know, like til noon, like teenagers. LOL We had an awesome day!! Everytime I come home from Disney and I am looking back it seems as if some of my best times were had at the water parks.
We called it an early day there and headed back to POP to cool off, get some lunch and get ready to go to Epcot. We had dinner reservations at San Angel Inn. When we walked into Epcot it was still beautiful and sunny, we rode test track and a few small things, the kids always love that aquatic center, then hurried off to dinner. This was our first time here too, we are all huge mexican food fans and thought we would just love it. No one was overly impressed.--pic attached-- As a matter of fact we ate at the SA Cafe later in the week and all agreed that was much much better!
About mid way thru dinner the rain started to pound the roof, I mean it sounded like running elephants. We stalled around the gift shop for awhile and it seemed to slow down so we headed out the door. About the time we set foot on the walkway the sky became dark and it rained the like crazy!!!! We decided to call it a day and head back to the resort. "to the front of the park, girls!!!" About the time we hit Germany, and I could see thru the torential rain for the first time, I thought....."hhmmmmm Germany is NOT between the front of the park and Mexico".......OOooopppppsssss! As the man in Magical Express said earlier in the trip report....."ummm girls, this is kinda funny but....." Hint, it wasn't funny the first time we heard it and it was even less funny at this time!!! LOL I am not kidding you, we were running in water up past our ankles!! Everyone else was sporting their rain wear. Nope, not us. we forgot it, we didn't need it.......instead of stubborn I like to refer to it as 'strong willed'....LOL. Seriously some of the funniest things we talk about this trip was all the fun we had and how much water clothing can actually hold. We finally get to the front of the park.....via Germany of course, hop a bus back to the resort and who is standing there waiting for us.....LOL. Yep, Disdadnmi and the kids. They just looked at us and burst out laughing. Brent said something about 'are you ready to buy rain ponchos yet?'. Here is where my stubborn/stupidity kicks in. "no man is going to be right and tell me what to do, I won't buy ponchos now no matter what!" Yeah, I showed him alright! LOL Men, there is a valuable lesson here.....let HER think it is HER idea and things will go alot smoother! Remember this because it all becomes even funnier the last day of the trip. Well, funnier or evil depending on how you look at it! LOL
DAY 7 Tuesday 8/26: This was our morning to finally go to MK and see the castle. Ahhhhh, we waited way too long for this! My youngest 2 DD, Victoria and Cheyenne, and I had breakfast reservations at the castle with the beautiful and enchanted, Cinderella. We were so excited! We got up early, leaveing my 2 oldest DD, Ashleigh and Kimmie, behind to sleep in and catch up to us later. They didn't want to do the castle breakfast this year, instead they wanted some teen time to do other things.....hhmmmmpphh, go figure! So we arrived at the park before it officially opened, I was surprised that they didn't question us at the gate about reservation numbers or anything. But so be it, we headed to the castle, they actually got us in about 30 minutes early. So we were waiting in line to get our photos taken and there she was..... Cinderella!!!! Oh my baby, Cheyenne, was so excited. So was I actually but I hear if you take kids along people don't look at you so strange. LOL Ok, ok all kidding aside, I am jealous as heck of that lady. She is like....ummmm perfect! It was so cool to be standing there next to Cinderella though! She signed my DD's hat, who by the way she had signed by all the princesses while we were there.....how cool is that! It was great! Breakfast was just magical. Something about being in that castle is just special, I can't say what exactly it is, its magical, like maybe sometimes fairy tales do come true?? Leave your worries at the door?? I don't know, its pnenominal though! The wishing ceremony was gorgeous.--pic attached-- I even made a wish, even though I will never admit that to anyone who is: a) not a child, or b) not a passporter! The rest of the day was awsome! I mean remarkably awesome. We hit the triple mountain whammy, haunted mansion...all the good stuff.....heck its all good there! Seeing Ariel at the Grotto was way too cool for words!! --see attached pic-- We really played hard this day! The only thing we all regret not doing was the race track , I'm not sure how that got overlooked. We spent alot of time in toon town, which is just a wonderful place!!
Dinner was at Tonys Town Square. A must for us every trip! We sooo love that place. It was as good as ever! A great dinner to top off an exceptional day.
