Hey, let's take my brother to Disney Pre-Trip Report - UPDATED 7/11 - Page 4 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Imagine the scene: 6:30 a.m. on a Sunday morning. Hubby has to work this morning which works out just fine for me since I need to make ADR’s! Unfortunately, Disney Dining doesn’t open until 7:00 a.m. Grr. I could have gotten another 30 minutes of sleep – if hubby could quietly splash around and brush the teeth in the bathroom. No soup for me (borrowing from Seinfeld)
Ok, so I get out my spreadsheet and firm up approximate times. And finally I can call – only to be on hold for a bit. My call is answered by a woman who scarcely has a grasp on the English language, let alone the common niceties of a good morning. Can someone get that woman a cup of coffee? I tell her what I want and we make the first of several dining reservations. Then she proceeds to tell me that without a hotel reservations/AAA confirmation number I can not make any further ADR’s. What? When did that start? I’m not a Disney newbie and I can tell you that I’ve never been asked for that information before. No soup for me – again. I thank her and hang up.
After rooting around in paperwork I find the AAA papers then call Dining back. This time there was no wait and I got a nice woman by the name of Patricia, who already had her coffee and was happy to make my ADR’s. With one exception: Yak and Yeti who it seems has some funky rule about only making dining reservations at only the 180 mark – not further ahead (even though it’s 180 + 10) Whatever. Let’s hope I can remember to call back this Wednesday…
So, at the present time this is what the ADR schedule will be:
Friday, December 19: Spoodles at 7:05 p.m. First night dinner and Spoodles is our new favorite. We’ve stayed at the Boardwalk the past two years so hubby is having a case of resort envy this year since we’re taking The Boy and we have to stay in a Moderate *gasp*
Saturday, December 20: Crystal Palace at 8:05 a.m. I have to have my Pooh Bear fix so only hubby and I will be dining here. The Boy will getting beauty sleep.
Saturday, December 20: Teppan Edo at 7:00 p.m. We have decided to forego a Candlelight Processional package this year. Neither one of the men in my party are all that excited. This was the reaction I got from both of them when I suggested it: “What’s the big deal about somebody we don’t know reading the Night Before Christmas?” No soup for me. I told my hubby that we will be doing it next year (thanks to Annual Passes baby!)
Sunday, December 21: Coral Reef at 5:55 p.m. We’ve never eaten here before so this will be a good experience. The Boy is a seafood fiend and it will be interesting to see what he chooses
Monday, December 22: Yak and Yeti at ????. Beats me. It remains to be seen what the dining Gods have ordained.
Tuesday, December 23: Earl of Sandwich for lunch (no ADR obviously) We’ll probably do some shopping at DDD – ok I will shop the boys will keep asking if I’m done yet.
Tuesday, December 23: Kona Café at 6:30 p.m. Everyone’s eaten here before and it’s a favorite. We’re going to do the MK after dark. Woohoo!
Wednesday, December 24 (Bonus Day) Liberty Tree Tavern at noon. I got tripped up here because mid way through the ressie I realized that lunch is not a character experience. That’s not good! I wanted to embarrass The Boy but we’re leaving around 2:00 so we can’t stay for dinner. Oh well, I’ll look at the schedule and see what’s going on.
Other interesting things to note for the trip: Annual Passes cost $477.00 per adult. We have the money for one and so far we’ve saved $150.00 toward the second one. Save your loose change because it does add up!
sorry about your non ceffeinated cm
but glad you got another one who had a clue
sounds great
pixies to getting a yak and yeti adr
hurry back with more please
for Y&Y..we ate lunch there and enjoyed it.
We've also eaten at R&C...twice for lunch and once for dinner. We found it to be quite tasty!
Hope you can work in an embarrassment for The Boy....isn't that what big sisters are supposed to do?
Can't wait to hear more!
I just read through from start to finish and what great plans you've got for this vacation - I hope the Boy does save enough up to come with you guys.
As for the "bland" English food, I couldn't help but laugh. Unfortunately the Rose and Crown isn't exactly what I'd call genuine English food, but the last thing you would call proper English food is bland. You guys will have to come over here and experience a curry to see what I mean!
I agree Cheryl about the food description. My husband isn't what you'd call a culinary hero and he's from Trinidad and a West Indian to boot! We cook a fair amount of curry dishes at home, believe me, but once hubby gets an idea (no matter how wrong or absurd) in his mind, it's difficult to change it. I do want to eat at the Rose and Crown and I suppose we'll have to do it next year...kicking and screaming.

That's too funny. I can't wait to see how you get him into the Rose and Crown...
Just a quick update. Upon reflecting about those last two ADR's, I decided I couldn't pass up the opportunity to embarrass The Boy. This morning I called Disney Dining back and switched The Liberty Tree Tavern to the 23rd at 6:30 so we can dine with the characters. If I'm lucky they will be in Christmas finery. My hubby is already anticipating being able to film the event with the camcorder then post it on Facebook. We all three have Facebook accounts so it should be funny...
