Springtime Jaunt to Disneyland: Final Days and Final Thoughts: COMPLETE 6/11/08 - Page 4 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Glad you could sleep in a bit...glad Chuck is remaining fairly calm now that he is cut off from work....my DH would be sure the ship was sinking without him!
No wonder you could only eat one quarter of your Monte Cristo, that thing was huge!
Glad you are going to meet Pooh and the Gang.

Sorry about the Blackberry, but at least he could replace it. Thom is tied to the hip with his which makes me so happy that once I'm home from work, I'm done.
Great morning! And I hope that you returned that evil eye with one of your own - - only way to fight those things!
Great update, Dawn! Blue Bayou looks scrumptious! Glad you enjoyed Indy and the HM, but to hear that Chuck lost his blackberry. You'd think men would listen to us, but they never seem to think we know anything!! Can't wait to hear more
Didn't you know it was your job to stop the train whistle from blowing? Glad Chuck was able to get his blackberry replaced. Next time maybe he'll take your advice and hand over the electronics.

Day 2, Part 2: Hearing a Little Girl Squeal in Delight and Some Classic Fantasyland Rides
Day 2, Part 2: Hearing a Little Girl Squeal in Delight and Some Classic Fantasyland Rides
After being disappointed in not getting to ride Splash right away, we headed over to the meet and greet area for the Pooh characters. We hopped in line and started talking to the CMs working the lines. Only Pooh was out at this point so I had to ask when Eeyore was supposed to return. She told me in about 30 minutes. Well, we knew the line for Pooh was going to take at least 10 minutes so we would have to stay in the area as I was not going to miss this opportunity. We made it up to Pooh and Chuck said it was all me. So, after a hug and help in holding the autograph book so he could sign, pictures were taken by both Chuck and Photopass.
So we get out of line and decide what we need to do to waste some time. Shopping of course! We went into the Pooh themed store and wandered for a bit. No new beanies for me to buy and nothing else had that buy me now vibe. We decided to go grab a couple of waters as we were getting a little parched. By the time we got back to the meet and greet area, the line had definitely gotten longer. We decided to get into line and if we happened to get to the front of the line before Eeyore came out, we would let people in front of us. While waiting I took some pictures of the scenery around us.
As I was looking round, I saw my gloomy fellow emerge from behind a fence and a squeal actually left my mouth. The guests next to us even commented that I was really excited. He shuffled his way to the cattle lines and took Pooh’s place. Then Tigger appeared and hopped his way to the second area. Cool!! Two for one! We waited patiently and finally I got to see my pal.
He didn’t show a lot of love but I finally got to see him at DL so I was happy. Next was Tigger and he was really happy to see me. The CM told hm we had been waiting a long time to see him which made him start bouncing.
After our time with the Pooh characters, we headed over to grab a ride on Big Thunder Mountain Railroad before heading over to Fantasyland. FP was not being used and it was only showing a 20 minute wait so we headed on in. I spent the time waiting in line taking pictures of the scenery and theming of the queue. Even though I had been on this ride more than once, I was amazed at how much detail the queue had.
I took probably 20 pictures so at least I have a good amount for a scrapbook layout. Anywho, we made it through the line and were directed to the first train! We get situated and start on the wildest ride in the wilderness. Now Chuck had control of the bag and had it situated between us but still around his body. At one point during the ride, I looked down to see my camera halfway sticking out of the bag. Somehow, the zipper had opened and the camera had pushed it out farther and was hanging out of the bag. I grabbed the bag and pushed the camera back in and closed the zipper while be tossed back and forth on the ride. I held onto the bag the rest of the ride and still had a great ride.
After disembarking, Chuck handed me the bag and said that he is just not having luck with electronic devices so I was in charge when the camera was in the bag. It was just one of those weird things. We didn’t have any other issues the rest of the trip, but he wanted to be safe. We headed over to Fantasyland to see the first SWARM of people we had really encountered. The line for Dumbo was long so we settled for a picture by the ride vehicle instead.
We headed over to the Teacups as I knew that the line would go quickly. I noticed the ride vehicle outside of the ride and wanted a picture. The couple in front of us were trying to do a self-portrait so I offered to take their picture. They nicely returned the favor for us.
We had maybe a 5 finute wait to get into our teacup. Now I can only ride the teacups if I have something to focus on. So, I spend the ride concentrating on my darling husband’s face. I never look away. He always starts pointing to things and trying to get me to look in that direction. Never do I lose my mark. I did try and take a picture while on the ride. I succeeded but did get a litle ight headed while doing it.
Before the ride started
During the ride
After our semi-wild ride on the teacups, we went directly into the line for Alice in Wonderland. We had maybe a 5-10 minute wait and we were boarding our catepillar. Chuck sat in the back so I could get clear shots for pictures. What a sacrifice!!
Chuck was getting hungry so we decided to head over to Tomorrowland as we wanted some pizza from Redd Rocket’s Pizza Port! We enjoyed it so much the last time we were here, we knew we had to eat there again. Before we headed over, Chuck wanted a picture of me in front of the White Rabbit’s house.
There was no line whatsoever so we looked at our choices and just decided on pizza. Chuck decided to go with the pepperoni, and I had my favorite….hawaiian!! We grabbed some drinks and headed to the register to pay. Well, there was a moon shaped rice krispie treat that Chuck could not resist, so that was added to our tray. $18 dollars later we were sitting in a booth enjoying the gooey goodness of the pizza.
We both finished out slice and the rice krispy treat went into the bag for later. We went and grabbed a FP for Space Mountain and then headed into Tomorrowland to tackle the other rides.
Coming Up: Chuck’s Reign Ends and the Parade of Dreams
Great update, Dawn!! Glad you were able to meet your pal, Eeyore! the photos of Chuck on the teacups! He reminds me of my DH in the first one....looks like he's saying something like, 'That's enough with the camera' Can't wait to hear more
