*HP7 SPOILER Thread* - Now Open to Discuss here! - Page 4 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

As for Teddy Lupin, they mention that he was over at Harry's all the time for dinner, but who raised him, if not Harry? Tonks's dad died; did her mom survive?
Tonks said that she had left Teddy with her mother and that she knew she'd look after him. I would assume that is who raised him.
I'm typing this before I read most of the posts in this thread. So forgive me if I am repeating or disputing something somebody else has said. Overall, I enjoyed the book and she managed to answer most of my burning questions and tied up most of her plot twists.
That said, I wonder if JKRowling was writing this last book with the movies in the back of her mind. It just seemed to me that way. Even if she had mapped out her intentions years and years ago, it is her perrogative to change her mind once she found out how these characters are such an extraordinary phenomenon. I'm sure when she wrote the outline that even in her wildest dreams she had no idea she would have such a following. I wonder if she changed her mind about putting some parts in that she had originally planned, and ended up "winging" it for some parts. It was still plenty gory and violent, but I was actually surprised, for example, that Hermione lived through her interrogation with Bellatrix. I was totally expecting at least one of the 3 kids to have been killed during the mission.
I was certainly saddened when Dobby, Fred, Lupin and Tonks were killed. And I was confused as to why Ollivander was still alive. I mean, he didn't give Voldemort the answers he needed and anybody else who "failed" him was murdered. So why was Ollivander kept prisoner in a dungeon? There were a few other things I wish there were answers to - the Dursleys & Hermione's parents, for example. I assume they were safe and permitted to return home? And did I miss it? What does Harry do for a living 19 years later? I admit that I was reading the very end of the book when my eyes were drooping and I wanted to sleep, but I had to finish the book before I could put it down!
Well Im glad that I wasnt the only one that found it draggy with the camping out scenes. Reading some of others comments made me understand the whole part of "look into my eyes" and then after I put it all together I was like.....DUH!!!!! He has Lily's eyes!!!!
I cried my eyes out with Doby and loved how she did tie some things in. I just read Book 3 a while ago and read the whole part when Peter escaped and Dumbledore told Harry.....when one saves anothers life, it will not be forgotten. It was interesting to see that she didnt forget about that payback issue.
Wish I knew more about Petunia....I mean I get it, she wrote a letter and Dumbledore said no and that's why she was upset...just guess I was looking for more out of that.
I also wonder why Ron and Hermoine named their daughter Rose. Any one know why? Funny how there is Lily, Petunia and now Rose......Im sure there is no signifigance but maybe someone knows.
I will plan on re-reading it again as I have with all my books. Probably start back at one and go all the way through to seven and catch some more things that I have overlooked in the past. Now it will be interesting to see it all and catch some things now that the last book is out.

I just finished...and I have to say, I'm quite satisfied. I picked up the book reluctantly because I was afraid of what I was going to read. Each time I started reading again, I was afraid of who we were going to lose. The part that really broke my heart was when he used the stone and his mother and father lead him into the forest. I did expect, in the end, for Harry to retireve Teddy and hold him and express his wonderful intentions to be his father...that kind of dissapointed me. The epilogue didn't bother me...it didn't excite me, but I did enjoy hearing who ended up with who. I feel very removed from Harry's children though...almost like they're not worthy of him or something (irrational post-book speaking ) I loved that Snape was good...I really felt it all along, and I'm surely glad that Harry survived. I, like many others, guessed Harry to be a horcrux, and was elated (though somewhat confused) when he survived Voldemort in the forest. I guess I didn't fully understand the "blood" thing, I'll reread I'm saddened that it's over, but happy in the result. I'm happy Harry remained the boy who lived
I thought that Rose and Hugo Weasley were named after Hermione's parents, but that's pure speculation.
I wonder if Voldemort kept Ollivander around just in case he needed a new or repaired wand. (It's also possible that J.K. Rowling kept him around because she needed him to give information to Harry.)
Ok, here's something I wondered about...do you think JK Rowling had any particular reason for choosing Fred Weasley over George Weasley? She made a decision to kill off one of the twins, so, how do you suppose she chose which one? See how my mind works...scary, huh?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Afer I finished the book, I felt a little let down. It was nice to know what happened 19 years later, but I also thought it was sort of cheesy. Then, as I thought about it, I remembered that this is a children's book.
I will have to go back are reread some parts, but overall, I enjoyed the book. NOt my favorite, tho. There definitely could be a series about the Weasley and Potter kids.
I have to agree that there was a lot of stuff going on at Hogwarts that would have been interesting.

I can't believe this picture was taken in 2005, they grow up so fast!
I think that the reason we don't know what was going on at Hogwarts is that everything in these books is seen through Harry's eyes. We are just given enough information to get the idea of what was taking place there.
As far as who comes into their powers, this is pure speculation on my part, but I think it was Neville. He always had powers, but they were never very good. Without someone to follow at Hogwarts, he really came into his own and took charge. I loved that part of it and I was so glad that he was the one to pull the sword out and kill Nagini the last horcrux!
Someone asked why Teddy was at the trian station he was seeing Victoire off. I really liked the book. Yes some spot were slow but the last parts were WOW! I knew Snape did go bad. I bet he asked to stay at Hogwarts so he could protect the kids as best he could. I was happy to see Dumbledore more human.
The Epilogue was pretty cool I think in closed all doors on the 3. Debbi you asked about Fred dieing and not George, I think it's cause George lost an ear so Fred lost his live. I was glad George was fighting else were when Fred died. I had a hard enough time reading with Ron and Precy there. I cried for most everyone. I didn't cry for Crabbe but I did feel bad for him.
When I think of Draco a song by Anthrax comes to mind called "Keep it the Family" there is one bit tpreticular that pops in my head:
"And you don't even know why you feel this way
'Cause Daddy hated this, and Mommy hated that
And your own ability to reason's
like a tire gone flat"
I think that sums up Draco and his goons. It will be interesting if JK dose an adveture with James and Albus.
If you go to the MSNBC website and look at the Today show for 7/26 you can see where JKR has stated the occupations for Harry and Ron as well as answered a lot of the questions I am seeing here. There will be more on Today tomorrow morning from her as well as Sunday night on Dateline.
Did anyone watch the interviews with JK Rowling on the Today show the last couple of mornings?
She mentioned that Ron & Harry are Aurors, and Hermione was pretty far up in the dept. of Magical Law Enforcement. She also stated that Hogwarts had a new Headmaster, as McGonagall was "getting on a bit". She also stated that the character that got a reprieve was Mr. Weasley, and she also said that she never intended to kill off Hagrid.
Down the road, she may write a Harry Potter encyclopedia (I sure hope so!)

I finally got to finish it last night (errr, this morning ). I laughed, I cried, I enjoyed it very much. I'll be rereading all seven books ASAP, now that I have the ending in my head and can read it with those details in mind.
Early on, in one of the Daily Prophet stories, Rita Skeeter said something about waiting until chapters 9-12 and chapter 16 for more info -- I wondered if that was a hint from JKR about what we'd be reading in those chapters, but forgot to go back and check.
Loved Harry's discussion with Dumbledore at the end ... loved that the blue eye in the mirror turned out to be Aberforth ... loved Hermione's reaction to Ron remembering the house elves and Harry's reaction to that ... even loved the last chapter, which answered some of the questions I would have had without it. After the story was over, what else could JKR do? She had to know her readers would be wondering, and she had to anticipate/answer those questions somehow. Worked for me.
Absolutely hated when Ron left Harry and Hermione, even though I knew he'd be back. The scene when he returned just killed me -- especially while he was destroying the locket -- and I cried for Ron, feeling like he was second best. Totally touched by Dobby's burial scene, especially the three boys digging his grave and putting clothes on him. Oh, and when Harry asks whether death hurts, then asks his mom to stay close -- I'm getting teary now, thinking about it! The pensieve scenes were wonderful (SO glad Snape was good and that Harry knows it), and the line about the "unloved" boys got me, too. Even Narcissa whispering to Harry to find out whether Draco was alive got me. Showed a little redemption for the Malfoys -- there's no question they have love, no matter what else is true about them.
I really liked the book. Thought it was one of the best. I really got a giggle out of how possessive that Ginny was of Harry warding off Cho in the room of requirement. I think the lost of Hegwig hit me the hardest. Harry digging Dobby's grave was touching but he always just annoyed me a bit. I really like the last chapter. I would have been really irked having the story end will out some afterstory.
