Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Re: The Outer Banks - revisited... Day Two - Another Update June 26

OMG I can't believe that lady had the nerve to say that! I'm just flabbergasted! I'm so glad you all left them with that food - they totally deserved it!

Your pictures are wonderful and Audrey is adorable!!

Great update! The waitress sounds like a real winner You were eating at a fun, messy, "comfortable" crab shack, not a five-star restaurant! I'm glad you guys stuck to your guns and left. More please!

Melissa I love the pictures. It's funny that you have them, now i can see what the view was. When we got there the lighthouse was already closed so we couldn't go up. Not that I would have. I have the same height issues as you. DH took a similar picture of the lighthouse as you did. How funny is that!

Sounds like the waitress was The Mad Crabber. I'm glad you up and left, I would have done the same thing.

I should add that when we were at Dirty Dick's Dawn flat out told the bartender what happened and the woman said that she personally knows that lady from The Mad Crabber and said that she has serious personal issues....so I guess that explained her "crabby" behavior!

Re: The Outer Banks - revisited... Day Three - Updated June 27

Day Three - Tuesday, June 19 - Adult ADD I think I may have...

We got up this morning to the only rainstorm of the trip. It only rained for a couple of hours though, so we decided to all get ready and drive up to Roanoke and visit the NC Aquarium there. It took us about an hour to get there but it was worth it. Luckily Andy sticks by me b/c I tend to stop and taking a billion pictures hoping to get that one good one. Then I have to stop and look at and read everything...I really think I may have adult ADD...

The - must-do, everyone have their picture made at the fountain in front of the aquarium- shots

Andy, Matt, and Dawn out front of the NC Aquarium in Roanoke

Matt and Dawn...

And me and Andy...

Andy checking out some fishies in the aquarium

Crickey!!! Andy's got a croc coming outta his ear!!

Some little turtles chillin'

The pretty lionfish

My favorite past time...touching the rays

After the aquarium we were all hungrier than a pirate looking for treasure (okay, I've been reading too much of my pirate/ghost book...) So it was time to hit the mecca on the island. I remember back when I went with the guys the first time, all they talked about was The Rundown Cafe and the burgers there were to die for. Well, I must say, that my first experience there lived up to it's reputation. Wonderful burgers...what made them good??? The grease of course! So we drove up a little ways to Mile Marker 1 to the restaurant. We were all excited to introduce Dawn to the Rundown (Lori doesn't eat beef). Sure enough, the burgers were still just as good as before. I describe them like this.... you know how a hot, fresh Krespy Kreme doughnut melts in your mouth when you bite into it???? The burgers here do the SAME THING!! Man oh man, I'm salivating just thinking about it......

I was also happy to see that they still had my froo froo drink on the menu...the Shark Attack! It's vodka and lemonade with a splash of grenadine, but the grenadine (which is red) is inside this rubber shark, and you have to pour it into your drink, like BLOOD EWWWW But, whew, those things are as good as the burger... I had 3!

After the meal Dawn and I purchased a shirt (I have mine from 5 years ago on right now as I type this....comfy!!!) We got in the car and I realized I had left my sharks on the table. You can't leave the sharks behind, so Dawn goes running back in to get them (can you tell the state we were in at the moment???)
Pics from the Rundown:

Dawn's the nerd that put her stupid shirt on as soon as we got in the car....so she had it on when she went running back in the restaurant I'm reminded of Andy's favorite line from "PCU" "Don't be that guy" in reference to the guy that wears the shirt of the band of the concert he's going to see

After the Rundown we stopped and did a little shopping. I got some cute pink flip flops with hawaiian flowers on the soles...and a cute pink flower shell necklace (which you'll see in pictures later).

After that, things got a little crazy in the car with the sharks I was making my shark sing a long to the Robbie Williams that was playing on my iPod And our responsible driver was the one taking pictures of it all

Please don't think we're totally irresponsible...because we aren't.... I promise

When we got back to the house we all changed into our swimwear and went onto the beach. I finally got up the nerve to get in the water with everyone. I had to hold on to Andy's neck the whole time, but it was fun....and cold!! I lasted about 10 minutes before we all realized that we were being washed into an area where you couldn't reach the bottom anymore and poor Andy was trying to hold me up in that area....not safe! The bottom was crazy...one second you're standing a bunch of shells that hurt your feet and you sink down in them when you try to stand up and the next minute you're in over your head. I called it quits after that!

We dried out and headed back to the house and had dinner.. I can't remember what we had.... is that bad??? I remember going to the grocery store with Andy to pick up supplies for a fire on the beach and some smores and I remember talking to my mom on the phone the whole time we were in there.....OH I remember now!! We ordered out pizza.. When Andy and I pulled back into the driveway the pizza guy, a.k.a. surfer dude, pulled up behind us. "Did you guys order pizza??" he yells....I'm like "sure....c'mon in with me...hope you don't mind 3 flights of steps cause everyone's upstairs." Meanwhile Andy had to get the groceries outta the car so he was dragging behind. I told the pizza guy, a.k.a. surfer boy, that this would totally freak my in-laws out...me coming up the stairs with some blonde, tan, stranger.... So I get to the top and the first person that sees me is Dawn and her face was pure confusion.... I was like "Hey guys, look what I brought home from the grocery store" God I'm such a nerd!!

Anyway...the pizza was great to have come from a little hole in the wall place. I love how places like that always seem to have great food.

We then decided to watch Napoleon Dynamite (last trip the movie for the trip was O Brother Where Art Thou).... we tried to play a drinking game where you had to drink everytime someone said one of the "catch phrases" from the movie... And Matt was sure to yell out "Catch phrase" everytime it happened This didn't last long as everyone was pooped out. It was time to hit the sack shortly after that.

Coming up: How long can one sit in a non-moving vehicle???
