Forums Closed

As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Day 1 Part 3
Mary Devall and I hurried along Main Street where a crowd was already gathering for the parade. My eyes immediately went to Monica though. It was so good to see her again - - one of the sweetest and warmest people that you will ever meet [img]/ubb/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img]. She introduced us to her sister, Kim, who was trying to find some shade under a hanging basket! [img]/ubb/images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img] They had already snagged front row seats for the parade. Monica gave Mary Devall a pair of “girl power” socks (so apropos for our trip!) and four pressed pennies (also very apropos since seeing Macy’s finished penny book had spurred on Mary Devall to finish hers). While Kim and the stroller saved our seats for the parade, Monica, Mary Devall and I went in search of ice cream sandwiches. The line at the ice cream parlor was out the door, so we went to the bakery instead where I had seen ice cream sandwiches (or at least the cookies for them) in the case earlier that day on our cupcake search. Monica bought a chocolate chip one with vanilla ice cream and we had a sugar cookie one with vanilla ice cream. We went back outside to eat our goodies and catch up some more while waiting on the parade. [img]/ubb/images/graemlins/yuma.gif[/img]
Kim and Mary Devall sat on the curb for the parade while Monica and I stood behind them. What a great spot (thanks to Monica and Kim for snagging it![img]/ubb/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif[/img]). Mary Devall and I had never seen this parade in its entirety, so it was a real treat. It was especially wonderful that Mary Devall could sit right up front and have some great character interaction.

Suzy even came by and ruffled her hair when she wasn’t looking, but the expression on her face when she saw who had ruffled her hair was priceless! [img]/ubb/images/graemlins/cool.gif[/img] It’s a great way to catch so many of the characters in a short period of time. I was surprised at how quickly it was over. We had a FP coming up for Pooh and Monica and Kim were moving on too, so it was time to say goodbye. [img]/ubb/images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img] First Kim took some pictures of us.
We said goodbye, but it wasn’t the final goodbye of our trip as we would discover days later! [img]/ubb/images/graemlins/woot.gif[/img]
Before we visited Pooh, our window had opened up for another fast pass so we skedaddled over to Peter Pan. After pocketing two more of those beauties, we went back to Pooh, entered the FP line and walked right up to the gate - - the first time that had ever happened to us [img]/ubb/images/graemlins/cool.gif[/img]. We were bouncing with Tigger in no time. Mary Devall just loves this ride so much - - she smiles throughout and continually points out things along the way. At the end, we always have to clap. [img]/ubb/images/graemlins/applause.gif[/img]
Next we had a very short wait for the teacups. Mary Devall has now decided that she wants me to help spin us and the faster we go the better. I almost made myself sick spinning so fast [img]/ubb/images/graemlins/dizzy.gif[/img] - - Jill, you are 40, not 4[img]/ubb/images/graemlins/shameonyou.gif[/img]!
By the time our teacup came to a stop, our 5 p.m. ADR at Chef’s Mickeys was looming closer, but Mary Devall had to stop and say hello first to the Twins and White Rabbit.
 
We hurried for the exit and hopped the next monorail to the Contemporary. This was our first trip to Chef Mickey’s, but we easily found it one flight down and were greeted with a long check-in line. Thankfully, the line moved fairly quickly. We took our picture with the plate (knowing full and well that I wouldn’t be purchasing it, but it gave us something to do [img]/ubb/images/graemlins/crazy.gif[/img]) and then Mary Devall went to take a picture with Donald who was holding court in the lobby. Donald seemed just a tad apathetic and that pretty much set the tone for our character experience at Chef Mickey’s. [img]/ubb/images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img]
I had planned for Mary Devall and me to wait in the lounge and check out the great view, but our pager went off as soon as we headed in that direction. We were quickly seated and our drink order was taken (chocolate milk for Mary Devall and a glass of the Happiest Celebration on Earth Buena Vista chardonnay for me [img]/ubb/images/graemlins/toast.gif[/img]). We helped ourselves to the buffet where Mary Devall had her normal chicken fingers and corn and I mainly stuck with the salads and boiled shrimp. When we got back to our table, the characters started coming around.
 
 
Mary Devall had to go to the bathroom during our meal and missed Chip. Oh well! We would have plenty of chances to see him on this trip! [img]/ubb/images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img]
Mary Devall did enjoy the napkin waving and the character interaction, but I seriously doubt if we will be back. The food didn't excite me and I just felt as if the characters really weren't into it. On the other hand, we did have a great server, I had a good glass of wine and Mary Devall had time with her beloved characters . . . so it wasn't all bad. [img]/ubb/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img]
I gave Mary Devall the choice of going back to the hotel and swim or going back to MK to use our FP to ride Peter Pan. It really surprised me when she chose MK and Peter Pan . . . so we hopped the monorail again and went back to MK. We still had time before our FP, so we stopped by the Indy Speedway for a trip around the course. Surprisingly the line was very short and within 10 minutes, we were in a car. Mary Devall wanted me to drive for some odd reason [img]/ubb/images/graemlins/crazy.gif[/img] and we had a blast "woo hoo"ing and acting silly.
From there, we traveled over to Neverland and rode our ship. "Hey Nana!" and "Hey, what's Little Mermaid doing here?" are two of Mary Devall's favorite things to say on this ride - - except that she did add a new one this time when we passed Captain Hook in the crocodile's mouth. "Hey Mister, we're not helping you!" [img]/ubb/images/graemlins/blush.gif[/img]
We had done what we had come to do, so we hopped the boat back to WL. We made the looooong walk back to our room (remember that we were in the last room at the end of an extremely long hall [img]/ubb/images/graemlins/crazy.gif[/img]), changed into our bathing suits and made the looooong walk back to the pool. For the first time we tried the big pool at WL. I pulled Mary Devall around for about 30 minutes (I had forgotten her swimmies in the room), but it was a little cold (the sun was now down) so we didn't stick around too long.
Back to the room where we unpacked and Mary Devall tried on her treasures from Monica. Is she styling or what? [img]/ubb/images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img]
A little Disney tv and then off to dream land![img]/ubb/images/graemlins/snore.gif[/img]
Tomorrow . . . a breakfast date with the princesses
