As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

I just love this report! I am enjoying reading about the teens and their reactions to the magic you've shown them. The cruise sounded perfect. Makes me want to get a Magical Gathering together.

Re: Wow! And did you say, \"No Characters?!\" Day 7
Day 7
Everyone went to bed last night excited. Excited? Why? I'm glad you asked.
This morning is the breakfast that my MIL thought we should cancel. She thought it would be best to do "no characters".
Once Upon a Time Breakfast @ Cinderella' Castle.
We have two separate tables for this breakfast. We figured the teens would sit together and the adults would take the other table. We have cameras all ready for the big event. The teen girls are excited. So are the boys, but they wouldn't admit it to save their lives!
We're all dressed and ready to leave POR when DD calls to say she is running late. . So I stay behind and wait for her. The rest move on without us. When we arrive, everyone is waiting for us. Seems the cm told them we only had a reservation for 6 and that we would "have to wait" because we were adding 4 people! Today's going to be one of those days?! I'm like. No way. They have my cc. So DD and I go over to the podium. The cm tries the same line with me and then dismisses me. I'm like, "Yo, we have 2 tables...2 reservations..different times." Another cm stepped in at this point and said, oh so that's the problem. We found the first one and didn't look any further. Yup, there it is. They give us a card and off we go. All is well. They even said they would try to sit us together. Within 5 minutes, we were called. And they did sit us right beside each other. Picture taking was going to be so much easier now! I had DD sit across from me because I knew she'd want her pictures with the princesses. You're never too old! MIL can't believe how excited the girls are! She's actually loving this!
We have 2 different waiters. Both very, very rushed! I'm sure it's because they are trying to seat one section together and they want us all done at the same time, but I really didn't feel comfortable with that aspect of the breakfast. Remember this is my first Once Upon a Time Breakfast, so I'm really excited for all to go well! I try to slow the waiters down by talking to them. What a thought! One table near us was upset about the rush too, but they never took the time to talk to the waiter.
The teens waiter warmed up quickly. He began joking around with them and he would come over to our table and tattle on them. He was a riot! He even took the time to listen to their needs/requests and was very kind to them.
Our waiter took awhile to warm up (and I'm not quite sure he ever made it!) He just wanted to get his work done. I'm like, I'm glad the teens waiter is so much fun if only one of them could be! I want the teens to have a magical breakfast!
And magical it was. We have our drinks and food long before the Princesses make their way across the room to us. But as soon as they arrived, everyone put down their forks and jumped to their feet for a picture. Princess Aurora wasn't herself. I don't know if this was a "new" Aurora or if she was just having a sad day. But she didn't interact with many tables. She would grudgingly take a picture and then off to the next table. She came our way just as Mary Poppins did too.
Mary Poppins had the teens stand up against wall to get a picture and 2 of the boys didn't budge. She came over to them with her umbrella, tapped it on the floor, and said "Spit Spot." Boy, did they jump! That's when she saw Princess Aurora trying to escape! She told Princess Aurora that there was a spot for her too. It was so cute. The teens talked about Mary Poppins the rest of our trip! They'd say "Spit Spot" to anyone who wouldn't listen! We had visits from Belle (my favorite). She had taken the photo with the teens and was going off to another table when I said, Excuse me Belle. Can we have one more picture with my daughter. That's when she realized she missed our table and was so apologetic. I said that's okay as long as I can have a picture of my favorite Princess and my favorite daughter (Good thing I only have one daughter!) Next came Snow White. Once again everyone pops up and gets in the picture. The boys were willing a this point because the girls kept saying "Spit Spot". Then we had a visit from the last Princess, Cinderella. The boys actually turned red. She was so "royal" and sweet to them.
It was another magical event in our trip. I'm so happy we were able to do all of this. Years ago this would have only been a dream. But as Walt Disney reminds us...Dreams do come true!
Downstairs when we were leaving was the Fairy Godmother and everyone got in line once again! They really do like these characters after all! That makes me happy -- I'm glad they really do have a soft side!
Well when breakfast was over. My MIL says as we're leaving Cinderella's Castle, I really liked the food. It was delicious. And she's right. I know there are many who don't like this food, but I found it hot, fresh and delicious. This is a must do PS (if we can ever get another one again!)
At this point everyone was ready to split up. DD had errands and so she was off and we would catch up with her later. DS#1 has work. He goes off to the utilidors to change and then he has a full shift at Columbia Harbor House. The teens had Space Mountain in mind. So off they go with their Quick & Casual Meal Voucher for dinner and Disney Dollars for a hot dog lunch. And plans to visit DS#1 at work. I hope that turns out well!
That leaves the adults alone: DH, MIL and me. My MIL asked, "So where are we going?" I'm like, you really want to go around MK? She said, yes. I'd like to try that Pirates of the Carribbean. This surprised me because she's not a "ride" person and prefers shows. So we were all too happy to drag her around.
Next up: Will she or won't she take the plunge on Splash Mountain?
