Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Re: Please Help = too big for the rides ???

I have never heard of the term pooh size before, it is so cute. We had a little problem at typhoon lagoon, we are 4 adults that between us weighed about 780 lbs. I rode the family raft with my husband and kids and it was a little difficult getting us started. I am kind of scared to try that ride again. The cast member looked a little annoyed. It could have been my imagination, but I felt uncomfortable. We are going in two weeks. We will see.

Re: Please Help = too big for the rides ???

For anyone with questions on Expedition Everest, my niece rode it with no problems. She has very large legs and has been unable to fit in rides with lap bars like EE, but had no problems and loved Expedition Everest. She also has some struggles with turnstiles from time to time.

She had extra room on the sides of the seat (there is a divider between the seats, which can be a tight squeeze for her). She was very comfortable and when she sat down and before we even got started, she said "I love this ride!" FYI, she wears a size 24.

There are test seats, and they are out of the way so you won't need to be embarrassed about using them.

That's good to know - very helpful - thanks! DH is a big guy and I would hate to see him asked to leave a ride because he didn't fit. It's hard enough being Pooh sized!

Re: Please Help = too big for the rides ???

Just to chime in - my husband is over 6'5 and is built more like a defensive end than a basketball player! He had no problem with the rides and he needs the size not only for girth but for leg room and shoulder room. It wasn't even an issue at any ride!

"Pooh" Size (CUTE!) lady and DH here and I find NO problems with the rides except some of the locations of the seatbelts. Just sometimes it's hard to find the insertion location of the darn belts (Test Track and Tower of Terror especially).

Re: Please Help = too big for the rides ???

As you can see by my signature pic, I'm definitely a Pooh sized gal. Wondering if any other Pooh sized Disney fans out there have rented the 2-seater boats from the Contemporary (or any hotel). Any problem fitting in them or in the lifejackets? I wanted to do this with DH but wanted us both to be in the same boat!

Re: Please Help = too big for the rides ???

Just back from our second trip and had a great time, rode everthing and fit well into everything! I am a size 24, and carry my weight evenly distributed around my body.

Expedition Everest- I was actually nervous about fitting into it, had heard that it was a tight squeeze, so I was pleased to find that there was ample room on both sides of my bottom, seats are larger than most coasters, and was able to pull the lap bar back several clicks. Rode it twice and it was a great ride.

Soarin'- Actually had some problems clicking my seatbelt into place, I pulled it all the way out and had enough room to click it before sitting down, but it wouldnt click for some reason, took several tries with a CM helping. But plenty of room.

Tightest fit? The teacups! Whoa baby! While I would fit in fine by myself, add my dh who is 6'4 and my two girls and it was close fit, my oldest dd didn't have room to put her feet down, she sat legs crossed. But mostly it was a leg room issue and squeezing throught the door to get on.

All alot of rides at a lot of other parks and I hold my breath and pray for fitting, but not at Disney!

I am making my first trip to WDW this September and this was a big issue (no pun intended) for me. After reading this topic I am even more excited knowing I will get the full experience!

Re: Please Help = too big for the rides ???

Thank you SO MUCH for posting all this information! My wife and I are traveling with her sister and her husband. Both of them are about "Pooh-sized" and they have been stressing that they won't have any fun while in Disney World - we tried to assure them that there is something for EVERYONE and it seems like there is a lot MORE for them than we realized!

Y'all are wonderful for opening up this topic - it really DOES help!

Thank you!!!

Re: Please Help = too big for the rides ???

Don't feel bad about the tea cups. My honey is 6'5 and about 240. I am 5"9 and 150 and our 4 year old son is only 39 pounds. We had more of a leg room issue than anything else. I don't think it's a "big" issue with the tea cups and agree it's a leg room issue. Glad to hear you were able to enjoy the rides. I feel bad for some folks who I have seen not fit into rides. It's embarassing for them, I am sure, and my heart goes out to them.

Re: Please Help = too big for the rides ???

Thanks to all of you wonderful Pooh-sized people for putting my mind at ease. My mom weighs maybe 100 lbs. and being asked to leave a ride because I didn't fit in it, in front of her and my son, was not something I was looking forward to. Now I really can't wait!

Have fun... enjoy it... you will fit in perfectly

Hey former "Pooh-sized" gal I never had a problem riding anything at Disney, and I will be joining you in the former Pooh-sized. I am having gastric bypass in two weeks.
