Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Re: Looking Back (A lost TR) ~ Day 2 complete

Well we found a good spot to watch the parade. We were seated up near the entrance to the MK. The parade was great! I really enjoyed it and got some cool pictures. But of course the whole time I was wondering about meeting Stitch. We checked the times guide and it said the characters would be back out in front of the castle at 4:00 so after the parade we headed back down Main Street. We guessed where his line would be and waited and waited and waited. And finally out came the characters! I was so happy to be getting a picture with my pal!! I made DH turn the automatic replay off on the camera so he could take a bunch of pictures at one time I know I'm crazy!

So after succeeding in my mission we headed out of the park and back to the GF. We had to hurriedly get ready for dinner. Dinner at 1900 Park Fare was very good. I really enjoyed the strawberry soup. Perla and Sue came around quite a bit to visit and seemed to hang on DH a lot. So of course I got a kick out of that. The Cinderella came around and I asked DH if he wanted his picture with her and he, jokingly I think, said he was nervous to meet Cinderella After that we got to meet Prince Charming. I rather enjoyed standing with a prince!

After dinner we had plans to go back to MK for Spectro. I forgot my jacket in the room and I knew I might need it after dark so DH ran back to the room to get it. I thought I'd wait out by the pool b/c I would be able to see him come out of our building. But I never did. Now I did tell him I was going to look around for a bathing suit (I had forgotten mine and needed one for Discovery Cove in a few days). After looking for awhile is when I went outside. Well apparently he went another way and I didn't see him. So we spent 10 minutes wandering around trying to find each other. Now I'm the kind of person who gets panicky when I can't find someone and I couldn't figure out what I should do. Go back to the room, which I did and he wasn't there, walk around the shops again, I did and he wasn't there, then I happened to look up in the lobby right above the piano and there he was videoing some of the lobby. He was obviously as concerned as me!

After this little mishap we took the monorail over to MK and went in to find a good spot for Spectro. It was cool to see all of the park lit up at night. Spectro was awesome! I think I liked it better than the parade earlier in the day. After Spectro we decided it would be romantic to hop the boat back to the GF and watch the fireworks from the water. So we did. The fireworks were still going off once we reached the dock so we got off the boat and sat on the dock to finish watching. It was a great show!

After the fireworks we walked back to our room to relax a little. DH was in the bathroom and I went out on the balcony to watch the water pageant parade. I stepped back in the room and noticed something on the table. It was a bottle of champagne and 2 glasses. We had been in the room for 10 or 15 minutes and nobody noticed this! I went to the bathroom door and knocked and asked DH "How observant are you?" he didn't understand. So when he came out I asked him again "How observant are you? Look around." Then he spotted it. Room service had left us this nice treat with a little note congratulating us on our honeymoon. It was so sweet! So we enjoyed our champagne while sitting out on the balcony.

After a long day it was time for bed... Tomorrow we had plans to visit MGM and an early breakfast at Ohana!

The sun was VERY bright!

This has got to be one of my favorite photos. I can't believe the color in this picture!

Awesome pictures from your Honeymoon, Melissa!! What a romantic trip! The GF is the perfect place to stay. We were on the meal plan for our honeymoon, too! I don't think I've ever eaten that much, and the food was sooo good! Looking forward to your next installment!

Re: Looking Back (A lost TR) ~ Day 2 part 1

[ QUOTE ]
We hopped right on the monorail and I remember commenting to DH we'd have to learn the Spanish part "Por favor....etc" If I could spell it I would type it . And thus the monorail obsession began.

[/ QUOTE ]

You mean . . . "Por favor mantenganse alejado de las puertas." (Which actually translates to "Please they are maintained far away of the doors." in english!!! )

Some of those pictures are cracking me up . . . and the story about Tigger falling, too!!! (Am I going to Hades for thinking that it was hilarious that he ate pavement, or what!?)

I've gotta tell you . . . I am really not all that romantical-like, but I am doing an awful lot of "Awwwwww! That's so sweet!!!" stuff here!!!

Good stuff . . . bring on the next day!!!

I am loving this report Melissa - especially the way you first found Stitch. I loved the fact that you got Andy to take so many photos of you. It sounds like the first time I met Eeyore on our honeymoon.

More please!
