Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

I am going to make a huge assumption, but I gather that maybe she is used to having people do things "her" way, and he is used to having things "his" way and that the two aren't mixing well. Just sad though. I don't want to see him burn out.
Maks and Erin had a natural and romantic connection, she really softened him up (sometimes.) I think with Brandy---their egos were just locking horns and someone *had* to give, and since this is a ballroom dancing show and Maks is the ballroom expert, Brandy had to submit. I was when they showed the clips and when Len was telling Maks that he could not condone that style of teaching I couldn't even watch. She did make a huge improvement but I wanted to slap Carrie Ann when she said that she also couldn't condone it, but that it worked, why did the woman have to say that???? I think Tom Bergeron said it best: Stockholm Syndrome because Brandy was defending Maks all the way, too funny/weird!!!

I understand why Margaret was out but I really wanted to see Bristol go.

I can see too why Margaret is gone. Her dancing was not that good.

I felt sick when they showed Max smacking Brandys behind. If it happened, why did they have to show it?! He was sooo sweet last season-I couldn't wait to see them preform.

Atleast Bristols mom wasn't there this time. I saw that her mom has a book out...good promotion for her I will be glad when she is gone too.

I thought Mark and his wife did a wonderful dance to Michaels song. That was so nice and the smoke was incredible.

Looking forward to next wks. Sounds interesting. Something new...can't wait.

*I didn't get to post before the results this week, but here are my thoughts after this week's performances:

Jennifer Grey ~ still my favorite , but Kurt Warner is a close second.

Rick Fox , Kyle Orlando Massey , Brandy , Audrina Patridge~ all did great

Florence Henderson~she did a good job-and looked great

Bristol Palin, The Situation, Margaret Cho ~ I'm not a fan of either of those, and was glad to see Margaret Cho go.....

Last season Maks was senstive to everything Erin was going through. This season Maks is discoraged and It's Brandy who keeping him going. The Judges should have never said anything about how Maks is teraching Brandy. It should be a privet talk between Brandy and Maks. We don't know the full sinario of they butt slap. I wonder if Karina being there has anything to do with him having trouble.??

What is the connection between Maks and Karina????

I agree totally that some things shouldn't be displayed and that went abit over the top. I am glad that him and Brandy do get along. I like Maks. I always have. I think his brother would be good for the show too. I miss Erin and him though...it was sooo sweet...yeah, I am the one that reads the romance books Oh, did you catch Maks on the celebrity challange in Nassau where they had to do various physical tasks. He won. It was great.

They were engaged and something happend right before season 9 kicked off and it cause tension at the show. When Maks and Debi were voted out he would do pro dances and then leave right away. Something to do with Karina's partner amaking a fuss that his being there was hurting them or something. Maks took all the blam but i don't belive it's true. I think she broke it off with him and was the problem but thats just MHO.

I wouldn't miss it!
I do think that the judges were harsh for some but too easy on some others. As much I really really really like Maks, I think they gave him too high of marks by one, but I think they owed it to him.
The Situation and Bistol deserved those marks. The situation did nothing but lifts (they are difficult but this isn't the last show and it isn't about lifts only). Bristols mom was in the audience again...grr. And what is up to Mark??I think he was getting into his role abit tooo much (he has changed and going down a wierd path)
They marked the sports guys too harsh too. That was sweet about having both partners there with them to watch.
Jennifer was good and so was Tonys partners.
Florence Henderson....she was sooo good. What is up with the comments about Mrs. Brady??? I mean, didn't we all suspect she was like that It was sooo funny and I am going to show that part to my 78 yr old mother. I hope I have that in me when I am 55 let alone 78!!! Wow!!!!

Great show. Tom was in a great mood, which makes the show lol. I look forward to this show every wk!!!

ITA, the judges were totally harsh. "Sitch" posted his performance on FB, I thought that was very endearing...and brave. I agreed with Carrie Ann 100% re: throwing the gauntlet at Bristol---just DO it or drive your truck back to Alaska. And ITA with you Starbright about Mark getting weird. I think he also released a solo album when normally he's with Derek, I wonder if something is up between them? By the time Derek and Jen came out, it was like "ooohh yeaaaaaah, now I remember, this is what dancing is supposed to look like." My DH was all out of sorts over the stage change, sometimes he liked it sometimes he didn't. Ultimately I think that Florence did better than her scores.

We missed last night -- something about a little football game
Usually I hate that the Tues show is such a rehash of Monday, but this week I think I'll be glad for the recap.

Last night:

10 for the new stage. GREAT stage for acoustic night! And since I have done a Shakespeare play in a "thrust" theatre setting (meaning somewhat in the round, not what you think it means, you dirty minded individuals!), I enjoyed seeing the different dance floor.

Kurt & Anna: Great first dance, and especially sweet since it was his anniversary.
Brandy & Maks: I absolutely LOVED Brandy giving Maks romantic pointers! That was hysterical! The dance was also pretty steamy!

Rick & Cheryl: Wow, wasn't expecting Rick to pull off a nice Argentine tango. And Cheryl's research in Argentina this summer really showed.

Kyle & Lacey: Just like the Ugly Duckling that turns into a beautiful swan, Kyle is steadily improving, just not fast enough for my liking. And since he has the Disney Channel audience in his pocket, we'll be seeing him around for awhile.

The Situation & Karina: I was holding my breath the entire time that we wouldn't see any tragedy. But The Sitch did indeed make it through without dropping Karina. The lifts were insane and terrific, and the judges were really harsh on them for not having a technical enough routine.

Florence & Corky: Definitely the best rhumba of the night by far, and I absolutely LOVED seeing the "NOT Appropriate" signs when the judges didn't judge Florence & Corky very nicely.

Jennifer & Derek: Yeah, she TOTALLY deserved being restored to the top of the leaderboard in GRAND fashion! Best Argentine tango of the night by far, and anyone coming after had a REALLY tough act to follow.

Bristol & Mark: Coming after Jennifer & Derek, it became really obvious to me that Bristol & Mark weren't going to live up to the high standards of the previous dance, but the choreography stank and the technicality wasn't much better. I'd be real surprised to see her back next week.

Audrina & Tony: Yikes. For a last dance it was okay, but other than that, it showcased why they made the stage the way they did.

Them's my thoughts. Fire away.

BJ
