As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

More great pics from your day! I would be tired too! Great RS photopass pic!
It really did make me think how I managed to "survive" WDW on my last trip. The great thing of DLR is the parks are smaller and they're right next to each other. Comparatively, the walking is MUCH less!

Love the Photopass pic by the way!

What was the verdict from the kids on Carsland? Thumbs up?
Oh, I hope you do! Disneyland in the winter is such a magical time! Now I'm curious how they'll decorate DCA for the holidays!

That would be great! I think Arabella would love it, especially with all the sparkly lights they put up all over the place! That would an amazing Christmas present!

Last night I remembered an interesting story that happened at Jolly Holiday Cafe that I forgot to share with you.
I was waiting in line to place my order, and the line is a small but wide switchback. I walked into the line on the left, and there were maybe 5 people standing in front of me. About a minute later, I notice someone brush me on my back. I figured the person just accidentally got too close to me. Then a few seconds later, I felt another "contact" so I turned around casually...it was a lady, maybe early 20s. She wasn't trying to get my attention, so I just turned back around to wait. Another minute later, I felt more contact. It was as if she was trying to squeeze ahead of me in line. Now I'm getting annoyed. At first I thought maybe she was trying to meet up with the rest of her party ahead of me, but the space was wide, so she easily could have walked around me...and no one ahead of me made any indication that they knew her. No, she was just one of those people who does NOT value "space" as we tend to know it. Oh my goodness, this kept going on every few seconds for the 10 or so minutes I was in line! When I was next, she practically squeezed in front of me to try to get a view of the food case to see the offerings. Again, she could have easily walked around me on the other side, but NO, she had to squeeze by me so she could get closer to the case.
Anyhow, just something to share and another one of those things that just reminds you that everyone is different and sometimes you just have to step back (in this case I had no room to step back! LOL!), take a deep breath, and remember you're at Disney!

This is the sort of thing that made me think I'd hate Disney parks and didn't go to one until I was 40! Something about crowd mentality that makes people squeeze in close even when there's plenty of room. I'm glad I learned that it doesn't really happen that often, most people are polite, friendly and reasonable, and that if it does happen it'll be over soon!

You're right. Thankfully it's not a common occurence.

After Fiddler, Fife and Practical Cafe (I'm so not in love with that name), we were ready to go home, but Sophia wanted to stop in at World of Disney to browse a bit.
On the way out, we stopped to take a quick pic. Since we're lucky enough to come so often, I often don't think to take pictures of "iconic" places at Disneyland.
Here's yet another cute little hat offering:
We came really close to buying this one, but my wonderful practical daughter said that she didn't want to spend my money on it because there really wouldn't be many opportunities to wear it. I told her that when we come back in August, if the hat's still available, I'll get it for her since it'll be closer to Halloween and she might feel more comfortable wearing the hat!
And that, as we say, is that! We took the tram to the parking structure and arrived home about an hour later (due to the tail end of commuter traffic).
We'll certainly be back in late August, and I'm planning on meeting a few fellow PassPorters in the next few weeks! Until then, so long!

Love the classic shot of the kids in front of the entrance. That hat (or is it a "fascinator'?) looks great on Sophia. How does it stay on?
I hadn't thought about that...it DOES look like a fascinator! It's actually held on with a black elastic that goes under the neck. There's a few styles I've seen around since some time last year. They're really cute, but Sophia's right...aside from Disney, when would you ever wear it? Still, I think they're cute, and even if we wear it at Disney once every month or two, it's worth a splurge! I hope it's still there when we go back!

Thanks, Marnie! I'm having a lot of fun sharing my experiences with everyone. It's the least I can do after all the great TR's I've read over the years! I wish I had another trip planned so I could write another TR!

That's exactly what I was thinking! I'm hoping that I'll make it before my 50th, but if not, I'll definitely have to try for the 50th!
I was talking to my mom the other day about maybe doing a trip to Hong Kong Disneyland now that they have new stuff to see/do there! She'd be the perfect tour guide since she grew up there! Wouldn't that be awesome?! I told her she could probably make money helping Disney fans plan trips to HK Disney!

That sounds good as well. I'd love to go back, now that they've made all the additions. Sadly, I think a return trip is a good few years off, as I've got too much else planned in the meantime.
