Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Loving your trip report. Couple of questions how much was your quick silver transfer? Did you take dme back to the airport? Also where are the kangaroos? I have been to AK many times and have never seen them.
From the airport to the Doubletree it was $65 before tip, and from the Doubletree to POR it was $40 before tip. We did take DME back to the airport, and did resort airline check in as well. I had never seen the kangaroos either. I read about them on here. They are on a path right next to the entrance to It's Tough to Be a Bug.

Great day at Animal Kindgom! I have a reservation at RFC this week, but I'm not sure I'm going to keep it--I haven't been in awhile and I thought it might be interesting to write a new review.

Day 6- Hollywood Studios!
Once again we were up and at ‘em, and this time we didn’t have to wait long for a bus. We ended up getting to DHS at around 8:20. I was pretty excited about that because I had read online that they had started letting people in around 8:30 and letting them walk to TSMM. Today they didn’t let people in until about 8:45, but the procedure was the same as I had read- no rope, just a leisurely walk down to TSMM. Well, for us anyway. There were a lot of people hurrying to get over there!
There was no need to hurry, as this picture shows:

We had a good ride, although Ethan was none too happy that I beat him at the game! After our ride, the Toy Story characters were scheduled to come out in about 10 minutes, so Richard and the kids got in line for that, and I headed over to snag FPs for Rock N’ Roller Coaster. After we did that stuff, we met up in front of the hat to watch the Disney Channel Rocks show. I stopped along the way to get a giant cinnamon bun at Starring Rolls. 
We headed in to the Great Movie Ride after that, since we were right there. I was so excited, because we FINALLY got the cowboy side! We have been on this ride probably 4 other times and have always had the gangster. It was cool that it was finally different.
After that, our RNRC FPs were ripe, so we headed that way, only to find that it was down.  So we figured we would come back and headed over to Star Tours instead. We hadn’t ridden it since they changed everything, and it was amazing! We ended up doing it twice then because the line was pretty short.
We walked around a bit, but decided that we better head to Pizza Planet early, as we had early ressies at Sci-Fi for dinner, plus we knew it would be crazy by noon. We sat upstairs in the arcade, another first for us. I had the best dessert I had all week here- cappuccino cupcake! Oh My Word! DIVINE!!! The kids played a few games in the arcade, and then we headed out.
Richard and the kids headed over to the stunt show, and I headed over to try to ride ToT, as no one in my family will ride this with me! I had tried to ride it when I came over to get RNRC FPs, but it was down at the time. I got my one ride in, and headed over to catch the stunt show. I saw most of it, even though I didn’t get to sit with my family. The place was absolutely packed! They only had 2 or 3 shows that day. That is the hard part about DHS I think, in order to see all the shows you have to go more than one day for sure.
After that we headed up the Streets of America, and finally found that Singin’ in the Rain umbrella!

Then we headed in to see MuppetVision. We absolutely love the muppets at our house. After we saw the show, we just had to check out the store. Ethan bought some Animal drumsticks in the shop. He’s building up quite a collection! It makes sense, though, since he’s a percussionist and all.
After that we finally headed over to RNRC, which was up and running! Ethan hung out in the gift shop, where he ended up getting yet another pair of drumsticks- these ones light up, and the rest of us headed on. We didn’t wait hardly at all, and we were getting in our limo. Natalie was nervous, but decided to ride with her dad since she had done Everest with me the day before. She absolutely loved it! Her favorite part was going through the “donut” she said. When we got off, we had one more FP left, and this is Richard’s favorite ride in DHS, so I sent him to go on by himself. As he was headed on, someone gave him their spare FP that they couldn’t use, so we convinced Natalie to go again. This became “their” ride and they still talk about how awesome it was to ride it together twice in a row.

We slowly headed over to the Sci-Fi Dine In, shopping a little along the way. When we got there, we waited a short while, getting a photo-op in the car in front of the sign:

When we got into the restaurant itself, we just had to laugh! It is so cool in there! I was a little worried since I had read mixed reviews about the food. I thought it was just as good as a lot of places we had eaten, and the “adult” milkshake was out of this world! And you really can’t beat the atmosphere.

The kids wanted to do Star Tours again, but I was all set, so they went on alone while Richard and I waited. After getting off, Natalie wanted to go get her picture taken with Lightning and Mater, but Ethan wanted to go back on Star Tours. We handed him one of the cell phones and let him go. We were just getting in line to see Phineas and Ferb, when we got another text: “Going again, OK?” He really did love that ride! He did make it in time to see P&F though.

After that we slowly headed up towards Fantasmic. I didn’t think it would be a real issue getting a seat as it wasn’t that busy anywhere all day. Well, as we headed up the hill, an announcement came over the loud speaker saying that there were no more seats available, but there were some standing room spaces left. We figured it wouldn’t hurt to check it out, and so we kept going. We ended up getting seats, although they were WAY over to the left. It didn’t really matter though- we saw everything just fine, and I got to play with my camera some more!

We were all absolutely exhausted by the time we left. We didn’t have to wait long for a bus, again! We got back to the room and I know that I was asleep before my head hit the pillow!
Next: Do we make it to EMH?

Just found your TR and I love it! Just when you think you know everything about WDW you learn something new. I never heard of the Sorcerers of the MK game! Also I didn't know about the kangaroos at AK.

Your DD sounds so brave for 9! Not sure my 9 y/o would ride all of those coasters!

A 10 minute wait for Forbidden Journey sounds like staying on site over there is well worth it!

More please!

Great day at the studios! I'm not surprised you were all exhausted at the end of it-- that was a very long, very full day. Your DD looks right at home behind the wheel of that blue convertible.

Irenaroo- we didn't actually stay on site, we stayed at a Universal "partner" hotel and booked through the US site to get the one hour early admission to Harry Potter- it was half the price of staying on site.

Day 7- Magic Kingdom again!
As tired as we were from the day before, we managed to get up and out of bed at 6:30 to make MK EMH. We got there right around 5 minutes before the gates opened for EMH. We headed in and stopped to see a bunch of characters:

We then headed into Tomorrowland and did Buzz and Stitch after picking up a few FPs for Space Mountain. The kids wanted to do a ride by themselves, so they did Monsters, Inc. We headed over to the Tomorrowland Speedway, where Natalie picked up her license, as it was the first time she could ride alone:

As we were heading back over toward Space Mountain, we saw PUSH the talking trash can. I laughed when it swung around on me as I was getting it’s picture. It asked me if I was the paparazzi! Then he said I was too pretty to be the paparazzi, I must be the mamarazzi! Ha! Who knew I would have a trash can flirting with me!  The SM fastpasses were ripe, so Richard convinced Natalie to go with him, and Ethan and I took a spin on the Peoplemover. We saw Chip and Dale in their space outfits afterward and headed over to see them:

After that Richard and I headed over to use up the other two SM FPs, and we gave a cell phone to the kids and they rode the Peoplemover together. We actually got done at the same time. We then saw Stitch come out, so we went and had a picture taken with him:

By now we had decided to head over to get lunch, as we had a fairly early ressie for ‘OHana for dinner. Richard had been dying for Casey’s since we got to Orlando, so we headed there. We didn’t wait long and he and I were eating our BBQ slaw dogs. They were so good, you definitely have to eat them with a fork . We did say that they should serve them with a roll of Tums!

After lunch, we headed over toward Splash to get FPs, as the wait was at about 60 minutes. We got our FPs and we decided to head over to Tom Sawyer Island while we waited for them to ripen. While we were there, we discovered that it’s very easy to lose track of your kids! We headed through caves and over a bridge, and around a corner. Richard decided to sit awhile and rest his leg. I waited a bit for the kids to come back around the corner, which they didn’t do. I told Richard that I would go looking for the kids. After about 10 minutes, my phone started to ring. I assumed it was my DH telling me he had the kids, but instead it was a very teary Natalie on an unknown phone number. I asked her where she was, she told me, and I headed over there. She and Ethan were with a very nice family who had let them use their phone. I thanked them and then we headed toward where Richard was. On the way, we had a lovely talk about not wandering, and instead of talking top random people to find a CM. They assured me that they would not walk away again (they were pretty upset), and they also said they couldn’t find a CM. I tended to believe them because we really didn’t see any over there except the ones driving the rafts. So we finished up TSI, and then our Splash FPs were ripe, so we headed on over.
Ethan wouldn’t go on, so the three of us headed on, and he staked out a corner with one of our phones to wait. He ended up watching part of a movie on Netflix, since even thjough we had FPs, we still waited about 15 minutes to get on.
We headed up to get on the train at the Frontierland station after that. It was a long ride, as we ended up getting stuck at Main St because of the parade. It was nice though, as we were all pretty beat and we enjoyed the rest.
After we got off, we did Philharmagic and the Carousel. Natalie made a bee-line for Cinderella’s horse and was able to snag it.

We had to head to our ressie at ‘OHana by then, so we slowly made our way out front. For some reason the monorail wasn’t running for a good chunk of that day, so we had to ferry boat over. We waited a while for the ferry, and I was glad that we had given ourselves plenty of time. We got there and checked in, and in no time we were being shown to our table. We all decided that this was the best meal we ate all week. SO MUCH FOOD! Richard asked our server if the meal came with a wheelbarrow, as he was going to need one to get out of there, lol. Natalie had fun with the coconut races and doing the Hooki-Lau with her dad:

We all ate a ton of food, and Natalie especially liked the steak:

Ethan was in a bit of a "mood," so this is the only pic I got of him:

We had planned to head back to MK after supper to see the MSEP and Wishes, as we had missed them before. However, it looked like it was going to rain, and we were all stuffed and pretty beat, so we decided to just head back to the resort. We finally got to take the monorail back to the MK, and then the bus to POR.
The kids really wanted to swim, and it wasn’t super late, plus we were running out of clean clothes! So I did a few loads of laundry, which wasn’t busy at all. While they were running, we all went in the quiet pool next to our building. Thankfully, Ethan's mood had improved. The kids had an absolute ball. I went in just for a minute, because I thought it was chilly. It has to be about 95 degrees before I really want to swim, lol. It only has to be about 75 for them! They are truly Mainers!

There was a beautiful full moon peeking through the clouds though, so I used my big zoom lens to capture that:

After the laundry was done and the kids were waterlogged, we headed up, showered and fell into bed!
Up next: Flower and Garden Festival!
