No kids on your trip? Just couples? - Page 4 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

We just got back from 4 nights in WDW w/o the kids. It was wonderful. We did things we would never be able to do with our kids (mostly because they're still pretty young). We had a great time in Epcot, which we usually just "pass through" and had a great dinner at Flying Fish Cafe. We also had dinner at Ragloan Road and had a few cocktails at the bar afterward. It was nice to be able to take everything in at a leisurely pace, instead of rushing around from one thing to the next. I would recommend it HIGHLY to every couple. There is just so much to do at WDW! We really want to do it again, hopefully sooner rather than later!

My DH and I say that Disney brings out our inner child. I love to see him relax. It was odd to see him upset our last trip... tuns out he did not like sharing his Disney time with his wife. Our Best friends and there 6yr came with us. I wanted to spend more time with them as we had done Disney just the two of us less than six months earlier.
Next trip as a group, plan some couple time ahead of time so that he does not act like a jealous two year old.
I missed see most of Disney thru her eyes but next time we will see. Her Mom says she keeps talking about going back to Disney with Aunt T, and next september our Company (DH, me, and BFH all work for the same co) has it's conference in Orlando and we will be adding a few days... Hey they already paid for the air fare.

My wife and I have been together for the past 17 years, married the past 13 years of that.
We have no children but we still have been Premium Passholders at DLR for the past 3 years and bought into the DVC 2 years ago. Our ‘home resort’ is Saratoga Springs.
I grew up about 15 miles west of Disneyland and for the life of me, I could not even begin to guess how many times I went to ‘the park’.
As a 10 year old, my two sisters and I were luck to be at Disneyland on “Opening Day” July 17th, 1955
In Sept of 2008, my wife and I are going to be spending our long past due HONEYMOON at the Boardwalk Villas Resort. We don’t feel out of place going to Disneyland without children. Wasn’t it Walt Disney who said something along the lines that Disneyland was designed to bring the kid out in all of us?????
Heh...reading this thread is really like coming home. My husband and I are both busy adults - him finishing a doctorate of pharmacy program and me working two jobs to support him. Kids are not in our plans...as Mestitch pointed out, it's probably because we're a bit selfish. In a high-stress lifestyle, Disney is a blessing. I live in the "real world" every day of my life. I'm adult; I make tough decisions and provide customer service to sometimes rude people. But I dream of a place where the world is like I want it to be - a place where magic and kindness are not just dreams. Disney World is as close as I can get to that place. My husband and I love the "magic" of Disney, just the two of us. It's a place where all the "little" things - the responsibilities of every day life fade into the background and leave just the two of us. Disney is a place that reminds us why we fell in love and gives us shelter from the world so that we can fall in love all over again.
Disney without kids? Oh yeah. Disney isn't just for children; it sounds tacky, but it is truly for anyone who has not given up their sense of wonder, anyone who still needs to believe in kindness and magic. I believe that magic is not just for children; it is for all those who are willing to see it.
My DH and I go by ourselves (no kids). We have a great time. Besides when we are there we feel like kids. We act like kids all the time but it's nice to be somewhere where we can actually act like kids and no one cares.
About the 1st weekend in December every year, my Mom takes all the kids and grandkids to Disney for the MVMCP and Chef Mickey's the next AM. It's about 8 of us total. However, DH and I always go two extra days so he and I can spend some quality time together. It's our Christmas present to each other. We don't have any kids. It's nice, because it's just him and me time. No work calls, no family calls, in a place where magic happens every day.

I can totally relate! DH and I don't have kids yet, maybe we never will. We enjoy our lifestyle - we work hard, both have stressful jobs and Disney is a true escape for us. DH used to be one of "those" people who thought that WDW was only for kids until he went with me!
DH & I just got back about 1 1/2 weeks ago from a kid-free trip---- we went for the F&WF as well as the PFTS We had one of the best times together in a LOOONG time (including our trip to Mexico w/ another couple). SHHH... don't tell anyone, but we went back to hand holding & walking together (minus the child's hand ) just like when we were newly dating & married ...
WDW w/o kids was fabulous! We went on rides aka...scouting mission for the kids' next trip, I went on rides I have never been on like TOT & RNRC and a 4-day trip was just PERFECT--- enough time away & alone, but not too long away from the kids... best part... the kids did not know exactly where we were until we RETURNED HOME !

My DH's and Mine first trip to WDW together was just with my parents no kids. We had a wonderful time! DH and I hope to go sometime again without the kids!
It is just my wife and I that go. We have no kids!!! I love going to Anything Disney. But part of the fun is watching other people's kids haveing a great time. I have never felt guilty or anything like that going without kids!! Disney is for everybody isn't it???
I agree 100% that you can go without the kids and still have fun!! My hubby and I went in 2002-I had won the trip at work!! We stayed at the Coronado Springs Resort and it was wonderful.
To be honest-it was one of the most relaxing vacations we have had at Disney. We were in no hurry to do anything in particular, we did take advantage of the emh's sometimes. But for the most part, we took our time doing and seeing everything we wanted. We even relaxed by the pool sometimes (the quiet one) where we were alone most of the time since everyone else had kids and they were at the other more active pool .
The resort was great, we walked around it-it was beautiful but big, got familiar with it-had nice romantic walks with each other at sunset-it was GREAT!!! We still met characters, didn't hassle with the autographs-but if I wanted a picture made with them-I would wait in line with the "little kids" and take my turn with them-and had a blast!! My hubby even wanted his picture made with some of the Princesses (of course ). They all would interact with us just like they did with the little ones.
The only thing I did find was that sometimes, we would talk about how much fun the kids would be having doing this and that . So, all in all-it was a good trip and one I wouldn't hesitate to take again.
DH and I don't have human children (we our furbabies like they are our kids but that's another post ) and we LOVE going to Disney. It's our favorite vacation and we always have an amazing time. We become kids again while we are there, are able to enjoy the romance and magic and enjoy watching the joy on children's faces. It really is the greatest place on earth for all!
