Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

It's definitely a reminder of Disney when I use it almost every day! You have a couple of great trips to do before your return and not a bad trade off!

I am way behind but chiming in to say I'm enjoying your TR so far. Your review of Frontera Cocina sounds like a restaurant I need to get my family to try sometime. I love outdoor dining and happy to hear it was a good experience for you.

Your Cali Grill brunch looked and those beautiful views! Love the pictures.

Glad to have you aboard! I enjoyed Frontera Cocina and will definitely return! The Cali brunch was so good and glad I did it even being quite pricey! I'm happy you are enjoying the photos!

Added the Nomad Lounge to list of places we must visit. It looks beautiful and your Leaping Lizard drink sounds delish!

Tiffins sounds interesting but I don't think would be appealing to my husband and son (they have limitations on food they can eat due to a condition they both have - they can't eat most vegetables or anything spicy, and my husband is a picky eater on top of that ). I often prefer appetizers over entrees too! Why do they always sound so much more appealing?

All caught up! Sorry for the multiple posts Figured I'd read to the end before commenting again.

Reading through your report of the samplings and demos has me wishing it was Food & Wine Fest already My husband doesn't care too much for it as it brings the crowds to our favourite park, but I just love it. I love travelling but can't afford to do too much of it, so this is as close to feeling like I'm travelling the world...at least in food

I've never done any demos either, and for $15 that sounds like something I need to add. Your culinary experience sounded great too and I'd love to see a picture of the cutting board (if you don't mind sharing). What a great souvenir

And your Victoria and Albert's dinner...that is definitely one fancy & pricey meal I'd love to do someday. Until then...thank you for sharing the experience of that in pictures.

The festival is a lot of fun and glad I finally did it with so many great things to sample as well as the seminars! V&A's is quite expensive but an amazing dining experience. I love the cutting board, but don't have a photo of it, but may add one in time.

This May Take Some Work!

Thursday, October 19th (Part IV)
After a couple of attractions in Future World I made my return to World Showcase for the dinner portion of sampling more good eats. I took the shortcut through the Odyssey pavilion and Craft Beers and walked past Mexico towards China as that is where I left off before my culinary seminar.

I made my way near China and ready to indulge at my next kiosk, which would be South Korea. It was probably around 6 pm and I was feeling a bit hungry but not overly, but was looking forward to some more eats and beverages.

More good choices and all served with kimchi!

Korean Style BBQ Beef served with Cucumber Kimchi and Steamed Rice

This was good but the beef was a bit dry. I enjoyed the kimchi and rice much more. I accompanied it with a glass of the Bohae Bokbunjajoo Raspberry Wine, which was interesting and quite good!

There were still a few more booths I wanted to try and not necessarily in walking order. I walked over to the American Adventure as I knew there was something there I was looking forward to trying.

A couple of good choices on the menu but I knew what I wanted!

New England Lobster Roll

This was quite flavorful with very tender lobster meat, seasoned well and with a nice sauce. Certainly, a winner and one of my favorite eats today! I paired it with a glass of the La Crema Chardonnay, which is one I am familiar with and have bought it in the past.

An odd story to the CM serving my lobster roll. He was probably in his early twenties and I noticed his name tag. It said he was from Florham Park, NJ which is the town I spent the first six years of my life growing up in. I mentioned this to him and told him the street I grew up on and he was familiar with it. He was a bit amazed I was from there originally! This was interesting to say the least!

After enjoying my lobster roll, I continued walking past Japan and to Morocco as I could hear the entertainment on my approach and I wanted to enjoy the show for a while. There was quite a crowd and it wasn’t easy to get good photos, but I did my best to get a couple.

The Eat To The Beat concert at the American Gardens Theater was going on with Dennis DeYoung of Styx and it looks like the theater was quite full. I only watched it for a few minutes as I’m not much of a Styx fan.

Spaceship Earth starting to look good with the illumination setting in with a darkening sky.

Mexico and rear of La Hacienda Restaurant from across Crescent Lake.

One of my favorite things in World Showcase and never get tired of this in Germany.

Love all the little details in the German villages and the trains of course!

I probably spent a good ten minutes here and just observing the trains and the minute details of the display, which is quite fascinating. I just wait for the trains to come around as it takes a while with the size of this. Now, for some more eats with the next stop close by at Poland.

Some good choices and I’ve never had pierogies, but I wouldn’t be having that today.

Golbaki which is a Pork Stuffed Cabbage with Tomato Sauce.

I enjoyed this a lot and it had a lot of flavor and very tender. I think I made a good choice with this. I paired it with the Donausonne Blaufrankisch Hungarian Wine, which was also good. Now, for some dessert in Germany and a notable one.

Apple Strudel with a Vanilla Sauce. Becoming difficult to take food photos in the dark!

I enjoyed this a lot and the vanilla sauce complimented the strudel rather well. I was worried that the pastry crust would be dry but it wasn’t. No beverage for this except for my bottle of water.

I felt I could eat a little more and would visit one more kiosk and then call it a night on the dining. My last stop was Africa, which I think was close to China.

Two good choices and a tossup for me!

Buttered Chicken with Micro Cilanto and Naan Bread

I enjoyed this choice but was getting quite full and I knew this would be my last booth for the night. Again, I just paired it with my trusty bottle of water. After enjoying this selection, I began to head out of World Showcase and to the Festival Center as I wanted to do some shopping before the Illuminations crowds became a factor. It was probably about 8:15 pm or so.

Another great day in the World Showcase as I sampled so many good eats and some tasty beverages as well! There were several eats I didn’t get to try and would need another day to do this. I wouldn’t be returning to Epcot for the Festival during this trip, so that’s what next year is for! All of this does take its’ toll and I was becoming quite tired towards the end and knew it was time to return to the B Resort.

A nice surprise as I was leaving World Showcase. These are from Studios Star Wars fireworks show.

I got to the Festival Center in about ten minutes and it was quite crowded in the merchandise shop as others had the same idea I did and beat the Illuminations crowds. I pretty much knew what I wanted but it was just a matter of deciding which t-shirt I wanted. I decided on one of the F&W Festival shirts with all the countries listed. I also got a set of glass tumblers with the F&W Festival theme on them. I had to wait for people in line ahead of me as some were having some sort of problem with paying for their purchases. When it was my turn, I told the CM I wanted to pay using the remaining balance on my gift card as well as using my Disney Visa card for the 10% discount. I thought this would take some work, but she did it without any problem.

Once this was done I left the Festival Center and towards the park exits. Illuminations was just beginning. The Disney Springs buses usually arrive on the half hour and I probably just missed mine. I had to wait until the end of Illuminations and the crowds beginning to arrive at the bus hub. Our buses aren’t usually crowded, but were tonight. My bus arrived at about 9:35 pm and I was back to my resort after stops at the Hilton and Holiday Inn a bit before 10 pm.

I basically called it a night and headed to my room and worked on my notes for today and got ready for another long day tomorrow. I watched some TV programming for a while and went to bed around midnight or a bit before.

NEXT: It Really is a Small World!

Your F&WF tasting all looked very delicious, and I found them quite interesting as we didn't try any of these except for the apple strudel. We loved that, but now I need to see if some of these will be returning this fall.

They were all quite good and enjoyed so many of the offerings today! Should be interesting what will be on the menus this Fall and I'm sure we'll find out quite soon as the preview is at the end of this month!
