PTR: Thingamabobs, Zebras, & Giraffes, Oh My! - Page 39 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Oh my. As always, Emily is beautiful and you did a wonderful job with the photos. Cute pic of her and her date (growing up, Mom).
The pups - just priceless. I don't have a fave, love all the pics - but that last one is too cute.. Lily has such an expressive face. But then, so does Maggie. I don't know how you can stand to discipline either one of these little bugs.
Congrats on the trip!
As I commented on FB, those photos of Emily are absolutely amazing! The ones you showed here were some of my favorites.
Those puppies are getting cuter by the day.
Hope the meds switch helps out! I've seen most of those pics on Facebook already but they are all just so wonderful! Love that he brought a corsage and a teddy bear, just too cute!

So very glad that you may now have meds that will help you bounce back. I gather Scott is fully recovered from surgery? Wonderful photos of your beautiful daughter (her date is adorable!) and of those puppies! The look in Maggie's eye in the one of her holding the leaf is priceless. I used to have a Border Terrier who loved being out on a boat.
Thank you! Yes, Scott is pretty much as recovered as he will get! Shoulder wise anyway :roll eyes: (he still has issues with his back, but that's a whole other issue!). I think Em's date was quite the cutie too - he is such a nice kid - very polite and kind. Lucky for us - the pups seem to love the boat and pretty much anywhere we bring them!

Thank you! Emily is growing up WAY too fast! As Scott and I dropped them off at the dance the other night, we just sat there and said how did all this come so fast??? Sigh....

Thank you for you compliments on the photos - that means a lot coming from you (I am also so envious of your photography!!!)! They are awfully cute aren't they? :roll eyes: It is hard to stay mad at them when they chew something or have an accident!

Hope the meds help you out! Glad you are back. Great pics of Emily and th he puppy pics are adorable (I don't think I have commented on any of them on FB but I know I liked a bunch if them) I bet they are a ton of fun!!!
Glad you are in planning mode for another trip!!!!
Glad you are starting to feel better. The puppies are freaking adorable!! I love seeing the pictures on FB and Instagram. The pictures you took of Emily are beautiful and I love her dress for Homecoming, such a pretty color!!
I just came across this thread, and I loved reading all 30 something pages of it. Loved looking at the pictures. I'm not an animal person, as I've have been bitten by dogs twice. But I love the pictures of the dogs wearing their life jackets out on the water. Those are so cute.
I saw you booked another trip for April. My first trip ever was last April for the FGF. We loved it. Everything was cut and trimmed and looked amazing. I loved how they intertwined the FGF in the shapes of animals and characters around the park. You'll give going to the FGF, plus it's before the rainy season (and the hot summer) hits.

So nice to see you back posting. I've really been a slacker lately. Glad to hear things are looking up. Emily is so beautiful. These kids just grow up too quickly.
The little fur babies are too cute - i could just eat them up.

Okay - I am soooooooooooooooooooo SORRY!!! I have been slacking on this TR so bad!!! Things have always gotten in the way when I was ready to start!
October was a busy performing month for Emily. I have still been dealing with some minor medical issues. Scott is still working crazy amount of overtime ~ which leaves me the one to shuttle Em to dance, school activities, and take care of the puppies - so by the time I get to sit, I am ready for bed!
Then last week I spent quite a bit of time in the ER with Emily! It started Monday am out of the blue complaining of pain in her side..........urgent care said it was a kidney stone - she had blood in urine, etc. Ultrasound did not show a stone the next day, so they said she either passed it or did not have one??? Later that same day, she was in even more pain - so I took her to pediatrician, who then sent us to ER for more tests - turns out she has ovarian cysts and there was evidence that one ruptured (I have had much experience with this myself, so my heart breaks for her). We were sent home to have her rest and take motrin. She insisted on going to school the next day as it was near the end of the quarter. She missed dance that night, and the two nights before. Thursday she asked to stay home because she was exhausted and was not worried about that days classes (she had not missed any of them), so she stayed home, rested, napped, etc. When I came home from work she was ready for dance - still was not 100% but seemed much better. I dropped her off at dance, went to run errands, and was just about home when I received a call from the studio that Emily needed to be picked up she was not looking good and was in pain again So I turned around, picked her up, and headed straight back to the ER. Several hours later, more ultrasound, xrays, etc. - still just dealing with the cysts, have to let it ride out. Bed rest for the weekend. Luckily her dance rehearsals were cancelled for the weekend anyway, but the teen company did have plans for Halloween - she so badly wanted to go, as I had made her costume. I hesitantly let her go - I hung out at the house while the girls were out trick or treating in case she ended up in pain - but the night was good - she had a great time - and felt pretty decent! Now, the whole trick or treating thing was a REAL treat for the girls! As many of you know, the CDE is a community service performing company, and they rarely get a Friday night off (their standard rehearsal night), but they were given the night off this year! The teen company got together and decided they would go out together in their advisors neighborhood - and each of them would be a different Disney princess!!!!
Here is Emily......AKA Ariel......
Here is the Teen Company - 8 out of 10 of these costumes are handmade!!!
And of course, had to leave you some pup love!!!
