An Animal Kingdom State of Being with Cam and Fam COMPLETED 9/18 - Page 39 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I am so enjoying the pictures of your shopping excursions, who needs food porn we have retail porn....just as good
Poor Luke, no way to start a trip, but love how injured and all he made sure he rode the ride again. The sneak peek to your next post has me worried...don't want to think that the malfunctions followed you to WDW.
Poor Luke! I remember him telling me about the fall and how the TM was very slow in expressing help of any kind!
I must say, that by the time we saw Luke he was walking very well....broken toe and all!
Your wand is so cool! I love it!
I forgot to ask you, did you experience Butter Beer??
No chocolate frogs???? Now Stefanie, don't we love anything that is chocolate??
I am very happy that you took a few days to have some fun at Universal! I love the pictures and descriptions of WoHP!! It gives me something to look forward to!
And now here comes Stefanie's favorite part.....Disney!
Great update - minus the malfunctions! I forgot the name of it, but that show type thing that malfunctioned at the interesting part? It's okay, but not worth the wait IMO.
Your teaser sounds scary - I hope you shake those malfunctions soon!
And I'm extremely sympathetic about his foot. Not even with my current sprain, but I needed to rent a wheelchair in 2009 for our Disney trip due to a foot incident. I hope he heals quickly
Wow! I can't believe the TMs at Dueling Dragons weren't more helpful when Luke took his spill! Sounds like you had a great shopping adventure! I have two pairs of Sanuk sandals--the pink and the orange and I love them. I've been wearing then non stop since they arrived--my teva mush sandals are sadly neglected, collecting dust in the corner. I'm glad you guys got in another ride on Forbidden Journey. We are SO excited to ride this in April!
Finally caught up with you again(long week at work...ugh). So sorry about Luke's fall and his toe! That must have been quite a fall! Sounds like some great rides(for the ones that were working), lunch, and shopping you did! Love your sandals!
Sorry to hear about Luke's tumble! What a trooper he must be, though!
I all your HP purchases! I really like the Gryffindor shirt, but I think your awesome wand is by far the best!
I want to go to WWoHP but I don't want to face those crowds. We are currently rewatching all movies leading up to Part 2...We just finished Goblet of Fire! Few more to go. I bought Part 1 but I refuse to watch it til right before I go see Part 2...That way I don't have to wait & see the rest.
Love the wand! Love Sanuk flip flops! Sorry about Luke, I hope it doesn't slow you down too much. Can't wait to read more!

Aww poor Luke! I hope he was alright the rest of the time! What a trooper! (And the guy who yelled down...clueless much?! I know that would not have happened at Disney!)
I'm sorry you had so many malfunctions following you around! I'm glad you had a good time and got some great stuff at WWoHP! I love the t-shirts and the pins...and of course the wand! I hope to get there someday, but I know what you mean about it just not being Disney. Well I guess I don't, because I haven't been to US, but I'll take your word for it and know that I assumed right.
Can't wait to hear what comes next!!! Hope the malfunctions stop soon and the magic comes quickly!
Luke really is a trooper; very seldom does anything keep him down. The malfunctions won't last too much longer, but we were a bit worried that at first we had carried them from US to WDW with us.

Love all of your purchases. Those Sanuks look super comfy! They just opened a Sanuk store at Downtown Disney in DLR, if you ever make it out that way someday!
Can't wait to hear about the Disney part of your vacation, though I'm a little worried about continued ride malfunctions!
Your poor thing. I can't imagine breaking my toes that often, even though I'm terribly clumsy, too. I tend to cut myself and get gashes when I fall. The newest malfunction won't be with a ride.

Luke said this Express Pass Line was definitely an afterthought and not well thought out.

Fav pic - for some reason, I love the pic with your meal with your notebook beside it
(I hope Luke's foot gets better!)
When I was cropping that picture, I almost took the notebook out and then I realized all my PP buddies would appreciate that notebook.

We are always happy just to be together for two weeks with no work and no interruptions, so it makes it easier to deal with the occasional accident.

Love your purchases. I got McGonnagalls wand. DH got Sirius'.
How ! When I first began to read the books I thought it would be so neat to be the teacher at a wizarding school. Love the professors!

I just had to smile when he told me he rode the ride anyway. He was there to have fun and he was going to have fun, hurt or not.

He was walking okay, but each night his poor feet would be so swollen. We didn't try the Butter Beer as it just never sounded refreshing when we were so hot. I guess Stefanie draws the line on chocolate with frogs because I couldn't convince her it would be yummy. She kept telling me she'd rather have peanut M&Ms. She was up and ready quickly the next morning because we were finally going to WDW.

We'll shake those nasty malfunctions soon. Thank goodness!

I don't think he even considered not riding. Now I'd have had to sit down in the A/C and take pain killers.

I was glad we went back as the 25 minute wait was nice and we noticed so much more the second time around. If Stefanie hadn't been getting bored, we might have ridden one more time.

Glad you've caught back up because as Stefanie would say we're just getting to the good part.

The wand is still one of my favorite souvenirs from this whole trip.

Ol I hate that Luke fell down the steps , sounds like he is being a real trooper and makin the best of it! So cool that you got to ride WWoHP again, and with a short wait. Very cool shirts and flops! I hope the malfunctions dont last to long and the problem gets fixed soon!

Poor Luke! I'm guessing that was his "over it" moment. The parks there are fine, but just not Disney. Anyway, glad you enjoyed your time there and love seeing all your purchases. Really can't wait for the Disney part (though judging by your teaser, I'm a bit worried about that too).

Mickey's so happy to see me back, he can barely contain himself!
I can't believe your DH broke his toe! What a lousy souvenier!
Did you ever go inside the Three Broomsticks or HogsHead? They were really cool inside. I thought all the themeing there was just outstanding!
I loved Mythos too, it was just so luxurious inside! And the food was great too!
I really wished I could have ridden FJ again. I know I missed so many details!
We were really blessed that it was raining the morning we went to IOA. It really kept the crowds down and the grey skies looked better in the pictures! It did clear up later, but that was after we had finished the WWoHP.
Can't wait to hear about the Disney part of the trip!
