The Surviving Deployment Trip Report, Updated 10/18 COMPLETE!! - Page 39 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Catching up a little more tonight! You all had a great day at DTD! And your pictures are awesome -- I felt like I was walking around Once Upon a Story with you. And I'm like you; I love to read TRs with loads of pictures. I feel like I'm traveling along with folks. Sorry about your sore throat!
Great time meeting some characters at DHS; sorry you forgot Michael and your still so sick. That is pretty funny about the stroller; although I would imagine the man was getting pretty frustrated- some of those strollers can be VERY difficult to fold!
We arrived at Epcot and I took this picture. I it!
Then we spotted a couple of characters we hadn't seen yet. First we saw Daisy. She was adorable and loved her picture. Daisy really liked Victoria's tiara, and Victoria told her it would really look good on her. Daisy did a little move and touched her rear end like she was sizzling hot. It was so funny! I didn't know it until I saw the picture, but she saluted. How sweet!
Next up was Stitch. He was cute and cuddly.
Since we were right there, we took a ride on SE again. This time we made silly faces when it took our pictures.
After SE, I wanted to go to the Disney Visa meet 'n greet, and wouldn't you know, I walked into the wrong Innovations. I am so directionally challenged. But, since we were in here, we went to the Severe Weather Replicator. It was pretty neat. You wear 3D glasses and sit through a raging storm. The simulator stops, and there is an interactive screen in front of you where you choose from different safety precautions for your house. Then, you weather the storm again and see how your choices work out. It was pretty neat, and we both learned a few things.
We left there and went to the other Innovations and got in line. The line was a little longer than I expected it to be, but we were indoors and cool. Victoria played with some games and stuff that were in the area while I stood in line.
We met Pluto and Mickey. They were both very sweet.
We got a free photo, and I picked it up on our way out, but I will post it now. I think it turned out well.
Up next, we headed to the Land to grab a bite to eat and get something to drink. We passed the Jammitors.
We went to Sunshine Seasons and just got two large sodas and a bag of pretzels. We had our ressies at 4:10 at Le Cellier and knew we'd be pigging out there.
We had never seen the Circle of Life film, so we decided to go there and sit in the cool. We drank our drinks and ate our snack in there, too. They didn't tell us we couldn't.
After the film, we went to England. We passed Imagination, first.
I really would have liked to have stopped and listened to the British Invasion, but it was too bloomin' hot.
We went inside the Toy Soldier to see if we could see Mary Poppins. We met a very nice CM inside who said to watch him because he would be with her next and when he left and went outside, he was going to be with her and we could follow him. Sure enough, a CM came to relieve him with Pooh and the gang, and we went outside and saw where he went to be with Mary Poppins. I took a few pictures along the way.
Mary Poppins loved Victoria's drawings and flipped through her book. She asked Victoria to hold her parasol while she looked. (She called the parasol by a name, but I can't remember what.)
After that, we went to see Alice. Victoria couldn't get over how tiny she was. Victoria told her she has dressed as her for the Halloween party, and Alice was flattered and told her that Victoria could dress as her, and she would dress as Victoria, and they could switch places.
We then went to Canada to browse. Once again, it was just too hot to sit and watch these guys.
Victoria cracks me up!
We went to the back of Canada, and I was too hot to take any pictures. Sweat was pouring off of me. I'm not used to having wet arms when I haven't been swimming or been in the shower. Gross! I told Victoria we were going to see Oh Canada.
She was thrilled as you can tell.
I realize we had to stand, and our feet were hurting, but I didn't feel well, and it was nice and cool in there. And the movie is really good. I enjoyed all of the pictures, and I think that Victoria did, too.
We walked out of there and straight into Le Cellier to check in. They had water! Victoria got each of us a cup of water. It was nice and cold. As we sat there waiting to be seated, I watched this cute CM bring one little pitcher of ice water and pour it into the dispenser. Then, she would walk back to the kitchen (I'm assuming.) and get another pitcher and bring it back to pour into the dispenser. It was funny because she never filled the water dispenser. It was so hot outside, and people were so thirsty that the water didn't last long. I guess this was her job. This is all she did. She continually poured one little pitcher of water into this large dispenser, and it never filled up. I would think that would be quite maddening after a while.
Our name was finally called. I'm not sure how long we waited. Maybe 10 minutes or so. It wasn't bad at all. We were taken to a two-top table where one seat was a booth along the wall and the other was a chair. Does that make sense? I say that because the table to the left was occupied with a family of four, and the woman had her stuff all over the bench. She had to move it out of the way so I could sit down. They were an odd couple. The woman kept staring at us. I don't know why. It was most annoying. I don't like to be stared at especially by a stranger when I am eating dinner.
Anyway, our server came. I so wanted to remember his name. He was WONDERFUL!!! We loved him. I had to have the soup, so I ordered a cup of it. Victoria and I both ordered the filet mignon, but we got it with the mashed potatoes. We aren't too keen on mushrooms. We also both ordered the chocolate mousse for dessert. For our drinks, Victoria ordered the Mango Smoothie with a splash of Cranberry. I got the virgin strawberry daquiri. Had I known that mango smoothie would be so fabulous, I would have gotten it. It was to die for.
My soup came. I let Victoria try some before I did since she wouldn't be able to eat after me since I was sick. It was heavenly, and we loved the breadsticks, especially the pretzel bread.
We really enjoyed sitting together and talking and eating our appetizers. Once they were gone, our meal came right out.
OH MY GOSH!! The filet was so tender. The potatoes were so creamy. We both declared this as our favorite meal ever and our new favorite restaurant. We had never been to Le Cellier before, and we will definitely go again. Next time, with Michael.
Ohhhhhh....there was so much food. My tummy just isn't big enough for all of the food. I know my tummy looks big, but it doesn't hold a lot. Then came the mousse. It was so cute.
Victoria had fun with the moose's tongue.
Neither of us could finish our dessert. It was just too much. I was going to be waddling out of Le Cellier. As our server came to check on us, the chef came by to see how we had enjoyed our meal. We told him it was perfect. He seemed most pleased. I felt honored that he stopped by our table. He didn't ask either of the tables beside us.
We settled our bill with the DDP and were out the door, filled to the brim with fabulous food.
We always take a picture of Victoria in front of Victoria Gardens.
A nice CM came by and offered to take both of our pictures. I happily handed over my camera.
Yummo! Drooling now due to memories of Le Cellier...
Can't wait to read more!

This is absolutely HYSTERICAL What are there like 6 people all bent over trying to close this thing! Too funny!!
We are going to Le Cellier this coming trip for our first time, I am really looking forward to it. Especially after your review and picture of the pretzel bread...YUM!!

Isn't that just too funny? And all of those people had been on the bus while the one man fumbled with the stroller. I felt so bad for them.
I hope you love Le Cellier as much as we did. It was so yummy good. I would definitely pay OOP for it. I can't wait to take Michael there...hopefully in April.
We left Canada and decided to see the Pooh characters. Even though we saw them at the Halloween party, we needed everyone's autograph. So, we went to England to say hello. I took a couple of pictures while we waited in line.
I had never noticed this before. This is Mary Poppins' magical bag and the lamp that she pulls from it.
This is the only picture I have from the encounter. The PP guy took the rest, and I don't have those yet.
We walked outside and saw Aurora greeting in the shade. Victoria was so excited to see her because she is her favorite princess. Victoria also likes Prince Philip the best out of all the princes. She says that Prince Philip actually goes after Aurora and fights for her and works hard to get to her. Prince Charming is hardly ever seen. Cinderella's prince sends someone else out to do the work for him. Aladdin doesn't count because he isn't really a prince. Prince Eric is clueless and doesn't see that he's with the woman of his dreams the whole time. She has a point. Anyway, I didn't get any pictures. The PP guy did. So, we have to wait for those pics.
We left England and headed to France to see if Belle and the Beast were greeting. They were, but their line was closed, and only Belle would be out later. We wouldn't get to see Beast. We looked around France.
We went to Morocco to look around. There isn't anywhere cool to browse in Morocco. It was so hot. I did take some pictures as we walked around.
We saw Aladdin and Jasmine greeting so we got in line. Jasmine was sweet, but Aladdin was awesome! We both fell in love with Aladdin. I videoed the encounter, and I am so glad I did. That means, I don't have any pictures, but the PP girl does. I hope they are good. Aladdin loved looking at Victoria's book. He saw Quasimodo and said, "Look Jasmine! There's you!" She had a nice comeback, "When I wake up in the mornings!" They were fun.
Aladdin then saw Clopin. Yes, Victoria drew characters that are extremely, extremely rare. We haven't seen Clopin in years. Aladdin said, "I love Clopin. He's one of my favorites."
I said, "I wish we could see him. We haven't seen him in years."
Aladdin said, "Oh, I saw him wandering around in France this afternoon. Hey, you know. If you want to hang out here, this line is going down, and I can take your book to him and get him to sign it for you."
Of course we said yes! How cool is that? So, Victoria and I hung out around Aladdin and Jasmine. I took a picture while we waited.
When the line closed, and Aladdin and Jasmine were finished, Aladdin came up to us and took the book. He also asked for a lot of colors because Clopin likes a lot of color. He told us he'd be right back. He said we could wait for him at the door. Victoria and I agreed that it was too bad that Aladdin couldn't change costumes really quick and come out as Clopin. So, we waited by the door.
After a while, the PP CM came out with Victoria's book. She said Aladdin couldn't come back himself because Abu had gotten into Jasmine's jewels, and he had to take care of that. The CM talked to us a while about Victoria's book and the college program and that there was a program for artists. She was on the college program herself, and she told us how it worked. It was very informative, and we were happy to get to talk to her. She was so sweet. We thanked her for bringing the book back to us, and we went on our way with a very awesome autograph from the never seen Clopin.
We wandered around the WS very slowly. I was not feeling very well. The heat and the congestion and not being able to take a deep breath were really getting to me. I took picture as we went. We were hoping to see Snow White in Germany so we walked that way.
Snow White was gone for the day, so we settled for a picture with her wishing well.
Victoria really wanted to ride MS. I knew I didn't feel like it. I didn't know what the pressure of the ride would do to my breathing. So, I decided to sit it out with Michael.
After MS, we decided to go over to the MK. I had a PP meet at 9 p.m., over there. On the way out, I took more pictures of SE.
I stopped by the photo center to pick up our free Visa picture, and we decided to take a bus this time. Honestly, I didn't want to walk the ramp up to the monorail. My breathing was so shallow.
We were the only people on the bus. As we got on the bus, Victoria noticed that Michael had lost a shoe. We didn't see it anywhere that we could see, and we weren't going to go back to look for it. He would have to be shoeless for the rest of the trip.
Once we got to MK, we decided to take the ferry over. We got to watch Wishes as we waited for the ferry and then once we were on. It was nice.
Wishes was early this night due to EMH at MK. Our PP meet was at 9 p.m., at CHH.
I forgot to include Victoria's drawings from earlier today. So, I am including those now.
She hasn't drawn Dug or Russell yet. Here is Carl.
She hasn't drawn Mary Poppins yet either. It's a real person, and she is more hesitant with real people.
