The Continuing Story of the Adventures of a CM! - Page 39 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Wouldn't we all like to be able to just go stay at PO when something was wrong with our house??? Hope things are back to normal soon. And congrats on the "official" nameplate. You've come so far!!!
Hope they got to fix the A/C - as much as I am sure that staying at the POR is not a hardship I am sure that it does throw off your schedule since you are not staying at home. Hope everything is fixed and that you are back home soon.
We don't worry too much about A/C normally, but the last couple of days I would have loved to have it! It has been 75 degrees with no breeze......I know, I know, all you Southerners are probably saying, 75??? who cares, but in Alaska, 75 can be stifling!!!
Hope you got it fixed and that you enjoyed your stay at PO!! Just think....Working at Disney will give you the opportunity to stay at all the resorts - I think I'm jealous!!

What did you do with the doggies during the move over to PO? Hope the AC is fixed and life can get back to normal...well as normal as it was.

Sorry to incite jealousy! Just one of the perks, I guess...
PO was the last of the standard Disney resort "families" we needed to stay in to be able to say we've done 'em all. The only one left is FTW cabins. I was pretty darned crushed, let me tell ya. I'd never even visited before and it is indeed a very lovely resort. 10yo found the food court to be "creepy", but she's not a fan of clowns and face-looking things. I found the beignets to be YUMMY! That and a side of strawberries makes a lovely breakfast. Just sayin'
Older DDs decided to tough it out with no A/C at night w/ the dogs. With the windows open and the fans all going, they all were fine. Here's the kicker, though...DD's BF was poking around and discovered that the condensor pan (?) had filled up which caused the emergency switch to turn off. All we had to do was drain this pan thingy... on the $$$ spent this weekend, BUT, younger DDs enjoyed their mini-vacay, so that was good news. They bussed over to All Stars to have lunch with me both days which was also nice. Anywho, A/C is up and running and we're home.
Back up to Saturday...I took DDs to Citrico's as a dining ressie was the ONLY way to get anywhere on property. It was a lovely dinner, but I don't know that I'd call it a favorite. I opted for 2 appetizers and while the crab was DELISH, the shrimp was sort of icky, really. We went to the boat dock about 8pm and waited as it filled in for the 4th of July fireworks. All I can say is . Anything after that will be anemic. My only complaint was we couldn't hear the track very well from Narcoosee's partly due to the volume and partly due to rude guests who just could not be quiet long enough to listen.
Afterwards, I took DDs over to the resort to settle in and I had to dash home for a few forgotten things. I caught the finale of Epcot's fireworks while driving and it was also WHOA!!!
I had to work on Sunday and obviously that was a hard day for everyone. There was lots of general craziness including my having to make a run to DHS at 730 at night to pick up a package to deliver to a guest. It's all part of the job! I was able to make some magic for some folks along the way, which is always the best. Today was more work and I had 7 trips among the 3 All Star "themes" before it was over with! Tomorrow is an opening shift for me, which means 6am. Ick. The good part is I'll be off at 330 and I have Wed/Thurs off!
I was concerned that I wouldn't be moving as much as I did in Dinoland. Wrong! I also do not believe that I will ever be *bored*...

Helping out with packages does make a lot of magic. Last time we were at The World one of the DTD stores messed up and didn't send one of my items. When I contacted them, they said that it was up to me to rectify it. I had one full day left and plans.... I stopped by concierge at the BWI (our resort) and asked if there was anything they could do to help sort out the issue. After talking to a manager at the shop, he was more angry than I was! He told me not to worry, leave him the receipt, and it would be taken care of. He made some serious magic that day. I made sure to let his manager know how grateful I was that he went above and beyond.
Anyway, glad you're not bored and that things are going well!
If DD's BF can fix the a/c now, maybe he's a keeper!
