As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

Moving on with the current of the years.

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

Loved the slipper! Becki looks like she is having a great time!
I showed the slipper to DH since we are going back in May 2011 for my big 4 - 0 beday and told him I wanted something like that for my beday. He laughed at me and said "Two weeks in Disney isn't enough?" I looked at him with a very straight face and said firmly !!! Is he ?????
I know the answer to the cattle issue but I think that's because we found out at the same time.
Can't wait to read more! It's helping me relive our trip too.

What a great way to celebrate Becki's birthday! The Chocolate Slipper looks so delicious. I actually think several of the princesses were scary that morning. They look very different from the usual versions.
The breakfast looks yummy. Too bad about the grumpy hostess--what a way to be greeted for your special meal. She needs to switch jobs--one of the Evil queens would suit her well.
Dylan just isn't ready for a princess in his life quite yet!

That French Toast was A-MAZING! I could eat that and the berries that came with the slipper every morning for breakfast!

Thank you! Some of the princesses were rather different looking I thought, but I haven't really been up close with them so I wasn't sure if it was just me, but I'm glad it wasn't. You'd think they'd get some better ones for the castle?!

I LOL at the conversation between you & your DH. I sure hope he gets it for you! Don't go telling the answer about the cattle now - as yes we did hear about it at the same time.

Great update! I love going to CRT -- even without any kids! I've never seen Ariel at breakfast though! She certainly looked a little pointy!
CRT was a lot of fun and it's on my debatable list for a place I may want to eat on my 30th next year. Maybe there's a reason you haven't seen Ariel at breakfast if the one we got was any indication.

6/9/09 – Becki’s Birthday Celebration Day! (cont.)
After breakfast we headed back down Main Street and headed to Harmony Barber Shop. Dylan needed a haircut badly and what better way to have it done than at Disney. [Dylan did have his very first haircut at HBS on his First Birthday/Visit Trip as well.] The haircuts here are cheaper than they are at home and he seems to do much better at WDW too. There were a few people in front of us, but we still decided to wait. While waiting Chip & Dale were out for a meet n greet so Dylan watched them and then they went inside and this was Dylan’s reaction: Where'd they go?
We also saw the Move It! Shake It! Celebrate it! parade go by while waiting. Finally we made it into the shop and eventually got Dylan up on a chair. Penny cut Dylan’s hair this time and we occupied him with stickers, bubbles, cars, etc. Soon my baby looked like a little boy again. They really are great with kids and I think we’ll get Dylan’s hair cut here every time we go.
After the haircut I was feeling a little dizzy/shaky so I went to the restroom and then decided my blood sugar was dropping. I got a Sprite ($2.50 I think) and we headed for the WDW RR. We took the train to Toontown where it was VERY crowded. We kind of just meandered through there (one of these days we’ll get around to actually doing stuff there). We went through Tomorrowland I guess then on to Fantasyland where there were 20 minute waits for Pooh and IASW. No thank you, so we moved on. Pirates had a 40 minute wait – again, no thank you! We then headed for the shops and strolled through there.
Soon it was time for Becki & I to head to the GF for our Afternoon Tea. We left the boys behind – making sure Mike could handle getting Dylan back to the AKL himself – and made our way out of MK and headed for the monorail. [The boys were going to head back to the room and let Dylan nap.]
Becki & I arrived early for tea (our appointment was at 2pm – when they open) so we strolled around through the shops. We spent quite a bit of time in Basin, but ended up with nothing there. We went into another shop – the Sandy Cove – where I bought a few postcards (for Fairy Godmailing), a snack of coconut patty bars for Mike (he LOVES these), and 2 pins – a Mickey ‘World’s Best Dad’ pin and a Minnie ‘World’s Best Mom’ pin (this all set me back $27.85). They were too cute not to pass up and I have since lost my Minnie ‘World’s Best Mom’ pin. We also looked in the other clothing/souvie stores, but didn’t find anything. [I looked for a belt I was comfortable enough spending on and something I’d actually wear again as most of the shorts I brought with me were way to big and were sliding down my waist. Normally would be a good thing, but my insulin pump also weighs down shorts/pants so it made it even worse. I had a belt with me, but it was a skinny one and it wasn’t really doing it’s job as I had to tighten it so much and my shorts were so big that the belt would be above the top of my shorts – yeah nice image there isn’t it. At least all my shirts were long enough and they kind of helped the shorts stay up. Anyway – no belt was ever found and I just suffered through pulling my shorts up every few minutes.]
Back to our story, it was time for our tea and we were seated in the back corner next to the window. It wasn’t crowded and it was nice to kind of sit by ourselves for most of our time there. Angela was our server and she was excellent! She explained everything very well and since I had noted it was Becki’s birthday on our ADR she brought her out a button (because Becki wasn’t wearing hers – I know!). We both ordered the Buckingham Palace and while Becki had the, ok now I can’t remember, I think Becki had the Mad Hatter or the Garden View blend tea. I know I had the Eros (orange and vanilla). Love that tea! Our sandwiches came out shortly and we enjoyed all of them, but the one with the cucumber is my fave! Then it was on to the tart and scones! MMMMMM….just thinking about it now makes my mouth water!! Next was dessert, since it was Becki’s birthday Angela let her also have the option of the English trifle – normally you can choose strawberries and cream or 2 of the pastries. So of course she got the trifle – and OMG! Was it good (she shared of course) and huge too! I chose 2 pastries – I know I got a swan with raspberry mouse and I think a tiny pecan pie. Both were tasty! For those that have been to tea before you know how good it is and I think it’s something you can definitely go back to again and again. It’s such a nice, relaxing break from the craziness that the parks can be. Anyway, Angela informed us that you can actually buy the tea that they serve. WHAT?! I was not told this last time nor had I ever heard about it. She said you can only buy it from the Lounge, but if you don’t have an ADR and still want tea you just have to ask at the podium. So I got a tin of the Eros to take home. It looks small, but since the leaves are dried and you only need a little it will last a long time – about a year I was told. Suffueciently stuffed and after settling the bill ($74.79 after tax, tip, and the Eros) we headed out to see what the boys were up to.
All the photos of Dylan are way too cute! I love the "where did they go?" one--the little frown on his face is so sweet. His outfit (what I can see behind all the stickers!) is adorable, too--is that Pluto on his shirt?
I just love the GF tea. I always get the Buckingham Palace with Garden View tea, but I think I'll try the Eros next time--sounds delicious. Wish I had some of those scones right now!

Normally would be a good thing, but my insulin pump also weighs down shorts/pants so it made it even worse. I had a belt with me, but it was a skinny one and it wasn’t really doing it’s job as I had to tighten it so much and my shorts were so big that the belt would be above the top of my shorts – yeah nice image there isn’t it.
Our sandwiches came out shortly and we enjoyed all of them, but the one with the cucumber is my fave!
