A Spring Adventure: Wilderness, Flowers, and the Force (with Cam and Luke) PTR Updated 5/22 - Page 38 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Great plans, now that I'm caught back up!
We were surprised how much we were able to do in the New Fantasyland on our Christmas trip. December 26, and we did everything we wanted - including Storytime with Belle (I think that was the one FP+ we kept). Did Little Mermaid, Dumbo, etc, all before about 10 am! Hope you're able to get in all you want to do, and can make use of some strategic FP+ swapping!

Just joining the party... and so very excited to read another Cam PTR! What fantastic plans. Wilderness Lodge holds a very special place in my heart, as that was our "home" for our first trip to WDW... when the kids were tiny, and we all fell in love with Disney! We've since given our hearts to AKL, but nothing beats that relaxing boat ride to MK. We hope to make it back there one of these days!
Great plans. Awesome that you can fit both Star Wars Weekend and the Flower Show in one trip!

Get this popular e-book free of extra charges when you join the PassPorter's Club for as little as $4.95. A club pass includes access to all our other e-books; e-worksheets; super-size photos; and more! This e-book is also available for separate purchase in the PassPorter Online Store for just $5.95.
I like the planning of "photography" time. I lose my head sometimes with getting from A to B in the parks that I forget to stop and "smell" the flowers. Can't wait to see your pages! Those topiaries will be quite a sight!
Photographing the F&GF is something I've wanted to do for so long.

Oh - and by the way - apparently I did try a Once Upon a Vine wine.....starting writing up my TR (haven't posted yet ) from the F&WF and noticed that I had it in my notes
I know if someone looked back at my PTR plans and then what we actual did in the TR, they'd wonder why I ever make any plans. I can't wait to hear what you thought of the Once Upon a Vine wine.

I love taking pictures of this resort. The last time we stayed here, we found some cool spots we'd never known were there, e.g. a rooftop access view looking out over the front of the lodge.
Your plans sound awesome. And we really need to go shopping together sometime!
Absolutely! I know we'd have so much fun.

How neat that you two got the F&GF as part of your honeymoon. Glad you're along for the PTR.
I'm looking forward to hearing all about this day and what you think of the Flower and Garden Festival and the various food offerings.
This day may be one I'm most excited about as it seems forever that I've wanted to make it to the F&GF.

I know I'll be doing lots of experimenting. That's is one of the greatest things about digital photography. I can practice and practice as I go. BTW -- I your new sig pic.
Oh, I love Epcot so much! I would be there everyday if I had my way.
Epcot is a very close second to AK as my favorite park.

I've been eying some die cut kits for the F&GF on scrapyourtrip.com. They have paper for every part of it including the butterfly garden.

I was an uberplanner our first few trips, but we've gotten so much more relaxed over the years that it did feel weird to be thinking about where we'd be at what time in each park.
What great plans!!
I haven't used FP+ yet, but from what I've read, I like the flexibility to change your times if one ride has a short wait. I'm planning a November trip, but my DS is going in a few weeks. I"m hoping he becomes an expert on all this "techno-stuff", because Mama is not the sharpest tool when it comes to that!
Can't wait to see all your photos!!!
I plan on giving a review and pointers on all the techno stuff once we've actually lived it.

This is my kind of day - fun rides in the a.m., followed by a nice walk through WS stopping to eat yummy food at the outdoor kitchens.
The slower pace does sound sweet!

A part of me is hoping that before our trip arrives, FP+ will be available for the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. If so, we'll swap at Under the Sea for that one.

You all sound like us as WL was our first DVC visit 10 years ago, so it is special to us, full of memories. But once I'd stayed at AKL, my heart was stolen.
This update was late due to an outage this morning with our internet provider. By the time it came back online, I had other things to do, especially at it was sunny and in the 60s today. I hope this reads well as I've been half typing and half watching the U of L and UK game, rooting for U of L. Go Cards!
Day 4 Plans (Thursday, May 15)
Today will find us in my favorite park, Animal Kingdom. Park hours are currently posted as 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Our FastPass+ selections for this day are:
9:15 – 10:15 AM -- Kilimanjaro Safaris (tied with ToT for my favorite ride). I’m actually hoping the stand by line has a short wait, so that we can enter and ride and then return with our FP+. Two rides back to back in the morning would make me a very happy animal photographer.
After our ride(s) on Kilimajaro Safaris, we’ll wander the Pangani Forest Trails, so I can hopefully get photos of meerkats and gorillas, especially Lily.
For lunch, we will probably go to Flame Tree Barbeque as it has become a favorite and has the great seating overlooking the water.
1:05 – 2:05 PM – Dinosaur
2:30 – 2: 50 PM -- Finding Nemo – The Musical. We don’t do this one every trip and it has probably been two or three trips since we’ve done it. This show is 40 minutes long, so we’ll be exiting right as Mickey’s Jammin’ in the Jungle parade begins. Hopefully, we can still manage a spot for it somewhere in Asia towards the end of the route. We’re not going to be disappointed if we don’t make it, but thought we’d give it a try since by the time we return it will be gone.
After the parade, I want to be sure to see the gibbons and then wander the Maharajah Jungle Trek. I am sure at some point in the day Luke will ride Expedition Everest via the single rider line.
Dinner tonight is at my favorite restaurant, Sanna, at Animal Kingdom Lodge/Kidani Village. I plan on checking out both the Kidani and Jambo gift shops before we head back to WL. Zawadi is my favorite resort gift shop.
