Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Jeez, dude-on-bus. The bus driver was trying to HELP you! Not to mention, I hardly think what you spent on your vacation would have paid for a bus. People like that drive me nuts!

Thanks Marnie! I was sorry we missed it too, at first. But watching my daughter enjoying the music and dancing. Just having a good time, without "doing" anything was fantastic too!

This sort of thing just really ticks me off, and I really don't know how the CMs can be so tolerant of this kind of behavior. Okay...vent over.

Sorry you missed Fantasmic, but it looks like your daughter's happiness made up for it in the end.
Umm...that would be a no, Melissa. I used my editing powers within my post. The man actually said the word. I just couldn't believe he acted like that when the driver was just telling him needed information.
Because of riding a scooter, another person and their party and I were the last to get off the bus. While the driver was unhooking our scooters, I said to the bus driver, "I am really sorry about that guy. That was really rude and uncalled for. It's sad when other passengers, feel that they should apologize for someone else's behavior." Because honestly, I thought the driver needed to know, that there were plenty of people on that bus who thought that guy was out of line. The other people left on the bus nodded their heads. I looked at them and back to the driver and said "I would have loved to see him go flying out of the bus, after that!" Everyone laughed and agreed. But then the driver said "Well, that wouldn't be good as I would be held responsible for it. That is why I told him that. Plus, if the doors open while the bus is in motion, the brakes are automatically applied. So while it's a nice thought, it would not be good."

A little later I was at the smoking area and just started telling Lorraine about him, when I saw him. So I quickly had to say hold on, thats him! LOL

Thanks Melissa, I did have a great time just enjoying my daughters happiness.

It's one of our faves too Kathy. Last year though, was the first year I (or anyone) had gone for lunch instead of dinner. I just love the Pot Roast, and I am from NE! I think I like it just slightly more than dinner, but would gladly go for either meal dependent on my schedule.

Really, I am sure his vacation paid for that bus. Some people are just so ignorant. What a great example for his 2 kids and the kids of the friends they were with. Like 5 kids in their party alone, and he is cursing at the driver for telling him safety precautions. Nice.

Sorry about Fantasmic - we have missed it many times due to the crowds, love the show but waiting in that crowd...not so fun. So glad that DH and DD enjoying the music put a smile back on your face. The clock sounded like a great deal (a great purchase always can put me in a great mood).

Sorry about the not too happy passenger on the bus...glad to know he quieted down for the rest of the ride back to the resort.

LOVING your TR!
I think since I am all caught up, I can remember all my comments! LOL

1) Ohhh LTT...we are eating there for dinner for the first time on our upcoming trip. I hope we have a good experience like you...and I'm laughing that you told your DH what to order. During my planning, I have told my entire family...you need to order this, you should order that. LOL

2) I don't think your pictures are too big either! Just right!

3) Sorry you missed Fantasmic, but I loved how you turned that all around into a positive experience. Thanks for sharing that b/c I need to remember to do that! You can always find something positive and sometimes you have to just stop and remember that what you are doing is not really that important, but who you are with while you are there! My dd's love Fantasmic, but we may just be skipping it on this upcoming trip...that was our plan until we just found out they added a second show...hmm...we'll see.

Okay, when I read in your OP about this man....I thought the same thing, I wish he would have fallen out of the bus! What a jerk! But then I read what the bus driver said and I felt even worse for him (the bus driver). Poor guy...he was just doing his job, and trying to keep the man safe. I'm glad you told him sorry (even though it wasn't you who should have apologized). Sometimes when people are rude to someone it is just nice to hear that people felt like the rude person is the jerk...even though we already know it. It's just nice to hear others say it. LOL

When I read the last part where you said: "That's him!" I started LMBO b/c all I could think of is "That guy" from the Laughing Floor at MK. Wouldn't just love to give him a "That's the jerk guy from the bus" sticker to wear all day long. LOL I'm sure whenever he was spotted by others who were on the bus, they all stopped and said, "That's him!" "or he's the guy from the bus!".

Can't wait to read more! Your TR's are so fun!

The clock is so cool. DH and I look at it every morning because it's next to my kitchen table and say how we are glad about that purchase. I should take a pic of it to put up here for you all to see.

Yeah, I was glad to that he was quiet the rest of the way home too. I am sure others on the bus were glad as well!

Hi sailbot! I am sorry I don't know your name. Thank you so much for all your nice comments. It made my night to hear how much you are enjoying my TR and that it's fun.

LTT is fantastic for both lunch or dinner, you can't go wrong either way. You know that dinner is family style right? OMG it's so good!
I pulled the same commander tactic at another ADR, stayed tuned for that story!

About the pictures, when I came on the next day, they were all the size they should be. I'll tell you at first, it was like the difference between a 4x6 and 8x10 on the screen!

I felt the same way about the bus driver. It bothered me enough, that I did speak up and say something to the driver. Your reasons were the exact reasons I did it and I am glad I did! It made me chuckle to hear your comments about other people from that bus ride, saying "Oh there's that guy!" mostly because that probably did happen. I hope and try to give the benefit of the doubt that maybe it was a long hard day for him, and that he is not just naturally like that all the time.

Hoping to get another post out tomorrow! Thanks for following along.

Post Day 4 Friday Sept. 16, 2011 AK Day

Today was the day I planned on sleeping late. However, I decided to get up even earlier than I was before this, so I was up at 5:30 to shower and then go do a load of laundry. It was the only load done during the whole trip. Of course, I made my usual round of morning talk with Lorraine. Nevertheless, by 9:15 am we were on the bus on the way to AK! I don’t care what anyone says, that park is the hottest and it was yet again darn close to 95.

I had a few must do’s in this park, including some new things for us to try. First was breakfast at TH. This is one of our favorites, and DH asked for it specifically. We enjoy the large buffet and the character interaction. After spending some quality time with Mickey, Goofy, and Daisy and filling our bellies to the hilt, we started outside only to be stopped by a CM.

They were conducting a test that day, and wanted to know if we were interested in trying it out. It is a Kim Possible like game, where you are finding stations and they stamp your paper, all the tasks are learning about conservation and the like. We said sure! We were given our paper and told we had 3 stamps to get and then come back to take a survey on what we thought about it. DD had a hard time reading the maps, so we helped her. Within 15minutes, we had finished and went to take the survey. This was the hard part, DD didn’t get it. Therefore, I mostly filled in the answers based on what she was saying while we were doing it, and what I knew she would like better. Once that was done, we were off!

We made our way over to Dinorama. While in the smoking area, DD asked if we could ride the dinosaur ride. I said “Sure!” So, DD and I went. When we got inside to the part where you go down the level to the “cars”, DD exclaims “NOT this ride, the flying dinosaurs!” Apparently, she was talking about Triceritop Spin. I said to her “Well let’s do this one since we are here, and then we will go on the flying dinosaurs, okay?” She agreed. We got on the ride, and she soon her hands were over her face yet again. I know she was looking through her hands though, because once off the ride, she was telling me about the dinosaurs she had seen while on the ride.

We found DH at the smoking area, and he took her to ride the flying dinosaurs, while I waited. It was just about time for Finding Nemo: The Musical and this was one of the shows on our list of things we have never done. We arrived just as they were letting people in the theater. It was a very cute show. We all enjoyed it and would definitely go back again to see it again on another trip.

At this time, it was late afternoon, and we had to make our way over to Cape May Clambake for an ADR at 5:00. We decided that we needed to make our way to the front of the park, taking a small smoke break, more for relaxation than anything. We stopped at the smoking area at the front of the park, next to Rainforest Café. One of my favorite smoking areas in all of WDW, the waterfall, the big tree frog statue, the SHADE, I mean what’s not to like? After a brief rest, some water, and a photo op for me and DD, we made our way to the Beach Club bus stop.

One of my favorite pics of me and DD, it's my FB pic right now.

We didn’t get a whole lot done that day. By the time we finished eating and with the heat, we were on slow mo, there just wasn’t all that much time. But we had agreed that we had another day to finish, so we were happy.

Up Next: Cape May Clambake and Epcot….would Cape May Clambake live up to a Cape Codder’s clambake expectations?

Thanks Marnie. It was a nice day, very hot, but just a leisurely day.

Too bad it was so hot. Yes, I agree thatAK can tend to be on the hotter side, and that's only because there aren't a lot of indoor activities to enjoy like the other parks.

This year was the hottest year we have been. For the next trip we are talking end of Sept., beginning of October. It is usually some degrees cooler then. Just a few would be good for me...maybe 10.
I am nervous about FFP weather. I hate the idea of having to wear sweatshirts, coats, hats, mittens...the only good thing I think is being able to wear jeans/pants. The whole idea of having no idea what the weather will be like, kind of scares me. However, I am looking forward to the xmas decorations and lights and what not! But there is one thing that tops all the other things that makes FFP good...do you know what it is?

For real, it would be you with the heat or Ashli with the cold. I'm doomed.

I think anywhere from 70-85 is okay, but 85 is about my limit. Last year it was 80-85 everyday and the year before it was 85-90 with a couple days that were 92. This time though it was 90-95 the entire time. Let me tell you, the one day it was closer to 90 we were so happy, yet it was still sweltering. I don't like when I feel like I need 2 pairs of undergarments a day, bc I can literally wring out the first set by afternoon. Not fun. I am scared of winter weather though too, so what can you do?

I agree with you it probably is the fact of indoor activities. It just always seems hotter there than anywhere, IMO anyhow.

You sound like me. If it would just stay between 75-80 with low humidity the entire time I'm there it would be perfect, but I also say that about living here in Maryland and it never happens.
