Three Adults & a Toddler – 6/7-13/09 - UPDATED 11/20 - Page 38 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Oh, poor little guy. He just had to much fun earlier in the day. I know how it is to have to give in to the little one.
Don't feel bad. Last trip I bought kids Tinkerbell sunglasses and I loved them. Still have them too! I didn't like any of the adult sunglasses and I am tiny, so they kids fit better any way.
Glad I'm not the only one with kid sunglasses!

I know! Just unbelievable! I don't think I've ever seen the packaged ones in parks either, but I've never had to look for them until now either. Very true - no time was wasted - we enjoyed our club level status though!!

Thanks! I think it was good for all of us to have a rest - just too bad it was so early in the trip.

That was a really nice treat that was left in your room! It really makes it extra special when they do stuff like that. I love the uncrustables story*L* that's something my DBF would say too I love the conceirge perks...so nice to have little snacks and drinks out there.
I wouldve so bought me some hannah montana sunglasses too dont worry but WOW what a pain in the ya know what with that gift card thing!
Too bad he was too worn out for another go around but it sounded nice to relax and kick back like you guys did.
Cant wait to hear more of your trip!
Poor little Dylan, it was just too much for him. Love the gifts they left in the room. Glad you were able to find sunglasses that fit. I always either break or lose my sunglasses at Disney. I think it's a curse. I may just have to get kids ones next time. More please.
Love your surprises! Hey, and if the kid's sunglasses work for you, go for it. Poor Dylan - at least you know his limits and chose a relaxing evening in - besides, you got more hot chocolate and kahlua !

Thank you! I liked looking at them too. We learned a tidbit about the one whose head was always tilted - but you'll have to wait until I get there in the TR.

The gifts were an pleasant surprise! I'm spolied by concierge now. I'm going to try for it again in a few weeks for our August trip.

Kids is a good alternative, plus they're cheaper.

Too funny! Glad I've gotten someone with me on those!
Sorry it's been so long in between posts - I guess life and reading everyone else's just got in the way. Another update coming right up!
Mike got up first and got ready so he could then get Dylan ready and take him to eat a little something before heading out. (The rest of us didn’t need to eat as we were heading to CRT for Becki’s Birthday Celebration Breakfast.) I wanted to get to MK early today, but that didn’t happen. [It actually never happened the entire trip.] MK had AM EMH today so it was very crowded. We did arrive shortly after 9am and made a quick stop at the Barber Shop to check out the line, but it was too long so we headed to check-in a little early for our 9:40am ADR. We made our way to the back of the castle and checked in, parked the stroller, and headed inside. We were called quickly for our photo op with Cinderella and as we were waiting in line we were called to come to our table. Becki had selected this character breakfast for the trip and I picked today to celebrate her birthday so it was really excited for it. I didn’t have too high of expectations though since I haven’t heard the best reviews of CRT, especially at breakfast. I also thought this would be a good character meal for Dylan as all the Princesses are face characters and therefore wouldn’t be scary. Boy was I wrong!!
After having our picture taken with Cinderella, we headed upstairs to our table. The person that ‘sat’ us was the most unpleasant CM. I think she missed her morning coffee and does of pixie dust. She just said “you’re sitting there” and pointed to the table. OKAY! So we sat and got situated. Our server came, Scott, and he couldn’t have been more opposite than the lady who sat us. Scott was a great CM! He got our drinks and then brought out a plate full of muffins and pastries. We all decided on the non-health food breakfast, which was French toast with blueberry sauce, eggs, potatoes, bacon & sausage. Scott brought out a couple French toast sticks for Dylan.
Becki had gotten a magic wand as it was her birthday and Dylan got a sword (even though he is under 3). I let Becki have the ‘wishing star’ and she made he wish when they did the ceremony for this. I hadn’t read too much about the ‘wishing’ ceremony so I’m not going to post about it either as to not ruin the fun for anyone else, but I must say it was neat.
Becki making her wish!
Soon the princesses were out and Dylan didn’t care for them too much either. They did seem quite rushed and really only posed with him for a picture and moved on. I did ask Belle if she could pose with Becki as Belle is her favorite Princess and it was her birthday celebration after all. She was ever gracious and posed with Becki.
I don't know if it's just me, but this Ariel was a bit scary.
We had seen another table get a cupcake with candle and the servers singing to a little girl and Becki was like “that better not happen to me”. I was like uh-oh! I had ordered the dark chocolate slipper for this meal and I wasn’t sure if they would just sing or not. Scott came out soon with the slipper, lit the candle, and then…..he asked Becki if he should sing or not. She said no and he was a little relived too. Becki blew out the candle and we all dug in. OMG! This is an amazing dessert! Dark chocolate slipper (not hollow by the way) with chocolate mousse on a sponge cake surrounded by fresh strawberries and blueberries in a raspberry sauce. YUM!!!
Since you had to pre-pay for this meal I just had to pay for the chocolate slipper which was $15.57 including an 18% gratuity (already on the bill) and tax. CRT ended up being than I expected and most of that was because of our server Scott. I must write to Disney about him. I would probably visit again, but it will probably be a while – maybe one day if I have a little girl.
CRT for breakfast is actually a fav of mine I'm so glad you enjoyed it! I love the stuffed french toast. Its my absolute fave disney food! That glass slipper looked amazing and completely worth the splurge for a bday. It looks like Becki had a great bday breakfast!
For the most part, your CRT breakfast sounds pretty good. The slipper looks AMAZING! So sorry about the CM that seated you - sounds like she needed to be dipped in pixie dust (over and over). Poor Dylan - some of those princesses can be so scary (wanted to give kisses and all).
Glad CRT turned out better than you expected. And so glad that the server who you had to see for the whole meal was much better than the hostess who thank goodness, you only had to see for a minute or so. Great way to celebrate a birthday! And OMG that slipper looks fabulous!!
