As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). There is a lot to do in Vegas and not just in the city itself, but outside - Hoover Dam, Red Rock Canyon, Grand Canyon and Death Valley are the obvious ones. Depending if you're interested in national parks, there are so many more in the area you can do if you do a road trip.
Thanks for the ideas. Hoover Dam is definitely on my list and about an hour away. Grand Canyon is four hours away and was there back in 1998. A lot to choose from and will be researching a lot. We will have at least six of us and will depend what everyone wants to do. I may extend my stay here as I'm on vacation the whole week. The portion with my friends is just three nights.

On our one trip to US/IOA, we ate at Mythos and loved our meals. In fact, I had one of the best tomato soups I have ever had there. Loads of fun so far this day.
A good review is helpful and may try for lunch when I return to IOA.

What a shame about the stunt show - we've never been able to see it either. The trolley ride was a lot of fun and we really enjoyed it.
I was hoping to catch the stunt show and I guess that means on the return! The trolley ride is short but relaxing and in some ways reminds me of TL's Peoplemover.

I like the rides in Suess Land especially the carousel, great start to your day.
I decided to skip the carousel as I wanted to experience other things later in IOA I was more interested in.

Looks like a great start to your day. Seuss Landing looks really neat.
It's a fun area of the park, even though primarily for the very young ones! But, I did enjoy it.

That is true! It's been since 1999 since I was there, so certainly time to go back. The train ride was fun.

Um - by all means go and see the stunt show, but have fairly low expectations of it - it's not Disney! We saw it a few years ago, thought it was awful, then went back again a couple of years later as we thought it can't possibly be as bad as we remembered. It was. We just found it to be unexciting, boring, over-long, and rambling. I'm sure some folk love it, and please go see it in order to form your own opinion though.
Us? We wouldn't go again if someone paid us ......

A Return to My Universal Favorite and Why I’ll Be Back!
Saturday, October 7th (Part II) After Seuss Landing and Lost Continent with a few attractions I arrived in the the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. I enjoyed this section of the park so much with my first ever experience just three days ago! It’s just so well done in every aspect and can’t get enough of it with my third time here on this trip! It’s a return to my Universal favorite and why I'll be back!
Before going on the attractions, I just explored the area for a while and experienced this amazing part of Universal Studios. Just so much to see, even without the attractions.
I love these snowcapped roofs!
I thought about having one of these again, but I had ideas for lunch in about an hour or so and these tend to fill you up a bit. But they are just so good!
My first attraction in Harry Potter today.
Even having the Universal Express Pass today, (included with my stay at the Royal Pacific) there was a longer wait for this attraction than in my previous days. Then again, it’s a Saturday and much more crowded today! I think I waited about ten minutes. It’s a fun attraction and a bit like The Barnstormer in WDW’s Fantasyland, but a bit better. Although, not a great coaster as the entire ride is under a minute but enjoyable.
Now, back to ride Harry Potter’s Forbidden Journey and the reason why I’m returning today to this part of the park. One of the best simulator rides I’ve ever been on and the best in Universal. But,The Simpson’s Ride and Spiderman are two great ones as well in USF! There would be one in WDW later in my trip that has the chance of topping my experience for this one. I don’t think you need to put much thought into it!
I used my Universal Express Pass and it saves me some time in line in general, but it was still over a twenty minute wait. They should make the Express Pass wait much less as probably the only attraction in USF with long wait times for the Express Pass. The entry position is not at a good point!
The biggest problem with this attraction (as I said on my first experience a few days ago) are the lockers here and trying to find one that is vacant and not exactly easy in any way! Plus, there are so many people vying for one to store their belongings. They need to rectify the situation as it’s so crowded in here and very little space to move about! Not for the claustrophobic!
Once, I got on the ride it was amazing and so enjoyable as in my previous experiences. It just feels you have been swept into the world of Harry Potter and flying alongside Harry and Ron on your own broomstick and experiencing an amazing adventure in this land! It lasts several minutes and is so much fun with all the twists and turns. It’s quite realistic. I think this was my fourth time on this attraction and for good reason!
Until a few years ago, I had never seen any of the Harry Potter movies. One of the cable channels had a marathon of these on a Thanksgiving or Christmas weekend. I enjoyed these films so much and they began these from the first one in the series. I believe I watched about five of them. Certainly, to the point when Daniel Ratcliffe and Rupert Grint (Harry and Ron) were in their 20’s realistically by then. I can’t believe these two guys are about 30 now! Where does the time go as I can remember when the first HP movie came out and they were so young and not even in their teens?
Once, I exited the attraction, I made my way out of the queue to the lockers and retrieved my belongings by navigating the insanely dense packed crowds in this area! I was getting a bit hungry at this point and began to walk in the direction of City Walk for lunch. First, I got a few more photos of the WWoHP.
It took quite a bit of navigating through the crowds as much of the park was quite busy now. It was probably around 2:30 pm at this point. It was basically from Harry Potter all the way to the Islands of Adventure exit, which is a good walk.
At times the crowds thinned out a bit in the center. As expected the areas around the Jurassic Park and Kong Skull Island attractions were quite crowded. In about ten minutes or so I arrived in the Marvel Super Heroes Island section. This is another popular area of the park and very crowded as expected. I got a few photos before exiting IOA.

Leaving Islands of Adventure, but I’d be back after lunch!
