PTR: The Dunning Family's Triumphant Return to the World - Page 37 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Sounds encouraging for David and let's hope he gets a job out of one of these interviews!

My TR from my most recent trip is now underway. Includes: Universal Studios Florida, Disney World and Sea World Orlando Trifecta TR -Updated December 10th! TR is now COMPLETED!
David received an email from both employers yesterday telling him to expect a phone call in the next day or so to schedule a face-to-face interview. Yay!!
How wonderful it would be to be able to celebrate a new job on this trip!!
[looking at everyone's replies, those little pixies are really working overtime!! Ha ha! Well here's hoping....]

Congrats to David, and continued for the face-to-face interviews!! My son works for Xfinity (Comcast) and has for years. He's had great growth with the company...
packages for trips are doubly fun to receive!!! I'm two weeks out from my trip and bouncing in my seat, so know you are too!
I cannot believe the trips are sneaking up so quickly...and the time is dragging by so slowly at the same time. Such is the nature of waiting to go Home to our happy place!

I have a few pairs of Brooks that I totally love. You all are getting so close to Disney Time!
Yeeees! I am so excited. So is Briana. She loves tearing off another paper ring every night before she goes to bed. I'm not sure she completely understands the concept of the countdown, but she's having fun with it anyway, so whatever.

Your reply made me laugh. Us coffee drinkers understand one another! I've cut WAAAAY back since I was breastfeeding and then pregnant again. Sometimes my one cup of coffee a day doesn't feel like enough. I can't wait until I can up it to two cups after I have Ella. Haha! When I'm not breastfeeding or pregnant, I drink entirely too much caffeine every day.
We are now 13 days out from our trip, and I feel as if I've hit the planning/packing wall. I feel like it's too early to do serious packing, because everything will get wrinkled and smell like new suitcase, haha. I've gotten everything purchased or ordered except mosquito repellent. (We are STILL waiting on some things we ordered a couple of weeks ago! Gah! So frustrating!)
I am going to get a letter from my midwives on Wednesday stating that I am safe to fly. I doubt I'll need it, but they recommended getting one just in case. The midwife I spoke to, Jane, said "Do NOT ask them if you need to show them a letter, don't ask permission. Just have it handy in case they give you trouble. We've had ladies go through struggles with overzealous airline staff who think they know better than we do." Yikes. I'm glad I didn't have problems when I traveled back in 2012 when I was pregnant with Briana...I didn't have a letter from my then OB!
Briana ripped her Elsa costume (which she was quickly growing out of anyway) and unfortunately vomited all over her light-up, non-washable, deluxe Cinderella costume a couple of weeks ago when she was feeling under the weather. I have two gift cards to the Disney store (other than the ones meant for our trip) and I had wanted to replace those two dresses for her before we left...but the website got really frustrating. It would only take ONE gift card at a time unless we called, but when I called they were already closed, and the hours they're open tomorrow (well, later today - Sunday) won't allow me to call because we are visiting my dad. SO...I can either order them Monday and hope they arrive before our trip, or I can save our gift cards and either replace the dresses in the parks or once we get home. Bri certainly has enough other Disney outfits to wear on the trip, so I'm thinking I'll just wait.
This way she can choose whatever dress she wants at the Bippety Boppity Boutique on our first day at the parks. Knowing my girl, she'll either want Cinderella, Elsa, or Rapunzel. So replacing the dresses now may not have been the best idea anyway.
My tank tops have arrived, and the luggage covers. We are still waiting on Briana's swimsuit and David's sandals. I'm kind of feeling frustrated, because everything was supposed to arrive by the 9th, but it's not here yet. Rawr!
Anyway, that's all for now. I can't believe we are only 13 days out! My friend Automne and her family arrived today and will be leaving next Sunday. We didn't realize we were both planning trips for September or we would have coordinated better. She said she was looking at the dates we chose, too! So, major bummer that we're missing each other, since she moved to Vegas a few years back and we rarely see each other anymore. Ah, well. Some day.
Anyway, it's 2:25AM and my insomnia is finally going away enough that I think I can go to bed. I'm sure I'll have more updates in the next few days!
Not long now! I think having Bri choose her dress at BBB will add to her experience.
For future reference, you can combine your gift cards onto one card on the Disney gift card website. I had to do that a couple of months ago during one of their online sales. It was easy to combine them.

WDW is giving out free mosquito repellant if that will help you all. I thinking waiting to get new dresses at the parks is a great idea. I was just thinking about packing for our trip this morning, but reminded myself that at 18 days until the trip, it's just too early. I don't have room to keep the suitcases out without interfering with daily life between now and then. But I'm ready to start!
I am with Cam Getting her the dress at BBB is a great idea I couldn't help but wonder how neat it would be if her FGMIT would just happen to say how much she looks a young ( insert name of her favorite princess here) as she is choosing it
