Taggin' Along Compliments of Disney! - Page 37 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

OMG, what a first day you are having. Sorry I too would have been on edge with that Flight attendant, but so happy for you you had a nice one help you in MCO and you were reunited with your stroller. So wonderful to hear you had a nice CM check you in. Sorry to hear your room wasn't fully ready yet and te carpets were entirely soaked, but at leastyou could put your luggage in your room and change. More please Melissa.
So glad to hear the stroller made it Melissa! Thanks goodness! And yes, after 8 1/2 hours later SWA did locate my suitcase. I went back to the airport to get it and got a travel voucher for the inconvenience.
Melissa, all your pictures of BC and your room have me so excited as it's only 30 days until I'll be back there. We won't be in the villas this time, but that's okay. Can't wait to hear about your pool time!
What room category was that agin? Villa, studio?? I can't remember what you said. Thinking of either GF again or BC for our next visit. It will be hard for me to give up the monorail though. Do you think it's a good amount of space for 2 adults and 2 little ones??
OMG, really with the questions...........so sorry.
So glad that the stroller made it to Florida!! Sorry that it was taking so long for your room to be ready, but at least you were able to get into the room and get changed so you could get some lunch.
So am I! If that stroller hadn't made it I would have had to rent one and I did not want to do that.

That's exactly what I said. Someone is going to get me a stroller if they can't find mine. Thank goodness it didn't come to that...not a good way to start your vacation.

Glad you were able to get changed and get on with your vacation. I'm sure that pool was just calling your name. It would've for me.
they were THAT wet. I honestly couldn't believe it because they didn't seem that bad until I went for a ride in the bathroom. After that I took off my shoes and you could just feel the moisture every time you took a step. I kept Hope on the bed the whole time.

I don't think the front desk was aware of it at the time, but they did say that they pick a certain number of rooms each day to clean the carpets and ours happened to be that day...go figure.

Thanks so much. You're going to love it there! I can't say enough about this resort. I would go back again in a second.

Yes, we did have a full balcony, and at first when I saw the view I was a little unhappy because we had the road directly behind us and I've read that you get a lot of noise from it. We never heard a thing, and the best part was I could see the fireworks from Illuminations even though we were on the second floor. I wasn't expecting that at all...so much so that I didn't take any pictures.

Glad to know that they do clean the carpets every once in a while, sorry you had to wait longer though.
It's funny because I knew my feet were the first to walk on those clean carpets so I didn't feel funny walking around without my socks on.

We definitely had a very nice room, it was just a very long walk to get to it.

You have a pretty nice view from your room.
Hope is just too cute!
I wasn't sure if those fans were going to be in the room when we got back or not, but they got them in and out really quickly. I guess it needs to be sometime right?

Great start to the TR too! You were very patient with miss pissy pants, not sure how I would have done especially having gotten up at 3:30! Glad the stroller showed up, and Hope is just adorable!! Glad she rested for you on the plane.
Looking forward to more.
Thank you very much. Having my Nanny pass was a little harder for me than I thought it would be, but yes, I do have that very special gift to take with me.
I was actually very proud of myself for not going off the handle right away, and I'm glad I didn't because the stroller was recovered. My mom and I always have at least on mishap happen while we're away, and we laugh about it after the fact.

Can you say Lily Tomlin? (or am I dating myself with all you youngsters?)
After you said that I immediately laughed because you're right, it definitely reminds me of Lily Tomlin! I used to watch the reruns of Laugh In on Nick at Night when I was little.

You're going again??? Ugh...I'm so jealous! You'll get to stay in those beautifully decorated rooms that us DVC members never get to stay on with our points.

Yeah, big red...I mean can you really miss that big red bag staring you in the face???
Anyway, ask as many questions as you'd like. We stayed in a studio, which was nice for the three of us. I think adding a fourth may be a little tight only because there aren't 2 double beds. It's 1 double bed and a sleeper sofa, so if both of your children will be sharing a bed than that's fine, but if your son will still be sleeping in a pack-n-play, there would be no room to move around. I think you'd be better with a 1-bedroom. Still only 1 bed and a sleeper sofa, but a lot more room to manuever.
Even though we didn't have the monorail, which we originally were going to have if we would have stayed at BLT, we were happy with our resort. It was just a really nice place and this would be at the top of my list for the next visit.
Sometimes I wonder what the airline does with luggage, the first time we flew with the stroller and car seat, we checked the car seat in a bag and did gate check with the stroller (no bag). Well the stroller came back to us with the wheel lock busted off one of the front wheels and then the car seat came out at the luggage belt with the bag zipper broke and wide open! I never complained about it then, but geesh, baby gear isn't cheap! Just thought I would throw that out there. If I happen to get the baby jogger I want before our next trip, I am seriously thinking of getting the bag for it to use at gate check. BC sounds so nice, we have it booked for April if all goes well and we can make it back 4 months after the upcoming trip!
Linny, just a side note, if you start booking 1 bedroom villas, you should think about looking into dvc, especially with your growing family and if your son ends up being as tall as your hubs, you will need the extra space!!!

I cannot believe that about the lady at Mcdonalds! I wouldve come over the counter to get my yogurt LOL

Baby gear definitely is not cheap and that's why flying with my stroller always makes me a little nervous. You never know what condition it will be in when you get it back. That being said, the stroller bag doesn't offer that much protection. It pretty much will prevent it from being scratched and marked up, but if they throw it around enough, it would probably still break. After flying twice with the stroller that bag has pretty much seen it's last days, so I will have to buy a new one...I think they're like $10 at Babies R Us.
And Linny, I definitely agree about buying into the DVC if you want to start utilizing the 1 & 2 bedroom villas. It's so worth the investment if you ask me.

Awesome shots of the resort!
All I would have needed was to be hauled off by the air marshall...what a fabulous way to start a trip!

Your daughter is so adorable! More stories, please!
You're funny! Even though I am of a somewhat younger generations I still enjoy the classic sitcoms. My mom said I was always born a little too late for my taste in entertainment (musicals, old movies, etc). You don't know how excited I got last week when I noticed Laverne & Shirley was in re-runs on this new channel we got here. I was doing the happy dance in my living room and now it's set to tape each episode on my DVR!

Thank you for your condolences. Each day is getting a little better, but when a thought of her pops into my head I just have to take a moment and pause to get through it.
The theme of the beginning of our trip was definitely "irritated employees", but that all changed once we got to the BC. That resort is definitely worth a stay if you've never been, and now I can't decide if I still want to stay at my favorite resort, AKL on our next trip or return to the BCV, my new favorite resort...decisions decisions.

Hi! And thanks for joining in! Yes, the room was very very nice.
So glad you got your stroller back - and in one piece Melissa. It does make me wonder, At first when your room wans't ready I thought they were just giving you som BS about it being cleaned. Then when they were doing the carpets - I'm thinking - What on earth happened in there before you? Hopefully it was all clean and dry when you came back from the pool. - more please
Great update!!! Glad you found the stroller...love the lines you sound like me on our trip...which I know I have to start writing but we had some issues and I'd rather not rethink of them right now...if you know what I mean.
We had the same issue at check-in with names they asked me if dave was in my party...I'm like "Noooo" and then they finally found me...let me tell you for a moment I was nervous and I did online check-in too...very wierd...
Can't wait to hear more!
