As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I did hear Sharon rustling around a little bit early that Saturday morning, but after the big mosey challenge and our late night I couldn’t make myself get out of bed. Eventually everyone else started moving . . . ever . . . so . . .slowly. I made my mandatory pot of coffee and then discovered that Sharon had purchased us some butter and cream cheese before she had left that morning to go with our NY bagels.
Karen, Eileen, Heather and I sat around the table eating breakfast (Eileen ate her leftovers from CG instead of the Death by Gluten bagels ), drinking coffee and chatting nonstop. Before we knew it, most of the morning had gotten away from us. It was probably about 11 a.m. or so before we got moving and out the door.
Our plans for the day were to do a little Epcot resort touring followed by a lunch at B&C and then on to Epcot. We had planned to catch the AK bus and then transfer to the Boardwalk bus, but after waiting a few minutes at the bus stop, we decided to take a taxi directly to the Boardwalk. We were pulling up to the front of the Boardwalk in no time! I think that the taxi cost no more than $15 with tip and it was worth every cent.
Sharon had already gone to DHS and her D23 shindig at Epcot, but she was either already at the Boardwalk when we arrived or there shortly thereafter. We strolled around looking at the lobby decorations and I fell in love with the huge strands of garland adorned with ornaments.
A few of us were relaxing on the circular sofa that sits just inside the lobby when the miniature carousel that is displayed above it began playing music and going around and around. None of us had ever seen that happen before nor did we even realize that it would work. Wonders never cease!
Next we hopped the boat over to the YC to check out the train and then made our way over to the BC for the carousel. Recognize these three - - don’t they look all invigorated after a good night of sleep?
Eileen had been in contact with the Tiaras (minus Louise), Bob and Larry and Lesley and Tom, so we were soon moving outside to grab a table or two at B&C. Karen, Heather and I made a pit stop at Hurricane Hanna’s for margaritas and nearly had to take down a man for jumping ahead of us in line. We didn’t say a word but we managed to get our point across with a triple dose of stink eye. The important thing was that we each came away with yummy drinks. We took the scenic route back through SAB and finally managed to find the opening back to the B&C porch. We had a bit of a wait, but it never seems that long when the conversation is going a mile a minute.
When our pager finally buzzed, we were split into two tables. I was at the table with Heather, Bob, Lesley and Tom and we had a blast sharing food and continuing the chatter.
My main goal was to dig into a No Way Jose, but I decided to coat my stomach with a nice layer of grease first and have an order of onion rings. Very good decision on my part because they were delicious!
When my No Way Jose arrived, I was a bit disappointed to see it in a banana split dish instead of a big ole sundae dish. It was still good, but the presentation was just not the same - - plus the big ole sundae dish allows for you to find big globs of peanut butter. I did make sure to order mine with only vanilla ice cream this time which I really liked better. Although not a big dessert eater, Heather did help me out a little bit with it. You can actually see her hand in the upper left corner of this picture -- looks like she's moving in for the kill, doesn't it?
Of course, when the other table received their desserts, I did have to glance over a couple of times just to make sure that the ladies weren’t harassing Larry (too much). He seemed no worse for the wear, so either (a) they took it easy on him or (b) he enjoyed it.
When we could eat no more, Karen coordinated the paying of the bill for us (we had it all put on one bill so that we could use someone’s TIW card) and then we all headed out in opposite directions. I love how we just sort of end up at B&C each year and eat and laugh until we almost pop. It’s like a little family reunion of sorts - - but the good kind where you actually like your relatives.

That was a lovely slow morning -- even if the overacheiving Sharon got up EARLY for her D23 event. (Weirdo!)
We just noshed and got ourselves caffeinated before we primped and dressed. This was when Karen made the pronouncement that she was glad she'd done the challenge, but that she never needed to do it again.
Yeah... riiiiiiight. The girl is already planning on doing it again, this time with Mary Devall.
The decorations at the resorts were lovely and made everything festive -- and the copious amounts of gingerbread made the lobbies smell DEEEEElicious!
Our wait for Beaches and Cream was 90 minutes, if I'm remembering correctly, but Lesley and Tom were absolutely wonderful and got me a big coffee to sip while we waited and chatted. It really is the most relaxing thing to just sit there... and I was glad Karen was all tired out from the previous day and was able to just *chill.* (Normally, she'd be itchin' to go after about 30 minutes of this nonsense.) The Tiaras supplied me with much-needed handcream... so greased up and caffeinated, chatting with friends... well, it was just a little piece of heaven for me.
Once we were finally seated in the restaurant, I was sad we were split up, but my dining companions were fun and the food was great. I agree though... the No Way Jose just didn't have the normal panache in the banana split dish. It just sort of sloshed everywhere and I couldn't really get my fill of the peanut butter. (BTW, I didn't order aaaaaaaany food at all -- just the NWJ!)
Then we headed off to Epcot to see Romeo and Edna.... and what ho, who is that in the show?!

Love the updates, girls! I enjoy touring as much as the next Disneyholic, but I treasure those leisurely mornings when the magic is in the calm rather than the craziness... and it sounds like you had one of those gems! How wonderful to take in all the decorations and then relax over lunch with the peeps. Very cool! Would you believe I've been to Disney about 15 times and have never eaten at B&C??? I'm going to have to fix that next time around, though I'm not sure I could convince my family to wait 90 minutes... even at the prospect of a NWJ! (It sure looks yummy... inferior dish and all!)
Hi everyone! I'm back from Vegas! and I'm really tired, but can't seem to sleep. The weekend in New Orleans was CRAZY busy! Geaux Saints . . . the Superbowl . . .WOW!! Then after working all night until about 2am--we had a 7am flight to Vegas! But I'm home now and will continue to chime in wherever its necessary!
This was my first evah trip to Beaches and Cream. I ordered a burger and it was . . . kind of just a burger, but I certainly helped myself to Jill's No Way Jose and Bob's Brownie Sundae! Both of those were VERY yummy and I'll be sure to go back for ice cream! I really enjoyed sitting around with my margarita while waiting for our table--its great to catch up with everyone!
