Our Magical New York Wedding-- a Pixie Dusted Wedding and Honeymoon Report! - Page 37 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Since its after midnight I am officially down to six days!!!! Woot woot!!! And without any further adeiu... here is my PG13 Bachelorette update:
Let me preface this by saying that I have known my best friends since elementary school. We don't always live close by but we get together whenever we can, and love excuses like big life events. For my Coney Island Pre-Wedding Celebration 2 of my 3 besties were able to meet up (the thirs lives in North Carolina). Me and my friend Kelly took the Metro North from where we live (about 90 minutes) and met our friend Emily, who lives in the city, near Bryant Park. We took the Subway all the way out to Coney Island... lucky for us in the morning it was running express!
Upon getting on the train Emily provided some refreshments () and we made our way allllllll the way out to Coney Island!
Upon arrival I was graced by Kelly with a "Bachelorette" crown and by Emily with a homemade sash that was made to look like a girl scount (juniors) vest... complete with fake merit badges that represented: adopting liam, loving disney, going out of the country for the first time, losing all that wieght, and getting married!
Oh and here's a cute pic I took from the bench I was sitting at... random but I like it!
Idunno why but I thought the garbage cans were really cool! Since it was my day, after purchasing a gynormous pina coloda, we headed towards the most awesomest wooden coaster there is-- The Cyclone!
On our way we stopped to peak at the "Worlds Largest Rat" which was really this big African Guinea pig... and we took a few cute pics of the surroundings...
By the time we actually reached the Coaster, we had convienently finished our Colada and took our ride on the Cyclone! It was SOOOO awesome! And I love coasters-- and love wooden ones! I would say this rivals my fav (Playlands Dragon Coaster)! Here is our ride pic that I (of course) had to buy!
After that we headed over to referall are Pina and walked around a bit more. We stopped to play some games and take pics in one of those cute photobooths. After we had finished our drinks we decided it would be a good time for some lunch! Where do you go at Coney Island? the ORIGINAL Nathans of course! And the Chili Cheese Dogs were delish (for anyone close to my age who ever watched the old Sonic the Hedgehog cartoon-- Sonic and Tails would have been uber jealous of my chili cheese dog!)
After we were well nourished we headed to explore the rest of the park, with the destination to be the Wonder Wheel! I got this funny pick of Em and Kel (on the left and right respectively) after playing a Scarface themed shooting game...
I was totally pysched when we made it to the Wonder Wheel. This is the coolest ferris wheel every because a bunch of the carts swing! We obvi chose a swinging cart and got some of the best pics of the day! This is where Em took my new sig pic, BTW!
There are many more pics on FB, I didnt want to bore those of you who have seen them! Feel free to check them out or friend me and then check em out!
After the Wonder Wheel, we were getting very sunkissed after having walked the boardwalk now for hours. We decided to cool off by checking out the Coney Island Freak Show and the Museum.
I am not sure what I thought of the Freak Show. It made me sad a little, that people feel like they have to showcase themselves in such a way. I mean the Seal Boy, for example, who was awesome and insisted on taking a pic with the Bachelorette, told us he was a victim of his mother taking Thalidomide. It made me feel bad and wonder if he had been ridiculed as a child. Ya know? Like how does one end up in a Freak Show? All in all it was a wonderful performance and a lot of the people were actually magicians or skilled with things like fire eating, sword swallowing, etc. They were wonderfully charming and entertaining and we actually all gave extra donations on our way out.
The museum was also amazing and made me see why people want to work Coney Island so bad. They had great displays of old artwork, fun house mirrors, and even ride vehicles.
I figured I would leave you last with a pic of me and Kel with the Mermaid Parade float... cause its both cute and funny! lol!
After the museum, we made our way back to the D train, stopping first for some Funnel Cake and Candy Apples! YUM!
We parted ways at different stops on the subway and Kelly and I got into Grand Central JUST in time to hop on our train (which was delayed anyways). It was really beautiful walking passed Bryant Park at dusk, the lights were strung and their were tables all set up. I wish I had taken a pic.
By the time we got on the train we were exhausted! We talked more about the wedding, and I tucked my crown and sash into my bookbag.

Glad you had a great time. Pina colada are my favorite. I can't believe that you only have six days to go. I hope the weather is beautiful for you. I hope there is atleast one more update before the big day.
You can't beat a Pina Colada on the boardwalk in the summer with some best friends!! What a great bachelorette day! I'm thinkin' I've got to get me to Coney Island sometime soon. That looks fun. And the "original" Nathans...how can I resist that?? Love the sash, what a sweet idea and so thoughtful and personal. Great friends you've got.
Thanks so much! I am getting hitched and heading to the Bahamas in less than a week-- any chance your wedding PTR will be updated just one more time by then!?
