DREAMing of a Disney spring break COMPLETED - Page 36 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Your CC day sounded great. Love that you got some time at Serenity Bay and then got to ride the Aquaduck. Now I'm wondering if perhaps you should've done Palo first.
You're probably right. To be honest, I wasn't expecting to find availability for Palo and Remy so easily, so I wasn't thinking straight when I booked it (plus I'd just got up, as bookings opened at 5am our time! )

Saturday 16 April – part six: how will Palo rank after Remy?
Then we headed off to deck 12 for our dinner at Palo. As we had been promised, we had a lovely table by the water, so we could watch the sunset and then the lights of Freeport. I went up to deck 13 to get some better shots of those during our meal.
Our server, Cecilia...
.... who was wonderful and couldn’t do enough for us, explained that the courses used to stop at Freeport, but as the beach is about half an hour away from the dock, people just weren’t getting off the boat, so that’s why they changed it to a day at sea.
The ambience of Palo was very nice and fortunately the basketball court above us wasn’t as noticeable as it had been on our previous night in Remy. It was a bit cold in there, but whether that was just our table and perhaps we were sat under the air conditioning. I’m not quite sure.
Now the food.... we went for the ai gamberi pizza with tomato sauce, mozzarella, shrimp and asparagus, as we remembered how good that was and this didn’t disappoint. It was excellent.
Sadly the same couldn’t be said of our appetiser. We went for the Fritto di Calamari, lightly crusted calamari, served with deep fried cherry peppers, and the mozzarella and plum tomatoes with balsamic vinegar. We went for both dishes, as we remembered those as being very good. Well, to be honest, neither came up to our expectations, which was a shame. The calamari was overcooked and the mozzarella didn’t have that much taste to it, which was a great shame.
We also got the Sicilian pesto marinated grilled shrimp, which was probably the best out of the three.
Fortunately, things picked up for entrees. I went for the lobster and mascarpone ravioli and I was relieved to see that it was a nice small portion, as I was starting to feel a bit stuffed after everything else I’d already eaten so far.
Mark had the oregano and parmesan crusted rack of lamb and my goodness, it was huge. Sadly, it was a bit fatty, according to Mark, which was not great.
However, things did pick up with the dessert. I went for the chocolate soufflé with vanilla bean and chocolate sauce in the hope that it would be as good as before and thank goodness, it was. I like the way that you can now pour the vanilla bean and chocolate sauce yourself, that’s a nice change.
I have to be honest here. I have no idea what Mark had. I’ve got the photo of what he had and we cannot match it to anything that was on the menu, so it will have to remain a mystery...
The desserts were a great end to the meal, even if some of the earlier parts didn’t up to our expectations.
Despite that, I wouldn’t let it put me off trying Palo again in the future, as it has always delivered in the past and I’m sure that it will again as well. Let’s hope so, as we’re booked in for dinner on our upcoming Alaskan cruise.
When we got out of there, it was probably about 9.40pm, which was an earlier finish than last night. We wandered back to our room via the Skyline Lounge.
It still left us plenty of time to get our cases outside before the original 10.30pm deadline and then it was off to bed. We would have an early start in the morning.
The weather today was hot and sunny with temperatures in the 80s. The best thing today was going on the Aquaduck. The worst thing today was how hot it was.
[b]The funniest thing today was Ciaran heading to the Oceaneer Club. Today we tried the Aquaduck And the result was we loved it. The most magical moment today was seeing Snow White with no wait.
I'm sorry dinner didn't quite live up to your expectations, but it still sounds like you did enjoy it.
I can't believe the Dream portion is almost at an end! This has been such an amazing trip overall! I've lost count of what day of your vacation this is!

Sorry to hear that Palo on the Dream didn't measure up to Palo on the older ships. No reason for that, since the menus are pretty much the same , other than the kitchen just not being managed as well. I hope they make some changes.

So have I! Having done a count of it, I think this is day nine!
It's a shame that your Palo meal wasn't as good as you thought it would be. Is the Ravioli dish in the shape of Mickey??? The chocolate dessert looked good though
I did wonder about having Remy prior to Palo.....I need to check to see what order I currenly have them! Remy is on our 2nd sailing, and we have a Palo dinner on both, just not sure of the order.
I would pay the added fee to ONLY eat that chocolate souffle, though! MMMMMMM!
Sorry the cruise is coming to an end - but feeling a bit better knowing we're so close to hearing about your Alaska cruise!

Sorry your meal at Palo didn't live up to your expectations, but I suspect even with that, it was a good meal. I can't believe your cruise is ending already! Good thing there's more TR to come.

Mickey's so happy to see me back, he can barely contain himself!
I've only dined at Palo for afternoon tea and the champagne brunch, and both were outstanding, so I'm sorry to hear some of your dinner didn't live up to expectations. At least it wasn't the whole meal. Can't believe the cruise is almost over.
