A Spring Adventure: Wilderness, Flowers, and the Force (with Cam and Luke) PTR Updated 5/22 - Page 35 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Great arrival day plans. I am a nervous air/airport traveler, I am always worried something will go wrong. I like to be there early too!
Did you get snow/flurries yesterday in your part of the world? My DH is in Nashville visiting his sister and going to an auto auction and texted me video of the snow Nashville was getting. He said it didn't really stick, but was just crazy!!
We did get some snow yesterday. I volunteer on Tuesdays at a clothes closet at our church. So when I got up early to get ready, I checked outside to see quite a bit of snow on the grass, but none sticking to the roads or driveways. Then when I drove to church, the snow was coming down very heavily and limiting visibility. By the time I left church at noon, the sun was shining and all the snow was gone.
You made out great on your shopping trip. I will also do the same as I have gone down three sizes and was able to get thru my last trip with some of my old clothes but it will not cut it in May. I went the other day and got 3 pairs of jean capris so far.

I'm with you I'd rather be at the airport 2 hours early with nothing to do than running in last minute.
It has been awhile since I flew SW and last time Evan was a baby so I did the early check in away. When you buy the EBCI do you still have to check in to the flight at the 24 hour mark? I'm thinking they automatically assign your boarding letter at 36 hours and not at the 24 hour mark so techinally you can check in for you flight at any time during the 24 hrs prior - is that right? They assign the letter so what you are paying for with EBCI is just to remove that stress.

That is the way I understand the EBCI. We usually check in somewhere around the 24 hour mark, but we don't stress over been online at the precise time.
Our first full park day, Tuesday, May 13, will find us back at the Magic Kingdom, and since our first FastPass+ selection is for 9:00 AM at park opening, I think we might make rope drop for the first time in a long time. Luke is thinking he won’t need to sleep in as he has on previous trips because he can do that any day now that he is retired. I’ll be so excited this morning to take a boat to the park. An early morning boat ride is such a cool way to start the day.
Our FastPass+ selections for the day are:
9:00 – 10:00 AM Under the Sea – Journey of the Little Mermaid
10:40 – 11:40 AM Space Mountain
11:50 AM – 12:50 PM Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin
The times we’ve chosen are fairly back to back to back, but we do have a margin of time to attempt other attractions, first in New Fantasyland and then in Tomorrowland. The rest of the day we’ll check times on the My Disney Experience app to determine where to head next. We do have a second day here on the following Monday, so we may skip rides we have FastPass+ selections for on that second day unless the wait is neglible. We definitely want to see the new parade, Festival of Fantasy, so we’ll stake out a spot 30 – 45 minutes before 3:00 PM.
Dinner tonight will be at Tony’s Town Square Restaurant. We’ve always had good experiences here though it often gets mixed reviews online. Even though we like it, we’ve not been here in quite a few years as we just have so many favorites and news one that have knocked it out of the rotation for a while. Luke asked about heading back and it did seem like time, especially as we both like Italian, having it at least once a week at home.
We love Celebrate the Magic, the castle show, and Wishes, so we’ll be viewing them from somewhere around the hub. As of right now the park closes at 11:00 PM, so we may browse through the shops, especially the Emporium and Main Street Jewelers before heading out to let the crowd thin a bit. Then a short boat ride will take us back to our studio at the VWL.
Can I make a suggestion? Most of the rides have almost no line at MK first thing in the morning. I have been advising guests to make their FP+ selections for later in the day when the lines are longer--after 11am! If you decide to keep your early FP+ selections, if you arrive at the ride and the wait time is less than 20 minutes--ride in the standby line and change your FP+ to something else!

We've already planned to change them if we don't need them.

I agree with Heather's advice. I found it was a real waste to use FP+ early. I learned this quickly and changed either on the same day at the kiosks or the night before. Even later in the day, if the ride happens to have a short stand-by time, hop into that line and change your FP for something else.
Love how relaxed your travel day sounds...no early up to rush to the airport and you'll still get time in at a park. I can't wait to hear your review of dinner that night. It's on our list as a potential "date night" now that the boys are all old enough for the kids' club
I checked into the Urban Farm restaraunt in Cleveland and so far their still in the process of hiring staff, but they are backed by an "iron chef". I figured it's probably Michael S. because he is from Cleveland and has several restaurants in the area. He also packed a chef for the Great Food Truck Race.
Day #2 plans are great and I do agree that the MK stays fairly empty with low wait times in the morning. It seems like it didn't really get crazy crowded until closer to lunch time.
