As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Your basement is looking great! Makes me want to work on my house, but I think I'll wait until the kids are older (or put it off forever).
Fun times at DHS and the pool looks like a lot of fun. Especially after all the snow in your pictures. We've still got a bit of snow left here in MN and I can't wait for it to go away. Or for me to head to warmer weather.

Your basement is coming along nicely. Love the "Duffys and Ears" wall. We didn't get anywhere near that much snow, but it was miserable and got me wishing for Spring to hurry up!! Dylan is becoming quite the athlete! Congrats on the baskets and goals!!! Lukas is growing up, Mom! His "Big Boy Bed" looks very comfy. Raspberry Dole Whips... That could be the greatest thing since... since... since the Dole Whip!!!
We will have to try Sci-Fi sometime. We haven't really planned our lunches out... hmmm, Space Invaders Margarita... hmmmm!
You went down the slide! WooHoo!!!
Love this picture of Lukas:
Your basement looks great. t must be nice to convert all that space. And it is always great to check something off of the to do list. Gret day at DHS. You have been very busy. We had a couple weeks open between basketball and baseball so I've been enjoying that - all set for the Easter Bunny?
Great afternoon at DHS and looks like some fun at the pool!
The basement is coming along great. Looks like the boys had some fun out in the snow!
The pool was fun there.
We didn't last long in the snow. The wind was pretty strong that day and blowing right in our faces.

It's gotten warmer here, but since we got so much snow there is still some in the mounds on parking lots and such.

Thanks Kenny! Everything has been fun (and a little stressful too)!

The Easter Bunny did make it! He brought the boys books and a turtle (Ninja variety). Plus the EB came to the grandparents houses as well. We did get a break from soccer this past weekend and this week from swimming.

Thanks so much Sharon! I need to catch up on yours sometime too.
Seeing you got a foot of snow, and then in the next sentence you saying Dylan & Lukas are starting swimming lessons made me laugh. Definitely two ends of the spectrum.
It's been years since I've eaten at Sci-Fi, but it sounds like you had a great meal. Glad you were able to head back to the pool for a refreshing break. Too bad the pool has that scary clown looking at you the whole time.
Catching up (again!). Glad to hear good things about SciFi - we're heading there this summer for the first time. Your basement looks great - love that you added a 'girlie' touch

Well swim lessons are at an indoor pool.
The clown didn't really freak me out as much as I thought it would.

We LOVE Sci-Fi! It may just be burgers, but the atmosphere is just SO cool! I hope you enjoy it.
We got moving later than we intended but headed to MK about dusk. We walked down Main Street and headed for Fantasyland where we finally rode Pooh. I know we had troubles off & on with this ride during the trip – we’d get a FP then return and the ride would be down. I think that happened several times. The boys had a lot of fun playing with all the things in the queue. So glad Disney has done this and is making more queues interactive.
Note the 10 minute wait late in the day!
Next up was Dumbo. It’s SO gorgeous at night! Mike’s parents separated from us here and went to ride HM. We were to meet at CHH. The boys love to play in the new Dumbo area as well – so glad they had pagers as it was something we could use to say ok time to go ride otherwise they’d stay in there all night. (A few times they wouldn’t give a pager when it was really slow so you never really had a set time to ride.)
This is a slide.
I took lots of photos in here tonight. There's plenty of seating for tired parents & grandparents!
stairs to climb to get to the upper level
pull on the strings to make fireworks appear on the ceiling (sound effects too)
another slide
We discovered CHH was already closed for the night so headed to Cosmic Ray’s which only had one bay open. But we still had a good meal and had front row seats to Sonny Eclipse. It was late and soon fireworks started. We headed outside and watched them near the teacups. Not too bad of a spot, but not the best either. We took a leisurely stroll out and grabbed a few PP pics too before soon we were back home and dreaming sweet dreams.
The Dumbo area looks really cute! Even though my kids are too old for it, I'll have to be sure and check it out IN ONE WEEK! I've actually never ridden Dumbo at all.
Dumbo is really beautiful at night, I'm going to have to make a point to check it out in person next trip since I've only seen it in pictures. Great night you had!
I love the first photo of the train station! I didn't like the new Dumbo area, but seeing how much fun your boys had there makes me look at it properly-- the loud colors bothered me, but of course it's perfect for kids. I'll be there in early September this year and am hoping I get similar crowd levels!
