Where are the kids? At home with their Dads! TR April 13-19, 2010 - Page 35 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Had some time on my hands today and discovered this TR.... and read it all the way through. Love it! Nothing more special than going to the happiest place on Earth with best friends. Your OKW villa looks incredible! We stayed in an OKW studio, and I must admit, I didn't like it... the resort was beautiful, but our room was very dated. The 2-bedroom looks so much better! Sounds like you're already having tons of fun. Can't wait to read more about your adventures!

I think that OKW is starting to refurb so that will be nice. I did enjoy that resort. So quiet and relaxing.
So after a long day I finally met up with my friends and we headed to Le Chefs de France for a lovely dinner.
I ordered the three course dinner that started with the french onion soup
Entree was the braised short rib with pasta. Heather and I had the same thing. And it was really good!
Alma and Judy had the salmon
Then came dessert. You are not going to believe this but I didn't get the creme brulee I got the profiteroles. Which were good
but I would have much rather had this
After dinner we headed outside and toured Morocco for a bit. Then Illuminations started. Always a good show! We walked around WS over to Mousegears and did a little browsing. I think Alma bought her garden knome. We headed to the bus stop and called it a day.
What day is it? LOL! It's day 5-Saturday June 17th
Day 5 Saturday June 17th
Alarm went off way too early again It was the last day of the conference and I was pretty happy about that I have to admit that it is VERY difficult to sit in a conference when you are surrounded by WDW. It took everything in me to get to that darn conference everyday. But I did make it. Unfortunately, it was about the worst conference that I had ever been to. Oh well, it got me to disney and got some CE credits that I'm always needing.
Alma and I decided that we would stay for the morning sessions and then we were making our escape. And that we did! We caught a bus to Downtown Disney and lunch at Earl. It was soooo goood! No food porn but I had the potato soup, BBQ Hawaiian Chicken (minus the BBQ). Delish! I could eat that food everyday. No lie
We did just a little shopping at the scrapbook shop and then headed to catch a boat back to OKW. So we're standing on the dock waiting for our boat to arrive and this girl comes up and tells the other boat driver that her friend was stuck. I don't think he quite knew what she meant b/c he said the next boat driver would help her. Next thing I know Alma says "hold my stuff while I help this girl". WHAT?! Here this teenage girl had gotten her knee/leg stuck inbetween one of the wooden slats on the bridge/boat dock. I mean it was stuck! We put a some lotion on to try to get it out, didn't work. The couple behind us were CMs and they went for help. She was still stuck when our boat arrived. I felt so bad for her. Lesson learned: not that I could get my leg between there, but don't do that!
We got back to our room and I think I took a little siesta. I was tired and needed a little nappy time. Meanwhile, Heather and Maria were having fun at the tequila bar at Epcot. I wish I would have just dragged my sorry butt over there. I didn't see Maria this whole trip!
Later Alma, Judy and I caught a DHS bus and decided to take the boat over to the boardwalk. I love the boardwalk. Definitely on my need to stay here list. We were a little early so we browsed a bit in some shops.
I did not go in the bakery b/c it was so close to our dinner at Kouzzina. But I saw a guy with a big ole funnel cake with a big ole thing of ice cream on it. And it looked SO GOOD! Had my name written all over it.I am so getting one of those next time.
Heather sent me a text that she and Sheri were on there way over. I was so excited to see Sheri! I went in and checked us in at Kouzzina.
Next thing I know here they come!
Oh how I had missed Sheri! I know I always say this but she is a true jem
We always have to pose with our Vera's. Even though I had brought my fake Disney Vera this time.
Before we knew it in we went. Kouzzina was a new place for me this trip and I was excited to try it out. Mixed reviews on this place but I'll tell you right now. I it! Maybe it was the sangria? I'm not sure. But I had a great time with friends that night.
UP NEXT: Dinner at Kouzzina, fireworks and a long trip "home"
I love all the updates!! Sorry about Rocky...I hope he is all better very soon. All the desserts look amazing...makes my pb&j I am currently eating not so yummy.
I have a conference next June at CSR...not sure if I am even going to go...sounds like torture being surrounded by all that happiness and fun only to have to sit and listen to speakers all day...ugh.
Kouzzina Like I said Kouzzina was absolutely lovely. Our server, was very good-in fact I would say this was the best service we had all week.
Of course I had the sangria
It was delish!
For starters I ordered Goat Cheese-stuffed Grape Leaf - Large Grape Leaf filled with Herbed Goat Cheese and Grilled
It was served with some sort of bread. But you needed more of it. Overall good, very rich and definitely share.
For dinner I had a trio which had cinnamon stewed chicken, chargrilled lamb burger and pastitsio.(yes I looked this up on all ears! )
I was glad I went with the trio because I got to try a few different things. I loved the chicken and the burger was good had some kick to it. The pastitsio was good too-different but good.
Of course for dessert I had the baklava. It was served with pistachio gelato. It was sooooo goood!
Overall a wonderful meal. Great atmosphere and I would definitely go back again.
UP NEXT: Fireworks and our long trip "home" Stay Tuned! Lots more fun to come!!!!
What a fun update! Scary about that girl and her leg
I know Cheryl! I felt so bad for her. She was laughing but it had to hurt and I'm sure she was embarassed. I think she was laughing so she wouldn't cry. She was in the right hands when we left though.

Just wait til you see the dessert party pics! LOL! That's still to come! It was really hard to be in the conference. But hey it got me to WDW so I wasn't complaining. It was just a bad conference that's all.
Great updates Ginger. Poor girl, cannot believe she got her leg stuck, I still remember going to a 4th of July BBQ and a friends daughter (she must have been about 2 or 3) got her head stuck between the black iron bars that circled the park. It was definitely a scene with the and firemen who had to come and extract her . Hope the girl was alright...
Dinner at Chef de France looked delish - I love the short ribs there, there are so good and the soup . I have to admit I have never gotten myself to try another dessert, the creme brulee always gets me but your dessert looked very yummy as well.
I love the Boardwalk area, that is on my list as well, your dinner looked delicious, glad you were able to spend some time with Sheri.
Sending more for Rocky, hope everything goes well with his surgery today.
