Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

I say, if her self-esteem is in a place that's she's comfortable wearing that, than GO FOR IT. If her husband/family and herself feels good, than GOOD FOR HER.

I've lived YEARS having poor self esteem and hiding in every imagination tent top and dress. I only WISH I had the self-esteem this woman has. BRAVO FOR HER!

I just hope no one takes a picture of my behind and posts it somewhere with derogatory remarks.

BTW - Cheryl, I know you weren't saying this and were remarking how it was inappropriate and that probably is true. I saw a thin woman with this same costume on at our trip and thought the same thing.
I know where you're coming from Yvonne. I wish I'd also got a photo of the pirate who was a perfect size whatever, but her costume was equally inappropriate, with an exceptionally low cut top (and I mean exceptionally - it was pretty much all on display! ) and then there was the woman in a costume (can't remember what) again perfect size (I hate these women! ), but it was almost see through and we all thought the same thing (I think Lori actually said this to her! ) - "don't go on Splash Mountain in that".

Wednesday 22 October – part one: is that a shuttle I can see?

I really did not want to know when the wake up call came at 6.30. We had only been asleep for six and a half hours, but never mind. A while later, we crawled out of bed and got going slowly.

We still made our ADR at 7.30 at Spoodles and had a very nice breakfast there. Once again, there were some more unusual choices on the menu, including the vegetable flatbread that I had, while Mark was a bit more traditional and had the All American. Mine was very good, but boy it was a little bit laced with pepper, so much so that I had to have orange juice to wash it down. It was a pleasant enough start to the day though and we had a very nice server in the shape of Anne-Marie, who looked after us very well.

Spoodles:

Food 8 8
Service 8½ 8
Atmosphere 8 7½
Value for money 8 8

Average score: 8.00

We filled our refillable mugs up at the BoardWalk Bakery and went to pick up the car.

I did want to see if I could get into Cinderella’s Royal Table or the Princess Storybook Breakfast for tomorrow and went to concierge, but I couldn’t get near it, as there were two Cast Members dealing with one person and we just weren’t moving, with another person waiting in front of me, so I gave up.

From there, it was over to the Kennedy Space Centre and we had a very good run over there.

We were there just before 10.00 and went straight through security to jump on one of the bus tours around the complex. This is the only way you can see the centre. Unfortunately, we didn’t quite make the first one, but we were on the second bus of the day.

On the way, we saw the Main Assembly building – Mark instantly remembered the fact from a previous visit that the stripes could fit a double decker bus on them.

Our first stop was the gantry, where you can see both of the shuttle launch pads A and B. Endeavour was out on pad A, preparing for its November launch and we were told that the other two shuttles were also on base today – Atlantis and Discovery. It was really cool to be able to see a shuttle out on the pad and that was a very pleasant surprise.

A space shuttle main engine, which completed 15 space flights

Sadly the rest of the things at the gantry weren’t working too well and the movie theatre was out of action, so it was a quick visit to the gantry and then a long wait for the bus to the next stop. Some shots on the way:

The seats where the astronaut’s family and the media watch the launches from

Next: what do you mean, “it will start in 2002”?

Those pics of KSC bring back memories! We went there two years ago and enjoyed it. Unfortunately, the new Shuttle Launch Experience wasn't open yet back then (i think we missed it by a few months?). Can't wait to hear if you went on it!

Ah, I forgot about that lady. I suggested that she might want to avoid Splash Mtn. Not only was the dress almost see through ~ one little movement and something might've popped out of her top.

I think there was maybe one other table or possibly two, but that was it.

Great updates and pictures! I love how the little girl is looking at Cinderella. I thought all the special lighting effects at the Party were very cool. Great pictures from the party and all the special events going on that night. Did you catch the Hidden Mickey in your picture from Spoodles? Thanks for the pictures from the Space Center - I had forgotten you were going there on this trip. We went back in 2000 and saw a good bit, but nowhere near everything. I think two days would be best. I remember not enjoying the day too much because I had a cold. Yes, it can be quite a wait in between buses at the stops on the tour. But I liked that you didn't have to stay together as a group and get back on the same bus. At least you get to tour at your own pace. I guess it's a trade-off. Very cool that you got to see a shuttle on the launch pad, they were empty the day we visited.
