10 Nights of Magic in The Orlando Trifecta-TR - COMPLETE!! 12/10 - Page 34 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Wonderful finish to your meal at V&A! So sweet of Drew and Dot to make this possible on this trip. It would have been a shame for you to miss out on this trip.
It was a great end and can't believe it was 4.5 hours! I've dined in this room before and being solo it was much less at around 3.5 hours and I guess that's where the difference is as there were three of us as everything was spaced out more. I would have been extremely disappointed to miss out on this as I've been here on every WDW trip since 2003 and only 2002 I didn't go. I was just getting versed about WDW and my first trip. I was just apprehensive about dining alone here and wasn't sure if I'd enjoy it. So glad I made the move in 2003!
I can't thank Dot and Drew enough for inviting me to join them as they know from my previous TRs how much I enjoy dining here and the overall experience from start to finish! There was certainly some divine intervention and "Pixies" involved with this this possibility, which most happily became a reality!
For Dot and Drew..... and

The photos came out so well and we all look good. Can't believe how relaxed I look after so much food and 4 hours of included wine pairings! I love the case for the checks and just another little something to make the experience better, until you look at the bill itself! The chocolates were amazing and some of the best I've had in my life and that's saying something. Always loved Godiva with their ganaches and truffles, which are so good. I've had some amazing ones at some great chocolate shops in Paris as well.

It certainly came out well as the three of us look so relaxed and enjoying our meal! More amazingly as this was at the four hour point of the evening!

Yes it was for sure! Just enjoyed it so much and probably my favorite ever at V & A's and not surprisingly as I got to experience it with two very special people in Dot and Drew who thought it in themselves to invite someone to experience it with them! They know from my TRs how much I love this place and felt it was the right thing to do. Very unselfish of them and so well appreciated on my end and I will never forget this gesture! Most importantly as it was a special celebration they decided to include me on as it was Drew's birthday!

One more lovely detail about the elderly couple at the nearby table that slipped Dave’s mind—
As Dave mentioned, they were more than a bit shocked and somewhat overcome upon being advised that their children had arranged to pay for their meal.
Either Al or Israel, I don’t recall which, presented the gentleman with a beautiful box that contained a 50-year-old Madeira, also a gift from their children because their father was especially fond of Madeira wines. And likely a generous gift indeed since aged Madeiras can be very expensive.
Perhaps the couple were celebrating their 50th? They looked of an age to have been married that long. I don’t recall, but it was an exciting addition to an already wonderful dinner.
As for our desserts, I enjoyed the banana gateau although wasn’t tremendously fond of it.
I refused the Peruvian chocolate one outright, something I’ve never before done. (Me? Refuse a V&A’s dessert? I’d never have envisioned that happening. )
That one simply looked too weird to me—like a squooshed eyeball with very long fake eyelashes. ICK! Not appetizing at all! One of the few V&A’s dishes I haven’t found visually appealing. Usually, every one is such an artwork, I hate destroying it.
Oh, and Dave’s recollection was a bit faulty as to which of us, Drew or I, chose four of those wonderful brandy-soaked cherry chocolates. That was me. Drew wanted two of those and two of the sea-salt caramels.
Those cherries are marinated for six full months, Drew and I were told once before. The fumes alone from those chocolates could make one a bit tipsy, but my! is that ever a delicious brandy that enhances the cherries marvelously!
Thanks Dot for your recollection on this as I guess my memory was a bit lapsed to a degree on some of this. I had forgotten that those cherries were soaked in Brandy and I'm sure to die for. I had thought Drew chose those but he may have for you and I guess that's where I erred.
The Peruvian Chocolate was very good but I guess the presentation threw Dot off and not appealing to her. Plus this was the tenth course and obviously quite full at this time.
Thanks for the details of the couple as I had forgotten about the Madeira wine they received from their kids. I remember they received a nice gift outside the meal but couldn't remember what it was exactly. Quite a nice one to say the least. You were closer to them on your side of the table and saw more of what was going on. Certainly, an amazing and truly memorable anniversary dinner for the two of them. I'm sure they savored that Madeira!
Not sure what else I can add to this!

What a great end to your meal, and a wonderful picture of the three of you.
It was a perfect ending to a meal the three of us enjoyed so much! A few things Dot wasn't overly fond of and she's never had this happen to her in her previous experiences here. Mainly due to that she wasn't feeling 100% and would have a nasty cold for a while when she got home! That photo came out well, it's a keeper and why I've now included it in my sig!

What a great end to your dinner. Very nice picture of the three of you and I love the story about the kids paying for their parent's dinner...one day that will be my kids
It certainly sounds like you enjoyed your evening not only due to the delicious food but the company also. I loved the story of the couple celebrating a special anniversary and their children treating them. You collected some nice Disney memories on this trip and the WDW portion hasn't even truly begun yet.

What a superb ending to a wonderful meal! I love the picture of the three of you and I'm so glad you've made it your new signature pic. It's lovely.
I loved the story about how the children paid for their parents' anniversary meal - that is some present.
That was the way to end it and perfect! I love the photo and so suitable for my sig. I may change it as the TR progresses but will most likely use it again, when my TR is done...but that will be a long time!
The anniversary dinner of the other couple was quite fascinating to see and especially their reaction as they were quite overwhelmed.

A perfecting ending to it that I enjoyed so much! I love that photo as I generally don't like posing for photos that much. That was quite interesting with the other couple and watching it unfold in front of us.

It was an amazing evening and dinner which I enjoyed so much. It was absolutely the perfect way to do it by joining Dot and Drew who appreciate haute cuisine as much as I do.
It was quite something to see the reaction of this couple and how surprised they were!
I've enjoyed some amazing moments and memories on my trip alredy and just three days in. There is still one full day in Universal before I get to WDW.

I was describing that Peruvian chocolate to Luke today using pretty much the same description you've written here. A little to creepy for me!

I'd agree that it was a bit creepy looking, but I didn't care as the chocolate flavor was just so good and enjoyed it so much! Well you look at it for a bit on your plate and before you know it...down the hatch and loving every bit of it!
It was not a big portion and was gone before I knew it!
Here it is again for your reference.

Very odd looking dessert! I thought it looked like an upside down millipede!
Yes it was odd looking and good way to describe it! I don't care how it looked as it wasn't going to be in that state for long! I took care of it with pure enjoyment and delight!
