A Baltic boating adventure TRIP REPORT COMPLETED 11/19 - Page 34 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Good for you, getting in a swim. I know what you mean about losing ground if you only take it easy on a trip.
Does seem it would make sense to check the functionality of the various parts of the Persian Garden before opening.
Look at all those benedicts! I would have never guessed. Very cool.
Good for you getting your swimming in. It's so very difficult to keep up with exercising on vacations. I'm truly terrible at it - and then pay for it upon returning. So, great job!

Glad you were able to get a kettle for your morning tea. I always feel a bit more "civilized" if I've had a cup of coffee before I have to face the world, vacation or no vacation.
It's the same with us and tea!

Good job sticking with the exercise routine. Not always easy to do when on vacation--I admire your determination !
Gosh... if only... I don't think I've done my proper exercise regime since then and now we're six weeks on. When we got home, I thought I had sinus, got treated for that and it cleared up, then came back. Now they think it's neuralgia. I reacted badly to the meds they put me on to deal with that and coupled with extremely hot weather, which wears me out and leaves it hard to sleep (neither good for my chronic fatigue). I am getting better, but nowhere near enough to get back to exercise yet...

It does make sense, but sadly it seemed as if they didn't stick to that, as we had a few examples of going in there in the morning and things not working.

Taking some time off to treat an underlying medical issue is the sensible thing to do, imo. Pushing yourself when you aren't well isn't smart (yes'm, that IS personal experience I'm speaking from.) And the weather has been too beastly hot to do much anyway. Just concentrate on getting better, as the pool will be there when you're ready!
PassPorter's Free-Book to Walt Disney World It’s hard to believe anything is free at Walt Disney World; but there are actually a number of things you can get or do for little to no cost. This e-book documents over 200 free or cheap tips to do before you go and after you arrive. You could save a considerable amount of money following these tips. Perhaps more importantly; you can discover overlooked attractions and little-known details most people whiz by on their way to spend money. Click here to see free sample pages from the e-book! Get this popular e-book free of extra charges when you join the PassPorter's Club for as little as $4.95. A club pass includes access to all our other e-books; e-worksheets; super-size photos; and more! This e-book is also available for separate purchase in the PassPorter Online Store for just $5.95.

I know it will and I am getting better - having temperatures more in the 70s (we were in the mid 90s last week ) is a huge improvement and thankfully it's cooler at night. Trying to sleep in the heat has been a nightmare the last week or so.
Nice surprise in your room with the tea kettle! Too funny at breakfast with all those variations of Eggs Benedict! Seems like the entire European Union was represented plus Mexico! Too bad with the continued problems at the Persian Garden! At least you still got to enjoy a lot in the Solarium!

The breakfast buffet looks delicious and extensive. Persian Garden isn't really impressing at this point. Too bad!
It was a very nice place, but you're right, it didn't overly impress with all the various problems they had in there during the course of the cruise, which was a shame.
Wednesday 8 June – part two: we’re here for the crepes!
About 12:30pm, we headed down to deck 5 for lunch, and this is what we found – a keep fit class in the lobby:
There was absolutely no way that you would ever catch me doing something like this in public. I don’t mind people seeing me swimming, but I guess it’s no different. It certainly shattered the quiet and peaceful atmosphere, and I did say to Mark it’s almost like you have to check the daily schedule to see what’s happening where, as a lot of things impact on other areas, they’re so loud.
We were heading for this place…
It’s got a $10/person cover charge as it’s a creperie, and I fancied trying it for lunch. When we arrived, there were literally two other couples there, and that was it, but the longer we stayed, the more the place filled up. We got a waterside table, which was nice:
We had our Croatian server from the Tuscan Grille as our server, and he was lovely, and we were happily chatting away, but then it got really weird. Before we got our entrees, he disappeared, and we never saw him again the whole of the meal. It was such a shame, as he was lovely, and no-one said to us that he’d gone off shift or anything like that. It took the shine off the meal for us.
While we were sitting there, there was also a wedding. Last night, in the Sky Lounge, Mark had volunteered to take a photo of a group, and he realised it was them. So at least he can say he was part of the wedding party – sort of!
Although we were here for the crepes, there was plenty of other items on the menu, so we decided we might as well fill up, given that dinner probably wouldn’t be until later on, as we were going to try the Moonlight Sonata main restaurant this evening, and the note in our room talked about it being quieter to dine there after 8:15pm.
We both ordered burgers, after a very lengthy discussion about whether or not the veggie burger contained Quorn. Our server had never heard of it, but made a note of it, so he could Google it, and find out all about it later. He asked the chef, who said but as he said, the chef looked as blank as he did, when he heard the name. Fingers crossed it would be Ok.
We were warned the burgers are cooked from scratch, so it would be about 20 minutes, and we were asked if we wanted anything to start with. As the soup of the day was cream of corn (not Quorn, as our server joked! ), I went for that, and it was very good.
Mark asked for a Caesar salad, and ended up being presented with this monster:
Basically they just provided him with the main course version! What made me laugh was that he complained about how big it was, then proceeded to demolish the whole thing!
For main course, I got the mushroom burger “vegetarian”, with grilled Portobello mushroom, arugula (I disposed of most of it, as arugula doesn’t really agree with me ), goat cheese, and red pepper aioli. What they didn’t say was that there was a massive chunk of raw onion on the bottom with the arugula. Thank goodness I spotted that, otherwise that could’ve been unpleasant. I am no fan of that stuff!
Mark got the Bistro’s “signature” burger, which came with comte cheese, caramelised onion relish, tomato marmalade and a brioche bun.
Dessert though was what we’d come here for. We both went for the French crepe with Grand Marnier and candied orange. The crepe was beautifully cooked, although we both commented that we could’ve done with some more sugar, as it was a little tart, and my goodness, you could certainly taste the alcohol.
