Star Wars Weekends: Episode IV - New Hope(s) May/June 2012 - Page 34 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

No more MONDAYS! We are staying at Pop this year! I prefer POFQ or Polly. But, with Lillian graduating(8th grade), buying a new home and car, a wedding to pay for and cheer camps we went Value. I told Peter it is kind of nostalgic for me because when I first started to bring Lilly as a single Mom we always stayed value! It will be nice to re-visit my favorite Value! Not this year but, maybe next we are going to look into Vacation Club. I am happy we are super busy this week so Friday will be here before I know it!
Congrats, now you are doing the single digit dance.
The zoo sounds like it was a lot of fun. I was at the zoo once when it was feeding time for the big cats - that was pretty cool.
Do you work for the Cardinals organization? I mean how cool is that to see the WS trophy in person - just wondering how that all came about.
Evan and I had a busy weekend too - I'm totally exhausted. We went to Baltimore to see Fort McHenry (or as he calls is Fort McKenze) and we got to take part in the flag raise ceremony and then yesterday we were at Andrew's Airforce Base to watch the Blue Angels. Evan got on the shuttle bus from the parking lot to the air base and turns to me and says "I'm so excited" with this big grin on his face. That alone made it all worth while.
- I think I'm barely able to hold my excitement in right now!

I haven't yet. I usually do right at 10 days, but after rerading Sharon's advice about only doing it 2-3 days beforehand I was going to wait, but that's Memorial Day weekend so things might be crazier. I think I'll do it Wednesday.

Just half a Monday to go, well we have next Monday too, but it doesn't count since we're off.
Take a tour of DVC if you get a chance this trip. We never did, but always wanted to. Let me know if you have any questions about DVC. We LOVE it!

Is Dylan into the Blue Angles and military stuff?
I don't work for the Cardinals - I wish! They do have the trophy at home games available to see until the 6th inning and they had a tour of it as well. I work at a company called Emerson and we have season tickets. I think the Cardinals called season ticket holders (businesses I assume) to see if they'd like to bring it into work. It was really cool. I saw the 2006 trophy as well.
What a great day you had! Dylan isn't into all that too much - he'd probably think they were too noisy. I can just 'see' Evan's face and expression.

The weekend started off great with Dylan scoring another two goals Saturday morning! He’s improved so much from when he started last fall and has come a long way this season as well. I can’t wait to see how he does this fall! Afterwards we did our tradition of going out for breakfast after the game – this time Cracker Barrel. From there Mike & the boys went home with him parents so I could do some packing. I think I got a fair share done but still a bit more to do. It was nice being home by myself without any distractions. I also cleaned out the cars this weekend (Mike’s Saturday and mine on Sunday) and moved the car seats around. Lukas is now forward facing and they switched sides as Dylan wanted to sit ‘on the right’, so he’s behind the passenger now.
I got some cleaning and laundry done yesterday so that should help with finishing the packing this weekend. Still need to clean the bathrooms and possibly more laundry (mainly the boys) after this week – it’s going to be sunny and hotter every day with Friday being 94! I dread what July will bring this year. Luckily Mike’s parents opened their pool Friday so at least there will be an escape from the heat this weekend.
I made an appointment Saturday morning to get a mani/pedi and sometime this weekend I’ll also be getting a Mystic Tan. I’m getting my haircut tonight and need to color it this week sometime as well – I’m getting grayer & grayer!! I’ll also be stopping at Wal-Mart once my prescriptions are ready. Mike & I each did a research study recently and made $185 so that will be turned into Disney gift cards once he picks up his check tonight. (He did a study on razors while I did one about a blood glucose machine that links to an insulin pump – easiest $100 I ever made!)
We did have an ADR change yesterday, but it’s a good one! Heather (ilovedisney247) will be joining us for lunch at Teppan Edo on Saturday, June 2! I’m so excited! I told her I’d ditch the boys Thursday night to eat with her but she said that wasn’t necessary and what about Friday. Friday is SWW day and it’s jam packed, so Saturday it was and TE even had the same time available we already had, so it was a piece of cake. Can’t wait to ‘Dine with Heather’!
General Tagge: What of the Rebellion? If the Rebels have obtained a complete technical reading of this station, it is possible, however unlikely, they might find a weakness and exploit it. Darth Vader: The plans you refer to will soon be back in our hands. Admiral Motti: Any attack made by the Rebels against this station would be a useless gesture, no matter what technical data they have obtained. This station is now the ultimate power in the universe! I suggest we use it! Darth Vader: Don't be too proud of this technological terror you've constructed. The ability to destroy a planet is insignificant next to the potential of the Force. Admiral Motti: Don't try to frighten us with your sorcerous ways, Lord Vader. Your sad devotion to that ancient Jedi religion has not helped you conjure up the stolen data tapes, or given you enough clairvoyance to find the rebels' hidden fortress...
[Vader makes a pinching motion and Motti starts choking] Darth Vader: I find your lack of faith disturbing. Governor Tarkin: Enough of this! Vader, release him! Darth Vader: As you wish.
[He does]
But Kelly.............the booze, what about the booze????? What have you decided to do. I need the important details please
No really, Yeah Dylan on his goals!!! Josie wants be play soccer now, which I think will be fun but I'm pretty sure she's going to be Lucy from Peanuts.....
Love the pampering you are getting this week. Feels good to get all the glam things done at once and not spaced out over a whole month.
Yeah for dining with Heather.........please have a drink for me ladies
