The Holi-Canoli! Whirlwind Trip That Wasn't Supposed to Be - Page 34 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I think meeting Prince Philip was the highlight of our trip. She loved it!
I know how she feels. I got to meet him at the MVMCP, and I thought I was going to pass out. I literally jumped out of Mickey's line when I heard the little girl behind me mention Prince Phillip. I would have waited all night if I had too. Victoria has great taste in Prine's.
Looks like you all had a great time at the party. And Victoria is an amazing artist! I wish I had that kind of talent.

I read about your meeting Prince Philip in your TR. it! Victoria is so logical. What other prince goes to more trouble to get the girl? He searches for her, gets thrown into a dungeon and chained up, slashes through thorns, and fights a dragon for her! He would rather lose his status as Prince than to lose her. I love it!
I wish I could draw like Victoria, too. I don't know where she gets it. Not me.
After the party last night, we were a little tired, but we all got up and got dressed in our semi-matching shirts. We were headed to MK! We decided to have breakfast at Main Street Bakery. That put some quick in Victoria’s step.
We drove to MK and parked in the AAA Diamond parking. We really didn’t expect big crowds today since it was a Monday in November. We walked to the entrance. I took this along the way.
We easily made it through bag check and headed straight for Main Street Bakery. We were hungry. Wow! It looked like everyone had the same idea. The bakery was packed. We stood in line for a while, and when I finally saw a table open up, I asked Victoria to grab it for us. She did. We placed our order, got our food and sat down. There is nothing like their cinnamon rolls. Michael and I had those...
Victoria got a croissant. She’s our little European girl. She eats very, very slowly, drinks her drinks (sodas, water, etc.) with NO ice, and would eat bread with every meal if she could. She LOVES bread and no matter where we go, if they have croissants, she gets one.
We enjoyed our breakfast but wanted to leave so someone else could have our table. We went to the castle for PP pictures. I them!
We went to the Tiki Tiki Tiki Room. (I like the original best.) I finally got some decent pictures in there. It is so hard when you can’t use your flash.
After the show, we meandered around. It was really busy! I couldn’t figure out why. It was a lot more crowded than we are used to. Perhaps because it was closed to non-party goers last night? Who knows?
Bird wandering around Liberty Square.
Michael had never been to Hall of Presidents, so that is where we went to next. I love all the portraits and memorabilia inside.
I love Bush’s inaugural boots.
The best U.S. President from my lifetime ~
We enjoyed the show. It brings a tear to my eyes and means even more to me now with my husband in the military. 9/11 always makes me cry.
We were tired. We really didn’t feel like doing a whole lot. We had ADRs at The Plaza Restaurant, so we knew we’d hang out for lunch. We walked back to the hub and I took some pictures. The flowers were a stunning array of color.
I think I must not have taken many pictures because my next pictures are of The Plaza.
So, we went to The Plaza and checked in.
We were seated right away. I hadn’t eaten here since I was a little girl. I remember eating here with my daddy. I was looking forward to eating here with my DH and DD. The menus were so pretty!
We ordered and waited.
It didn’t take long and we were served. Michael ordered the Angus Chuck Cheeseburger - served on a flour-dusted Kaiser roll with lettuce, tomato, onion. He chose bacon and cheese, too.
Victoria ordered the Turkey Sandwich - smoked turkey, bacon, lettuce, tomato and mayo on toasted multigrain bread.
I ordered the Plaza Club - smoked ham, turkey, bacon, lettuce, tomato and mayo layered on sourdough bread.
It was all heavenly! We really enjoyed lunch here. I’m pretty sure we’ll be go back.
While we were eating, a couple of characters came in. This man came in pulling an old-fashioned pull toy.
This loud woman followed him and they announced that they were looking for the 100th family at the restaurant that day.
After the characters wandered the restaurant calling out the name of the special family for what seemed like an eternity, the family finally answered. The characters were mispronouncing their name so they didn’t think it was them. You’d think that if someone was close enough to your name, you’d wonder if it was you. I’m glad the family was found and got whatever special prize it was they were giving out. I haven’t a clue what it was.
Have I mentioned we were tired. We decided to go back to the resort to take a nap. This, my dear readers, is a first in Dawson history. So, after lunch, we left. I grabbed a picture on our way out. I wasn’t sure how much longer the fall decor would be out.
We went back to the resort, napped and played the Wii. We NEVER went back to the park or any other park. Another first for the Dawon family. It was good to relax.
I cooked dinner. Who knows what? I fixed all of Michael’s favorite meals while we were there. I did want to do something special for dessert, so we went to Beaches and Cream! This, too, was another first for us. It was so cute! I loved the whole atmosphere. We walked right in and were seated right away.
The menus were cute!
Victoria and I enjoyed picking songs on the juke box.
We were too full to order the kitchen sink. Maybe one day. Michael and I ordered the No Way Jose.
Victoria ordered the Fudge Mudslide.
Our waitress took a family picture for us.
We enjoyed our dessert very much! The No Way Jose was incredible. Victoria’s was just okay to me. We will definitely have to visit here again one day.
We left Beaches and Cream and looked around the resort. It was so pretty. I loved this “hidden” Mickey.
We walked back to our car, and I took this picture as we left.
It was a totally different day than we have ever spent at WDW, but it was a good day. Relaxing and napping was needed. It was a good day!
This pic just has me ......how excited you guys are to be together, but at the same time knowing that R&R doesn't last nearly long enough. I say that b/c when my DH was home on his R&R I would hold his arm the same way you are in this pic with Michael whenever I needed to know he was really there & I wasn't dreaming. That probably doesn't make sense to most people, but if you are a military wife, I know you understand what I am sayin!
the Cruella video! It is so awesome to see how the CM got some pixie dust of her own that night!!
OK - all caught up What great updates! Victoria is very talented! The CM you had was truly amazing. I think it was Dawn that said her friends don't always understand the magic of WDW - mine are the same - but THIS is IT! I'm looking forward to a few relaxing days like your last post when we go in the summer.....can't wait to read more!

You totally get it! Oh, it was so sad when we had to say goodbye again. You'll see soon enough. Boo hoo! It is almost like you're dreaming and you have to touch him to make sure he's really there.
The whole Cruella thing was something we will never forget. It was amazing! I hope she has kept the picture and will remember Victoria. On the back of the picture, Victoria wrote, "To Cruella, Love, Victoria Dawson." So, hopefully it will always be special to her.
Relaxing days can be great! Glad you enjoyed yours! your semi-matching shirts. Luke had the No Way Jose last June and I'm seriously thinking about have one myself when we go back this June.
