Four if By Land, Six if By Sea Updated 3/29 COMPLETE - Page 34 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

And finally The Incredibles (or Credibles as Maddie likes to call them ). They were so excited when we told them that we had just watched their movie again on tv last night. Maddies autograph book was officially full at this point, so I had to ask them to sign the inside cover of her book which is meant for the owners name and address. It took a little work on my part to convince Mrs. Incredible that she could sign there.
This is the Incredibles being humble about us just having seen their movie again the night before.
Mary Devall wanted to ride GMR, but Maddie yelled out a big NO to that suggestion followed by No fire! Thom offered to take Maddie to do something else, so Mary Devall and I took off for the GMR entry where we walked and we walked and we walked until we walked right on the ride. Absolutely no line whatsoever! We ended up with the cowboy scene and a very old cowboy!
I called Thom after our ride and discovered that he and Maddie were at Sci Fi seeing if they had his KTTW and TIW cards. I could not believe what I was hearing! I had just gotten us a new one in November after a certain someone had lost the last card in October! A certain someone was about to lose their TIW card carrying privileges. Thankfully, he announced that they had it when he and Maddie rolled up to us moments later.
We hadnt seen the Indiana Jones stunt show in years, so we had thought it might be fun to catch it today. We had great seats near the bottom left of the theater. Mary Devall absolutely loved it, but Maddie kept her ears covered for much of the showing and asked over and over again Is it over yet? I had totally forgotten how much fire was in this show! Im pretty sure that Indiana Jones is now on Maddies dont ride list right after Snow White, Pooh, and GMR.
We had just enough time for the girls to have some snacks before our ride on TSMM. Mary Devall wanted ice cream, so we stopped at Gerties right across from the Indiana Jones theater for a waffle cone filled with chocolate ice cream. For our little pop corn eater, we went to the stand across from TSMM. We stood in a little corner while the girls finished their snacks watching the mania that is TSMM.
Not too long after the last bite of ice cream was gone (Thom did have to help out there, but then again I was helping out with the disposal of the popcorn ), our FPs were finally ripe. Maddie rode with Thom and actually got a turtle this time. Im still holding steady at the beaver, but I was proud of Mary Devall for not letting the puffs of air get to her this time.
I had told Thom earlier in the day that he could stay and ride RnRC when we were ready to leave for the day. He was easily convinced and had already picked up a FP with Maddie while Mary Devall and I were riding GMR. I am pretty sure when he pulled out his AP to get a FP that he discovered that his KTTW and TIW cards were missing.
The girls and I had done everything that we wanted to do today, so we decided to head back to BW. Of course, we all got stopped by the end of the Block Party Bash, but the girls enjoyed seeing what they could of it. We said to Thom at Sunset Blvd. and then we watched the rest of the parade until it was over and the crowd had cleared.
Instead of turning left to exit, I turned right because I still had not had my snack. I lead the girls right to Min and Bills because I had been dying to try one of the milkshakes thanks to a certain friend of mine who shall remain nameless.
Sharon (oops . . . wasnt going to mention her name, was I? ) had advertised these as some of the thickest shakes that she had ever tasted, so of course I had to try one. I ordered a vanilla shake and a gigantic chocolate chip cookie for Mary Devall (the ice cream had probably not even settled in her stomach yet, but the girl is always game for more sweets ) and we were soon headed back towards the exit with treats in hand.
I should have known that something was up with Maddie when she didnt ask for anything at Min and Bills. Before we even reached the gates, I looked down and noticed that Maddies head was slumped over. This was one more tired little girl. I took the bucket of popcorn out of her hands and placed it in the storage area under the stroller before we continued on our walk.
Up next . . . Mary Devall's idea of a 5th park.

You sure do see a lot of characters! And the pictures with them are GREAT! Especially those with the Big Cheese himself. My in-laws told us about the car being missing and I too am about that. I heard it may have something to do with waiting for the new American Idol Experience.
Man Jill...you must have one awesome training routine when outside of WDW because there is no sign of those onion rings, chili, or an extra thick and yummy milkshake on them hips!
Glad Thom could steal a little RnRC time while you girls caught the Block Party Bash.

Sounds like the Sci Fi was yummy! So glad Thom didn't lose him TIW card privileges! I don't know what is is with men losing things like that. I remember back before check cards, we were always going back places to retrieve our checkbook! DH was just lucky that we never actually lost it.
I am anxiously awaiting Mary Devall's idea for a 5th park. I have a feeling it is a good one!
What a great day at DHS....I am so enjoying see all the wonderful pictures. You really got your money worth with the Photopass
Whata yummy lunch over at the Sci-Fi....glad the girls were ok with the accomodations. We ended up walking in as well in December....had a saucer table in the back, but car or not....love those onion rings.
PS - lord love a duck! Does Thom have an endless supply of ugly shorts?
I noticed this too. Pat has several pairs, and I think he only packs three pairs of shorts. All ugly. But 20 shirts. Who packs 20 shirts?????
I love Sci-Fi. That is a Welch Family (including nieces and nephews) favorite. I'm so going to follow your Two Appetizer meal next time. And I'm not sharing my onion rings.
So cute! You all packed alot into one day. I can't wait for more.
