Saving the Magic (with Cam and Luke plus Morgan) COMPLETED - Page 33 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Welcome! We're happy you've found the PassPorter Community -- the friendliest place to plan your vacation to Walt Disney World, Disney Cruise Line, Disneyland, and the world in general! Sorry Morgan had all of you had such a long wait for the MK bus. Waiting can be so hard when you are just anxious to go, go go! Glad when you got in MK you caught the parade.
I LOVE the castle pictures. All of you look great!
I love Morgan's excitement about SP, too. Yippee she got to finally hop some rides!
How sweet the SWA pilots sent the balloon to your room! That is just beyond magical.
Can't wait for more! (and let;s see those purchases!! )

Great update, looks like you had a fun morning at Epcot. Nothing beats a like shopping, I love the pins and the laynard, they are so cool. Looking forward to the rest of your day.
What a fantastic evening! I the Mickey balloon! How magical!

Soarin' was busy that day. Mike & Dylan rode it right before dinner and that was our first stop of the day (we did get there late since we had breakfast at Chef Mickey's). It was kind of like FPs for TSMM.
We're used to Soarin' being busy but this day was one of the worst we had seen.

Stitch as Yoda was part of the reason I had to have this lanyard. I have the Stitch as Yoda figure and Vinylmation both.

I understand that, because I feel the same about my nieces and nephews, I love them as much as I love my own children, in a different way, maybe, but just as much. To be able to share in the fun of our great nieces at WDW last year was priceless to me. But to have gone through what you did and almost immediately allow Morgan to share the joy of Disney with you is a testament of the Faith and Love God has given you and Luke to share with those you Love. And I admire you both. I know that Morgan's presence helped you get through a vacation that you may not have been able to get through without her.
I really like the pictures of Luke and Morgan. Mission Space is not one of my favorites, but I'm glad Morgan liked at least half of it!
so much for your kind words! You have touched my heart tonight (and caused me to shed a few good tears).

Looks like the start of a good day. I am in agreement....no orange side here either, I am not a fan of the green side as well, too tight spaced for me, even though it is rare I feel clostrophobic that ride does it too me. Jasmine would never ride...so Angel usually finds someone to ride with at least once (she is a gren side girl too ).
Love the pin purchases!!! When you said you were heading into Mouse Gears, I cannot imagine what you were feeling, so many TRs of yours came flooding back to me as I know what a favorite shopping place it was for you and Stefanie. I like to think that while you wandered you were not alone, have no doubt there was an angel whispering in your ear "mom, think you need to buy that".
I actually talked to Stefanie about some of the stuff I was finding while in Mouse Gear. It was the only way to keep from feeling sorry for myself because now I was alone.

I love the pins and lanyard! Mousegears is my absolute favorite place to shop on property! I always seem to find exactly what I need and don't need and many other things! The girls and I always make that shop a priority!
Can't wait to see what you bought!
You all sound just like me and Stefanie about this store. It's one of the few we never failed to visit together.

You really don't know how important you were to our enjoyment of this trip. You saved me from too many times alone shopping. Never forget you are in my thoughts, too!

See Tink is hard and it isn't. Depends on the day if Tink makes me smile or cry. But she always reminds me of my very spunky kiddo.

I'm sure you will forever be noticing things that Stefanie would like. Even I do that at Disney-- she was such a famous shopper here, I think we all got to know her taste!
Luke is a thrill ride seeker. In the past he has had to do these all alone while Stefanie and I went shopping. But he was so excited to have someone join him on all the big rides.
I think anyone who knew Stefanie even a little bit came to know her taste. She wasn't shy about letting folks know what she liked.

MouseGears is one of my favorite places to shop at WDW. There is just soooooo much stuff. Drives my family crazy, but I could spend hours just wandering around going "ooooooh" and "aahhhh." Can't wait to see what you ended up buying.
I get nauseous thinking about MS, too! Not my style, as Stefanie would say!
I liked that I'd had time to sort through what I wanted before Luke and Morgan joined me so I didn't feel rushed.

I was always thankful that Stefanie enjoyed shopping with her Mom.
I just love seeing your balconies! Isn't that crazy???
And there is just something about walking through International Gateway....
The sand sculpture of Brave was amazing! I took many pictures of it!!
I am so proud of Morgan for doing MS! I did it once and never again!!!!
The pin purchases are great! I didn't buy one pin when we were there.
I can't wait to see the pictures of what you purchased!
And just so you know, I find myself looking and picking things up for Stefanie when I am shopping too!!! I loved sending her Disney things! She was so fun to buy for!
How brave of Morgan to try the orange side. I love thrill rides, but the orange side is a bit too intense for me too! Can't wait to see your purchases. I love the pins!
I'm not a thrill ride girl for the most part, unless it's ToT.

I know I was excited the other night when Tabitha shared their trip purchases. I start making a list of possible souvenirs a year in advance (unless I can find them on DisneyStore.com and can get them for Christmas).

As I'm pulling the pins out to photograph them, I'm adding them to the lanyard. Now to figure out a good way to display all of these lanyards in the scrapbook room.

I love the how children are all over the map! One minute Morgan is all about the rides (can’t believe she didn’t like People Mover!), and then she’s excited over seen ducks. That’s adorable.
I'll have even more duck stories to come. She was so funny about them.

Back to the TR--This trip must be so hard for you, and you are handling the memories with such grace. You are an inspiration, Cam. Thanks again for allowing us to tag along.
Luke says what makes it thrilling is the centrifuge that spins you at a high rate of speed and you feel the g forces from that high speed spinning. In my head that translate to my body puking.
I am very glad to have everyone tagging along.

I shopping at MouseGears too. I know it must have been hard as you noticed all the things you know Stefanie would have wanted to buy.
I can't wait to see your purchases!
It was hard but it was also neat to remember her as I shopped.
I haven't been on MS in a long time, but I've only ever done the orange side...maybe that's why I haven't been back. Wish we would been able to see the Brave games, but it wasn't there when we went in May.
We thought Morgan might want to play, but even though we passed through several times on the trip, she never wanted to stop.

Luke always does the orange side. This was his first time trying the green side. He still thinks I'm better off staying far away from this ride.

We saw it after some rain and it still looked fine. Wonder what they do to it?
Morgan was never interested in the games even after several trips by it.

And just so you know, I find myself looking and picking things up for Stefanie when I am shopping too!!! I loved sending her Disney things! She was so fun to buy for!
Luke laughed at me for wanting to stop and get photos of our balconies. One night coming home on the Friendship Boat, I realized I'd left the light on on my nightstand because the curtain to our bedroom was open. I can't believe you didn't buy a single pin. I know of quite a few folks who have had to catch themselves when they picked something up for Stefanie. She loved how much people thought of her.
I had looked at the pin kiosk for a 2012 pin, but couldn’t decide. When Luke arrived, I thought I had found one, but when I discovered the camera strap right beside it was a 2012 with Tinker Bell. I knew that one was the one.
Sorry it’s blurry.
I had picked up a pink WDW t-shirt and put in my basket and then removed it. It was a small, but sizes can be so weird at Disney. I wanted Luke to help me decide on size. When he got there, I immediately took him to the shirt and it’s matching hoodie. I tried the small hoodie on and though it fit, but a CM came by and showed me where the fitting room. So I tried them both on and both fit. WooHoo!
It’s been too hot to even consider putting the hoodie on, but I’ve worn the tee often and you’ll see it later on me one day at the parks. Flip flops were on sale at 2 pairs for $20. I bought the pink with sunglasses pair above and Morgan got a pair (sorry no picture of hers). Stefanie and I had looked a Disney blog over the winter that showcased all the new flip flops. She was supposed to help me pick them out, but thank goodness we’d already pretty much decided so I knew what to get.
At this point Morgan announced that she wanted a Mickey ear hat, so we headed to the hat section.
Let the searching begin!
For a while these were her favorite ears.
She finally settled on a pair of Minnie Ears, just like a pair Stefanie had received from some PassPorters with her name monogramed on it and Morgan did not even know about this hat. We got her name monogramed on to hers as well. While we waited for it to be ready, I shopped a bit more. Morgan wouldn’t leave the hat section, so Luke stayed with her. No photo of the hat yet. But it will appear in the next update. I also picked out one of the frames I had seen the night before as I knew exactly what picture was going in it and where it would sit in my house.
This is one of my favorite pictures from last year, and has been sitting on our front hall table for many months in another easel style frame. There are two other pictures from last year’s trip on the same table with the old easel style frame, makes a wonderful montage of my girl. With a $40 purchase (which we were well above), you could purchase a pin starter set for $18.95. I asked Morgan if she’d like one, and of course, she said yes, though she never opened it on the trip. Stefanie would have had it out of the package before we left the store. We sat outside Mouse Gear in the shade, attempting to attach the new camera strap – unsuccessful. Morgan mentioned several times that she was hungry and it was 11:00 – 11:30. We were sitting where she could see into Electric Umbrella, so that became our lunch destination. Luke and I shared a 1/3 lb. bacon cheeseburger with fries and two drinks. Morgan had a 1/3lbs. bacon cheeseburger all by herself and also the fries and drink. She even finished eating hers before I had finished half of my half of a burger. When she finished, she wiped her mouth and announced that she’d just eaten a 3 lb. cheeseburger. Luke explained that if she had a 3 lb. burger it would have been 6x what she’d just eaten, but that what she had done was no less amazing. So cute!
3 lb. cheeseburger... that might just be Paradise!
I love that Morgan picked Stefanie's ear hat... hmmmmmmm...
And, of course, I love the picture! ... oh, and the frame, too, of course!
