A Hop, NO Skip, and Many Mishaps to a Disney Dream - Page 33 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

More great pictures! We didn't see ANY characters on our CC day! (Probably because it was raining when we got off the ship.) They are so cute in their beach outfits!
Sorry the camera was giving you problems, but you got more great pics! I haven't figured out the knack of getting into a hammock, so can sympathize with Claire!
It is tricky.

Wow! This is the first trip report I have read and it is incredible. I was just trying to get an idea of what a disney cruise was like as there are sailings out of NY for 2012 and we wouldn't have to purchase airfare. Your dd is adorable and your photos are awesome! Can't wait to read the rest.
I love the CC costumes. I think Mickey's outfit is my favorite of his outside of his formal tails and red pants!!
I don't think I saw him in tales on the ship, but I missed him during the dress up night.

Thanks so much for reading. I am glad you are enjoying. Are you doing the 8 night one to Nassau, CC and Port Caneveral. My friend who lives in NYC is doing that one as well.

We looked into that 8 night from NYC too. It is hugely expensive!! I couldn't believe it!! We are doing a 5 night from Port Canaveral and even with airfare it is cheaper than that 8 night - even the 7 night Caribbean from PC with air is cheaper. The thing I do like about that 8 night, tho, is they give transportation and a park hopper for a day in WDW.
Great seagull picture!! As many photograhpers say "Persistance pays off". Love the photo of the ship at dock displaying the yellow lifeboats, it catches your eye right away. You do have the gift for taking pictures. The Disney Dream is a beauty!! I can't wait for our Oct 2, 2011 Mexican Riviera Cruise on the Wonder.

Thanks. I had some beautiful subjects to work with though.
We got in the water and it was cold! I wasn’t going much further than my ankles!
It appears I have some sort of water blur on the lens of this camera as most are fuzzy on the one side……oh well, at least it was waterproof!
After a bit of playing, Claire and I went back to take some of her new found shells to our chair. Mom went back to the water with Claire for a few more minutes. We had planned to leave soon to get back to the Aqua Duck.
The back of my chair.
They weren’t in the water long and were back. I took a picture of my sandy feet.
Claire was intrigued by this and of course wanted one of hers too.
The decision was made to head back to the ship. I got out a paint brush I had brought and we all started brushing the sand off our feet to get clean and comfy for our shoes. Claire loved this. She then proceeded to get sandy again so she could brush off again, and then one more time…but this time she did her whole body. I wasn’t too happy with that, and I think we actually ran back to the water to get most of the sand off and then rebrushed her again.
We made our way off the beach. I took a quick shot of this flower.
We spotted Goofy, so since it was still just after 11, we decided to get in line for him. He was having a lot of fun.
While in line, I took a few random shots.
I was playing with different focus points here.
We were getting pretty close now. Goofy was playing with this boy’s towel and it was funny. But I only got 1 picture of it. My camera lens started going berserk again.
We were next. And my camera was still not cooperating. The only way I got it to work was with the flash…..which made for AWFUL pictures! Claire’s body practically disappeared from most of the pictures.

Wow, I cannot believe how packed that beach was! Although we were on a full sailing, when we walked back to the ship, we saw barely anyone. Do you have any idea roughly what time those shots were taken?
We weren't where you were, but over where one of the water playgrounds were. Wish I could remember exactly. Pretty sure we were past Cookies. It wasn't packed there. But we were one of the first ones off and were back on the ship by 12pm. The water was cold, but great once you got used to it. My kids said "this is saltly!" to which I laughed.

It was around 10-10:30ish or so, as we started back for the ship around 11 ish. This was the first beach area and it was pretty crowded, but I didn't want to go further at that time because I knew we wouldn't be thre too long.

Fabulous photos, even with the wonky lens.
We went to that beach area when we came back, it was much less crowded. Claire did make a comment about the water tasting gross too.
I found the water at CC to be a little cool, even in August! I've swum in much warmer water in Florida (but I guess that was on the gulf side, which must be warmer than the Atlantic side). Great pictures. I love the flower!

Wow - that is busy! I got similar photos around the same time and it was deserted then, as everyone was still on board.
