A Festival, Flowers, Friends, & The Fab Four - Adventures both old & new - UPDATED 4/25 - Page 33 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Still on Day 2 here folks. I haven’t been putting that in my posts….so this Day 2 part 5 million 6 hundred and 4. I know if feels that way doesn’t it??
Once we got back to our room from Epcot we sat around for a bit and quickly got bored even though we were kinda tired. We changed into some comfy attire (yoga pants and a tshirt for me) and decided to walk down to the pool area to see if maybe Kevin and Lori had gotten back from the MK and were at the pool with Audrey. We walked around but didn’t spot them. We stopped for a second to sit and take in the river view. It’s so pretty around here I think. I took some more pictures of the pool area… here’s the slide.
We started making our way back towards our room to start getting ready for our evening out even though they weren’t back yet. The plan was to go to MGM for a late dinner at 50’s. We figured since they weren’t back yet we’d do something while we were doing nothing (for all the Napoleon fans…. That’s been my saying for a while now.. Do SOMETHING while you’re doing NOTHING!). We were gonna go ahead and get ready and go on to MGM, DHS, whatever you wanna call it. On the way past the foodcourt we ran into them coming in. They stopped to have a smoke break…. So we sat and talked to them while they did. While we were chatting we saw this dad walking back towards the lobby with his little boy on his shoulders. All of a sudden the little boy just let some protein spill go, all over dad’s head and the ground in front of him. GROSS but hilarious all at once! Luckily I did not see it actually happen. Everyone else just busted out laughing.
Meanwhile, Andy and Audrey played…away from the protein spill marked section of the ground. I love these sequence of pictures
He just gets her all riled up She’d lay Dopey down to rest and Andy would go move him to up against the tree and it would just aggravate the snot out of her. We told them our plan of going on and getting ready to head out and Kevin was like “well I think we’re just gonna go and rest a minute and then go on ahead and go and we’ll meet you there”. I was like “WTF dude?” It takes us like 30 min. to get ourselves cleaned up to go out, you’re going to your room anyway…that’s kind of what we were saying to do. BIG FAT DUH!
Once we were all ready we caught a bus to MGM. Kevin told Andy that all they had really done at the MK was see a bit of the parade, had lunch at the castle, and saw the Country Bears show. He and Lori and also used our FPs we gave them for BTMRR and Splash. Now we left them at like noon….they didn’t get back till around 4:30 or so. Maybe even closer to 5. But whatever…. I asked Audrey about the show and asked her if she saw Liverlips and showed her my impression of him. To which I got her to do her Liverlips impersonation which was FREAKING hilarious I thought!
When we got to MGM we meandered down the main path and Kevin wanted to find somewhere to look for pins. He wanted to get a pin for each park. So we walked to the Hat to shop. I took a few pictures…
Obviously there was no riding the TOT or RnRC since it was so late and of course all the FPs were gone for the day. So we opted to go to the Animation Courtyard area. Kevin and Lori tried their hand at discovering what character they were.
Kevin was Tarzan….and he did a wonderful Tarzan yell for Andy’s video camera…and Lori was Belle. We all laughed at the story of Andy’s character quiz from our last July trip when Andy told the machine he liked to eat nice people for lunch and turned out to be Gaston. Our time for dinner was growing near so we made our way over towards 50’s. On the way of course they started freaking out for a smoke break. I think Kevin had to have one before the Animation Courtyard as well. So I told them there was one outside 50’s and they could wait till we got over there. On the way I couldn’t resist this photo setup.. I’m so glad he goes along with all this stupidity While they smoked all I could do to entertain myself was take pictures. I took a gazillion but I’ll only bore you with two..
Finally it was time for us to check in at 50’s. We had a little bit of a wait, but I don’t think it was more than 15 minutes. We sat in the “living room” and watched TV while we waited. Andy ordered a Heineken at the bar but after my liquor party earlier in the day I didn’t really want anything. Waiting to be called…. We had cousin Monica as our server and she was great. She immediately walked up to our table and called Andy and Kevin “Skippy and Scooter” and asked Kevin “Okay Scooter what did ya do with the 50 cents Poppy gave you to get your haircut?” Which was HI-LARIOUS b/c we’d been ragging on Kevin the whole trip about needing a haircut. Then she looked at Andy and said “And Skippy I see you’ve been in dad’s liquor cabinet” cause of the beer. After she got our drink orders she came back and Andy had his arm around me and she told him “take your hands off her, you don’t do that sort of thing in mama’s house” and I just looked at him and said something that went along with that to which she shot at me “okay Miss Tattle Tale in the corner” I was totally caught off guard cause it was the truth Then she noticed Andy’s tattoo and says “And I see you’ve been drawing on yourself again, too” Loved it!! She was great!
Audrey had one of the special drinks (non alcoholic of course….we’re not that bad of caretakers)….with the glowing tink..
Kevin ordered the meatloaf but was fussy b/c he didn’t like the way the green beans were fixed. We told him if he didn’t eat them all he might get in trouble. So he distracted Lori and dumped a big spoonful on her plate I was crying I was laughing so hard b/c she didn’t even notice.
Andy and I split the fried cheese, man I LOVE that stuff! And we split the tenderloin dish which was really good. We cleaned our plate (well Andy did most of the cleaning) so we totally go Clean Plate Club stickers I think that was the first time in my life I’ve been a part of that club. My mama would be so proud
Andy and Kevin (more Andy though) were determined to get in trouble. We were sitting right under the TV and he stood up trying to change the channel. When she came back Kevin told her to change it and Andy told her to put in a DVD. I can’t remember what she said but she totally snubbed them
Back to Kevin and his green bean saga… He took my bowl and covered his plate before Cousin Monica came back.
When she spotted it she got him. I told her that he had put some on Lori’s plate as well and then I called the tattle tale again So of course, Kevin was treated to the airplane and force fed his green beans
I guess we’ve never ordered dessert here before b/c I didn’t know about the viewfinder thingys…what are those things called????
I loved everyone looking through that thing
And here’s me all proud of my clean plate club
Kevin went with the huge mack daddy sundae..
And we shared the Smores…. Oh it was delicious!
After dinner Kevin and Lori of course had to take a smoke break. During dinner Audrey had started rubbing her eyes and being all whiny. I commented that she must be tired but they were like “Oh no, her eyes are just bothering her”….Give me a break. Any fool can tell when a child is tired…. But WHATEVER. And despite the fact she was dead tired, they decided while they were smoking that they were going to go over to Epcot for pm EMH…which only had an hour left anyway b/c it was almost 11. We were pooped and told them to have fun and we’d see them in the morning. When we got back to POFQ we hit the sack and watched some TV. Kevin called at like 12:30 to tell us they had ridden Nemo and had begun what I call “the complete misuse of the rider switch pass” saga. I was too pooped to care what they had done….It was 12:30 and I had a wake up call for 7 in the morning… let me sleep!
Finally caught up! As usual you guys are just cracking me up! Oh and Andy must be just about the sweetest DH to send that beautiful Easter basket, even though you write about his "rooster" and other such things .
I'm sorry your having to deal with all the cigarette breaks, doesn't sound like fun waiting around on them all the time. I hope poor little Audry isn't kept up that late everynight, did she get any nap at all that day? Sheesh, it makes me mad just thinking about it!

Great update. Sorry about all the smoke breaks and I feel so bad for poor little Audrey - amazing how clueless some people can be when it comes to kids. Sounds like you are hanging in so far. Looking forward to more updates.

Well, I hope there is a time during this trip that you finally say - DO YOUR OWN THING ALREADY WE ARE SICK OF WAITING AROUND FOR YOU. LOL. It's great that Audrey is waiting until 11pm to finally get cranky, although obviously, that is not good for a 2 year old.
Fantastic update, Melissa. Guess that boy had too much excitement for the day (either that, or maybe Dad was bouncing him too much on his shoulders when he walked?) Sounds like you had a fun dinner at 50s PTC and a pretty good server.
I hope your day at AK was a little more coordinated than Day2 was.
Another great update Melissa! Sounds like you got a good waitress at Prime Time and enjoyed all her antics. The smoking breaks would have really worn me down on this trip.

More!
What was in the view finders, pics of the desserts? And I LOVE the tink straw. Is that everywhere? I am so lovin' your TR and it is killing me because I want to be on the plane already! Everytime I see an update listed, I'm guaranteed to be smiling! Thanks for it all -- keep it coming!
Great update, Melissa! And your pictures are fantastic. Love the Audrey as Liver Lips one. Kevin should be glad he finally ate those green beans. I've seen people get them served for dessert - with whipped cream and sprinkles on top.
