As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). I agree that you don't need a detailed touring plan. We were in the parks for 5 days and we did everything we wanted to do, most of them multiple times. I agree with Holly that it's easy because everything is so close.

I would agree that detailed plans aren't needed, with the very large exception of Radiator Springs Racers. You can rope drop it and then pick up a FP for later in the day. I'm not sure of the Anna and Else M&G status at this point. This used to be a rush FP situation as well.
I'm already feeling more relaxed about our non-plans. Luke has already said we'll head to Radiator Springs Racers as soon as we get in the park. We won't be disappointed if we don't get to meet Anna and Elsa, but if it works out with a reasonable wait, we'd see them.

My brother and his family were there in May. They had no plans, but road rides 2 times in a row and did meet and have photos with the Rock who was at the Chinese Theater for his new movie. So anything is possible in Disneyland.
Some of my Disney men's lounge pants are starting to get thread bare because they are so comfy to wear, especially on lazy Sundays. How cool hat your brother got to meet the Rock.

WooHoo is so much better, isn't? June's phone has a weird way of calling me. It can be sitting on her kitchen counter and the next thing she knows it's called me. She jokes that it knows when we need to talk. She was sitting at her kitchen table with Morgan two nights ago and it started calling me, but she hung up. I wanted to be sure both Daddy and June were okay so I called back. She had her voice back, but it had only just come back, and Daddy was out, so evidently he is fine.

I have to admit I haven't been able to read through the whole report but I just had to chime in. We tend to go to WDW because it is a shorter drive but I LOVE my time at DLR and you will too! Halloween is particularly spectacular there. There is something about fall and feeling cozy that makes DLR the perfect resort to celebrate Halloween at. Fight the temptation to compare and just love it for what it is. We also have been really impressed with the quality of the quick service food in DLR particularly in the theme parks. My husband and I are having an extended "date" this fall at Disneyland and I cannot wait!
Thanks for all the advice. I keep telling myself that DLR is its own place and I hope to appreciate it for just that. I can't imagine not being happy to be there since I have wanted to go since I was 6 or so.

The restaurant opens later this month, so I'm hoping some PPers eat here, so I'll know if we should add it to our list for May.
Yesterday was a full and busy day. Task #1 was a four+ mile walk on a shaded area of our greenbelt. While walking, made a decision. We have finally given up on Luke’s car keys ever reappearing because we honestly believe we’ve checked every inch of the house, garage, and yard. That meant a trip to Evansville about 45 to 50 minutes away. We started the trip on the four-lane parkway, but hardly a mile in, we noticed traffic stopped and a police car up ahead. We were close to a legal U-turn lane and after watching a goodly number of cars and semis turn around, we decided to follow suit. It’s a good thing we did as the road was covered heading west for miles in 1-inch slivers of metal that were puncturing tires. We headed back to the two-lane highway that would take us where we needed to go, but traffic moves slower on it as it becomes quite winding and narrow.
Finally, we arrived at the Volvo dealership in Evansville, and ordered a key and fob after showing proof that we actually own he car. The key will be delivered to the dealership and they will cut the key before mailing it to us. We have to have the key in order to get the car out of park and on to Luke’s brother’s car hauler. Once we have the key we can set up an appointment for the software to mate the key and fob to Luke’s car. The ordering of the key didn’t take too long, but because of the road delay it was now 1:00 PM and I was starving. We didn’t want anything big so we stopped at Wendy’s.
From Wendy’s we went to the mall as I wanted to check out the new fall scents at Bath & Body plus I had a 20% off coupon and another for a free travel-size. We ended up with four hand soaps and four wallflowers. We’re often teased because besides the wallflower in the house, we have one in the garage. But garages get stinky. I couldn’t pass up a chance to head into the Victoria’s Secret, too, as I again had really good coupons to go with their Labor Day sale.
Our next destination was the Banana Republic Factory Outlet Store where the entire store was 50 – 70% off, and I had an email code for an additional 20% off. What I wanted was a pair of boyfriend straight leg jeans. I found them quickly tried them on. Perfect! Luke also picked out two really cool t-shirts. In addition, I used a $10 reward certificate to help pay for the jeans. Our last stop was nearby, Dick’s Sporting Goods. I’ve been searching for a water bottle holder for when we walk. We freeze some water that we take with us. My arthritic hands cannot tolerate cold well. So I’ve been wrapping my bottle in a washcloth, but it is awkward to carry. In Dick’s I found several holders complete with a bottle and a pocket for a cell phone. Most wouldn’t hold my phone so that was not helpful. But I was appalled by the prices from $25 – 35. I have found one called a NeoSling on Amazon for $11.99, sort of a crossbody neoprene bottle holder. But I haven’t wanted to pay the shipping.
We made it home with about an hour and a half to rest a bit before our next adventure. One of our great nieces celebrated her third birthday last night, and we were invited to the party. Luke and I are not big partiers, but we love family gatherings. My niece Brittany is the only child of Luke’s younger sister Andrea, and she and Stefanie always thought and referred to each other as sisters. In fact, Stefanie was Aunt Stefanie to Brittany’s oldest child, Abram. We enjoyed pizza and Mamaw’s chocolate chip cookies plus a little cake. I did take my camera as though Brittany takes her own she loves the ones I get, too. We didn’t leave there until around 8:00 PM. Luke was wanting to get home as our alma mater, Western Kentucky University, was playing their opening football game at Vanderbilt and the SEC network was carrying the game. By the way, WKU beat Vandy by two points by holding off a two point conversion to tie the game. I was pacing the floor at the end.
So all of that is to say, I didn’t do any Disneyland planning or stuff yesterday unless the travel sized shower gel and the jeans count since I’m taking them to California.
Not much on the Disneyland front today either. The Disney Parks Blog seems to have at least one or two entries each day dealing with Disneyland. The first article I noticed today was about the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail at DCA. It looks like a fun way to get some walking in. The next blog about Disneyland about a new Jungle Cruise Safari Breakfast Experience. PassPorter Tricia even sent me a message about it. If you want to learn more about it, here is the blog. Disney Parks Blog - The official blog for Disneyland Resort, Walt Disney World and Disney Cruise Line. I did a little further investigating on the Disneyland website, discovering that the only dates showing up in October were the 1st and several days the last week of that month. But the really clincher on why we are NOT even considering this is the cost. $300 per guest! I can’t imagine any breakfast that would be worth look and I spending $600. When I first mentioned it to him, we thought it might be similarly priced as some Tables in Wonderland events that are set inside attractions. Most of these are in the $100 to $150 range per guest, and we have considered them as most are very delicious sounding 4 or 5 course meals. I still can’t get over $300 for breakfast inside the Jungle Cruise even if it does come with a tribal mask.

I enjoy all our electronic stuff, even in our cars, but boy do they create a whole new set of problems when they quick working or get lost. I told Luke that breakfast must be for the celebrity crowd, not us.

The key replacement situation is just crazy! I haven't had a car since 1994 and things have sure changed! That Jungle cruise breakfast price is WAY too high! I'm not sure I even understand the appeal of this. They set up breakfast somewhere in the attraction, then you get to drive the boat? For $300?
WOW!! That's got to be one heck of a breakfast!! I understand why you chose to skip that one. Love to bargain shop, as does my daughter. We are constantly texting each other when we strike it rich with a good deal.
OK, the Redwood Challenge Trail is pretty cool, and it's a bit bigger than the Bonyard at AK. It's basically the same thing though, a giant play area. With some trails around it. But don't think this is anything like walking trails around Ft. Wilderness or anything.
That said, thematically it kick's the boneyard's behind. I'm looking forward to spending lots of time here with my son. but it might not be what that video suggests. (I did watch it, it was nicely made but somewhat misleading).
For walking, I highly recommend an evening stroll from GC over to the DL hotel, around Tangaroa Terrace, T. Sam's and the DL hotel pools. It's a great walk, it's connected to DTD, and, yeah, beautiful. Esp. after dark.
That said, we all know you are going to get your steps in!
That car fob thing sounds like a nightmare! I am glad you were able to make some good purchases. $300 per person for a breakfast is crazy. That tour I talked myself out of was that much and I thought it was worth every penny.
