Jared's Wish Upon A Star Pop Century Trip 8/14-8/24 - Updated 6/30 - Page 32 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

What a great day at DTD. I always find the buses to go to DTD are the slowest, on our last trip I think we waited almost 45 minutes for a bus. Looks like you had a great time. I had picked up my mother a teapot with two little teacups with Alice and Wonderland (not sure if it is the same one you saw) I got it over at the Tea Shop in Epcot (in England) - you might want to check out there as well on your July trip. Can't wait to hear more.

I have read your post from the beginning and am enjoying it alot. We are taking our first trip in the beginning of June and the excitement is building. Your dialogue has answered alot of my questions.
Terrific update! I'm glad your family enjoyed Downtown Disney. We always have such a good time there, doing major damage in WOD and the Christmas Shop. (I tend to get lost in the Christmas Shop... I just love it!) Also, those pretzals look yummy. I think I may have to try those next trip. Come back with more soon!

I hope we have better luck with transportation to DTD since we will be at SSR. It is probably the same teapot, however the teacups were seperate. I will try to post a picture later.

Thank you. I love DTD. It's a nice break from the parks. I didn't spend much time at the Christmas Shop, but I plan to this year. You should definitely try the pretzels. They are delicious. I can't wait to try the make your own marshmallows in July. They look great too.

Thanks. I will try to post a picture when DH gets home so he can help me. I am a bit technically challenged.

Aidan was fast asleep in his stroller and Tropical Storm Fay had joined us on our trip not to worry we had our trusy Mickey ponchos with us.
It started raining as we were headed towards the Lego store and I don’t remember it ever stopping after that for the rest of our trip okay maybe for a bit, but not much sunshine after that
Will and Jared did not want to go in the Lego store which is probably a good thing because I would’ve never been able to get DH out of there. Instead, they played outside the Lego store for a while.
When they got tired of playing with Legos, we decided it was time to catch a bus to the Polynesian resort for our dinner ADR at ‘Ohana.
When we arrived at the Poly, we had no idea where we were. We had only been there once before for breakfast last year and we had taken a cab. We walked from the bus stop through the gardens and eventually found the resort.
walking through the Poly
Once we checked in at ‘Ohana, we were given a pager. We waited about 15 minutes until our server, Cousin Mike, came and got us.

Cousin Mike showed us where to park our stroller and led us to our table.
We did not sit in the main dining room as we did last year. We sat in a little section closer to the check in podium. We didn’t really mind except we had to keep getting up and walking over to the main dining room during the entertainment.
We really enjoyed our dinner here. I am not a big meat eater, but still ate plenty. DH had a blast eating. He kept asking for more of everything. The only big complain I have about the food is that the boys did not really eat much and Cousin Mike didn’t offer them anything else. I’ve heard of other children getting chicken fingers and more kid friendly food. I guess next time I will just have to ask.
Here are some food pics. I didn't really get many, but will take pictures of all our food on our next trip.
'Ohana Welcome Bread- this was delicious. I could've eaten that and dessert alone and been a happy girl.
We also got mixed greens with a honey-lime dressing
Pork Dumplings topped with a Pineapple Sweet and Sour Sauce. Yummmmmmm.
Honey-Coriander Chicken Wings.
We also got Noodles,
Asian Barbecued Pork Loin
Spicy Grilled Peel - n - Eat Shrimp
Marinated Sirloin Steak
Mesquite Grilled Turkey
Everything was good except we did not like the Turkey. It was just very dry.
During dinner an entertainer came out playing the ukulele. We really enjoyed him. He was very good.
Then he invited anyone who was celebrating an anniversary to come up on the dance floor with him. DH and I were hesitant to go up since we did not want to leave the boys alone at our table too far from the dance floor but Cousin Mike told us to bring the boys up with us.
I believe there were two other couples up there with us. We had to say how many years we were married and then he played a song for us while we danced.
It was really sweet, but the sweetest part was when I turned around to find my sons hugging each other and “slow dancing” with us. It was so cute and I wish I had a picture of them. Needless to say, I had tears in my eyes after that. They were definitely the center of attention during that dance.
More entertainment:
Coconut Races
the coconut is bigger than him
A Parade around the restaurant complete with maracas:
We had a blast! The only problem was that while we were busy having fun, dessert had been served and was completely melted. I’d been waiting all night for this. What’s a girl to do? So I did the only thing I could and quickly gobbled it up. Then I asked for another one.
At our table, dessert was almost as fun as the entertainment.

Dessert was soooooooooooo delicious. I can’t say enough about this.
Overall, we really liked dinner at ‘Ohana we still like breakfast better though. Dessert was amazing and we will definitely be back.
After dinner we were starting to get tired, but Jared was not having it. He just wanted to keep on going. After taking a few pictures in the lobby of the Poly, we headed towards Magic Kingdom.

Up Next: Magic Kingdom and Will Jared Ever Get Tired?.........
Your dinner at Ohana sounds wonderful. Too bad about the rain. We are headed there about this year about the same time you went last year. I'll be praying for no hurricanes to interfere with our plans. Great update!
