Southern Fried in Mickey's World Updated 12/31 - Page 32 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

When the seminar finished, our first FastPass was already ripe. We headed straight to Test Track. We didn’t have long to wait as we walked through the FastPass queue directly to the door for the pre-show portion of this attraction. We waited there the length of a pre-show and then we were inside with Luke designing our ride vehicle while I snapped a few photos of his progress.
Soon enough we were boarding our car and zooming around the course.
Afterwards, we both needed the restrooms, so we headed over to the ones in the Odyssey with the plan to then enter the World Showcase for a bit of food sampling. When I came out of the restroom, I was fascinated by the view across the water, especially the blueness of the sky.
When Luke asked what I wanted to try first, we ended up heading back into Future World. I wanted that croissant doughnut tossed in cinnamon with chocolate gelato from Taste Track that hadn’t been available on our other Epcot day as we were too early for the booth to be open. It was warm again today, so we got two drinks as well. We found a shady spot near Test Track to sit while sharing this sweet treat.
By the time we finished, we were within our window for our next FastPass, Mission: Space. Coming back to Future World had been a good idea. We rode together first doing the green side, which is definitely a favorite for me now. Then Luke rode a second time, doing the orange side. While I was waiting Linda and I were texting back and forth, and planned to meet up in Morocco.
Once Luke had returned we took a Friendship Boat to Morocco. When we disembarked, I made another food booth stop. This time at Belgium for one of my favorites, a Belgian Waffle with Warm Chocolate Ganache and whipped cream. I took my treat over to Tangierine Café where we found Linda and Pete at a shady table. Luke went inside and got a Coke for himself and a Fanta Orange for me. It was very nice to sit while chatting and eating.
Linda noticed the time, and that we could make the next set for the Voices of Liberty. A short walk later we had entered the American Pavilion, taking seats on the floor, a row back from where the singers would be standing. Cool! There are a few photos as proof, too.
As we were walking out of the show, June called, and I knew I needed to call right back. We said good bye for this trip to Linda and Pete. June and I talked as Luke and I made our way out of the park. She always loves to hear what we’ve been up to while at WDW, so I text her frequently during our trips.
We headed back to Kidani where I had us walk downstairs to check out the tiles in restrooms outside Sanaa. I was excited to see that the acacia tree tiles we have in our newly redone bathroom were also in here. I also thought I took a photo of these, but I don’t have one now. We then walked outside to the overlook area so I could get a few animal photos. The only fellows currently out were two zebras, but I like the photos I got of them.
While watching the zebras, we decided to go to The Mara for supper. I really needed to eat something that wasn’t loaded with sugar. Not my healthiest eating today at the Food & Wine Festival. Instead of walking there, we caught a bus to Jambo House. We admired the lobby for a moment before heading downstairs and then outside to enter The Mara. I selected a chicken flatbread and Luke got a turkey sandwich. It was rather peaceful in here tonight. June even called back, having forgotten something she needed to ask me. Before leaving Jambo House, I asked to return to Zawadi and get the Jambo House hoodie I had seen the previous night. It is one of the items that I think will sell out before we return in December 2019.
We walked back to Kidani where we rested and even packed a bit more before going to bed.

Sadly, this is now my last trip report update on PassPorter. The report will continue on my Facebook page Cam and Luke's Adventures -- Trip Reports. Soon I'll be adding pre-trip report updates for our May Aulani/Hawaii/Disneyland trip. I hope many of you will continue to follow along. Whether you do or not, please, know that you have been greatly appreciated over the years as I wrote up my family's journeys to our happy place. Your comments have always been encouraging and supportive, keeping me writing at this sometime daunting task of recounting our days. You all are friends and family now. Let's keep in touch or the closing of these forums will not only be sad, but it will be tragic. I'm going to miss meeting up with you guys here every day. you all!
So beautifully put about staying in touch and you know I will be. If you need any help with plans for Aulani, then just shout, given we're preparing for our trip in March. My pre-trip report will be a while though, given I have one other on the go and have just started another one tonight.
Thank you so much for all the wonderful trip reports you've posted over the years Cam, it's been a joy to read them.

Thank you so much!
I've been checking out everything Colleen has been posting on Facebook about their Aulani trip this past week. Luke and I are finally in the mood to get some definite plans lined up.

Your Fess Parker wine seminar sounds really interesting! I am definitely going to do a wine seminar if I’m ever there for F&WF!
So sad to be reading all of these “last posts”! I am going to miss Passporter so much! Thank you so much for all of your wonderful trip reports, and I certainly look forward to many more on Facebook!

I really hope you can get to WDW sometime during the F&WF, and the little beverage seminars are such a great deal.
Thanks for reading along on all my trip reports! You all have made writing them so worth the time.
Very nice update and so sad it's your last on PP but will continue to follow it and your further adventures over on FB!
Nice time in Epcot with some eats and good attractions. After a busy day, perhaps the Mara was a good idea as much more casual!

Thank you Cam ! This is my official last response at Passporter’s forums. I think it is appropriate because I think over the years the one thing I always have done is read your PTR and TR’s. I am thankful to still be following them on your FB page. Thank you for all your reports. They always have made being away from Disney easier. I have learned a lot of Disney tips from you. Your pictures are stories are always amazing. Have a Happy New Year.

I will definitely stay in touch on PDL!

I'm so glad you will still be following along on FB. I have enjoyed very much sharing about our trips, and I am so thankful that so many of you enjoyed following along.
It was so wonderful to get the chance to spend time together at Epcot this day. Pete and I really enjoy taking those little refreshment breaks at the parks! So great that we had the chance to share in VOL together!
I will miss these boards more than words can say Cam! It's been such a part of my life for the last 15 years. I'm so grateful to Jennifer and all you moderators who kept these forums running like a well oiled machine all these years. Thank you for all the hard work it took to do that! Let's make a point to staying in touch via text messaging, Facebook and PDL. Thanks for the memories you all.
