We're going to WDW! Adventures of a Mom & Toddler Trip, PTR - Page 31 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

It sounds like you've got all the balls up in the air Becki!
Thank you so much for joining us Heather! I certainly can't wait to read about your 30th Birthday in the world. How awesome your birthday is in July, as that has become my favorite month since my little guy's Birthday is also in July! I hope everythin. Is getting back to normal for you and I am so sorry to hrear about your home getting brroken ito and valuables going missing. Pixies for you and Brandon both. We missed you on the boards.
Heather, we were actually going to be back in New Orleans in a couple of years, and Erick actually thinks it will be for Mardi Gra. And possibly my Birthday (it would be so nice to meet up with you when we're there). I know Mardi Gras is crazy, but hopefully November is more quiet (except for Saints Football-woohoo).
Becki - So glad you were able to get some great flights. I love the idea of your Disney party, everything sounded delicious and what great menu choices. Hope you have a great time at Dinosaur Land

Thank you so much. I was so happy with the flights as they don't take away too
much from Erick's work schedule or my mom's. Our Party was so much fun and actually enjoyed every second of cooking and enjoying the day, despite the weather outside. I can't wait for Dinosaur Land. If I haven't mentioned this in Elementary School, I had a science teacher who was mean, but I loved when she taught us about Dinosaurs, and they certainly had my interest in her class. I may actually be looking more foward to Dinosaur Land than Skyler and can't wait to meet Mr. Brontosorus (my favorite of the Dinosaurs).
I actually made up a list last night of what Disney Movies we own, an which ones to help prep for the trip we need to rent. I never realized I had that many Disney Movies.
We own a ton of them too, the only problem is most of them are on VHS!!! I collected all of them when I was younger so when I had a child, they could watch them. This was before DVD players were even a thought. I had to get my old VCR out of the attic and hook it up just so she could watch one of them, and the quality of the picture is horrible.
I wish I could figure out how to record them onto a DVD, but I heard it's hard to do that with Disney movies because of the copyright laws. Now I guess I have to buy each one on DVD...more money down the drain!
Melissa, a lot of ours were on VHS too and I actually have to hook up my old teeny tiny tv with a built in VCR to watch them (especially Beauty and the Beast since it won't be out on DVD/Blu Ray until this Fall like around my Birthday time). We collected them on VHS for so long and once DVD took over we started collecting them that way. We just recently added Oliver & Company & Monsters Inc. to our collection. I have to agree the quality is horrible. Some of my sister's & my Disney Movies our brother took over (like Mulan, Tarzan, & Lilo & Stitch), so those ones neither of us have anymore. Erick actually laughs because my taste of movies are Disney Movies and his are Horror Movies (which I won't watch, not eveen in broad daylight with the light shining in).
My DMil brought up a good point to TS3 though from the previews. The scene in the day care where the kid sticks Mr. Potato Head'sbeye up his nose might give the little ones a bad idea (I hope Skyler doesn't copy that as he now has 2 Mr. Potato Heads). The thought of that just reminds me of my brother sticking a popcorn kernal up his nose when he was Skyler's age and it took 3 Doctors Offices to get it out (a normal doc couldn't do it, thr ER couldn't do it, and finally a Nose, Ear, & Throat Specialist did it). Scary stuff you ask
me.
I am going to start a mini PTR/TR for our weekend getaway to Dinosaur Land and link it to this PTR, just to keep thm separate. The next 3 weekends are going to be quite busy around the Ortiz Home with Father's Day Weekend (wishing all of my Passporter Dad Friends and all the Dads a Happy Father's Day). We aren't sure what's goimg on yet for Father's Day since Erick isn't sure if he is working Sunday or not, and DFil is Reforeeing Soccer Games throughout the day. Since I know I probably won't be up in time to cook DFil Breakfast from us, I may see about cookingg dinner again for Erick and Miguel for Father's Day. I have found a recipe to try that are Grilled Chicken Kebobs that have strawberries and pineapples on them and have a marinade/glaze of margarine(which we use Smart Balance which is a little more heart healthy),
cinnamon & nutmeg. They sound perfect for the summer time.
Next weekend wehead off for our weekend at Dinosaur Land, which I still need toget my suitcase out of the trunk when Erick gets home from work, so I can start packing. Next weekend is officially Skyler's last full weekend as a 2 year old, so the weekend away seems very fitting.
It doesn't feel like 4th of July Weekend is only 2 short weeks away, as that weeknd we will be celebrating Skyler that Saturday. We have family coming in from the Virginia Beach Area and Lexington, KY that weeeknd (although we know we will probably be missing one of Skyler's uncles as he will be spending the day with his family and celebrating his sister's birthday which is the same day as Skyler's). It will be a full house here, but fun nonetheless.
I will share some pictures from Skyler's Birthday with everyone when that weekend hits, but off to start a new PTR for our trip next weekend.
Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and Happy Father's Day!
Here is our PTR for Dinosaur Land. I'm sorry everyone I will clean up all thr typos and make it look a lot neater once I can jump on the computer when Skyler is a sleep. http://www.passporterboards.com/foru...ml#post3319769.
I hope all the Dads had a wonderful Father's Day. Skyler & I tried to plan a relaxing day for Erick of what he wanted to do, and I felt so bad for him that at the end it kind of got ruined. Erick surprised me last night coming home from work around 10:30-11pm (he started at noon, and had told me he was working until 3 am again). He told me if they asked him to come in on Father's Day, he wasn't going in, and he wasn't scheduled. I was so proud of him for taking that day off as I knew he needed some rest.
We spent the day sleeping in, and he was surprisingly the first one up of the 3 of us, followed by Skyler, then me (he even let me sleep longer than when Skyler woke up and played with Skyler). I pretty much left Skyler kind of in Erick's hands yesterday, not that I wanted time to myself, but it was Father's Day after all, and felt Skyler and Erick needed some Father-Son time that they don't get. I even told Erick lunch got to be his choice, which was Subway (although I went to Quiznos for myself). We did have a sick Skyler as he doesn't know when to stop eating, and wanted to eat his whole 4" turkey sandwich I got him (in a couple settings) and all of his apples, and got a tad bit sick. The only thing on his to-do list was watch the Brazil Soccer game of the World Cup, which I missed a few minutes of getting lunch, but the 3 of us watched it together. The only other thing Erick wanted to do was watch some movies we rented, but this part will come in a little bit.
I tried cooking us dinner, but needed Erick's help, as some of the chicken breasts were sticking to the grill. He decided to take over the grill and cook the rest of the BBQ Chicken Breasts (we couldn't find grill toppers to cook those Chicken Kebabs with Grilled Strawberries, and Grilled Pineapples. Those will have to wait a little bit longer to make). I wasn't expecting Erick to lift a finger cooking dinnner, but I was thankful he did help me as the first few chicken breasts couldn't be cut through. I didn't want DFil or Erick to feel it was up to them to have to cook on Father's Day, and their only job from me was to play with Skyler, which happened after Erick helped me with the Chicken. Luckily dinner was done just a few minutes before DMil walked in the door from work at 7:30pm.
I can't remember what movie Erick asked me to rent besides To Paris With Love, and Old Dogs, but when we tried to put Old Dogs on, our Blu-Ray Player shut off right on us. We just bought it in the beginning of April and haven't had it very long. This was what ruined Father's Day for Erick as he was hoping to watch a great Father's Day type movie, and we weren't able to do that. Erick is frusterated about the fact the player won't work, so we have a feeling Tuesday when he gets home from work, we will be going back to Best Buy to return the whole Blu-Ray Entertainment System I bought (the speakers work great, and we bought one we could hook Erick's iPod, & our iPhones into and be able to listen to music as well from our phones). Hopefully we can get our money back for the whole system, as this isn't our fault it's not working and we haven't owned it that long.
I felt so bad I didn't plan anything really exciting for Erick for Father's Day, but I'm pretty sure he appreciated us letting him relax, and have a day with Skyler, and nothing planned. I also felt bad that Erick's gift is coming late, but I have to order it, and he only sent me a text message from work with the link on Thursday or Friday, showing me some Saints Super Bowl Champions Glasses and a Money Clip he loved from Tiffany and Co. I did tell him that since he is sending Skyler & I to Disney, he most certainly deserved them for Father's Day (and he was shocked when I told him he would have something from there before I did, since he's really not into the fancy kind of things).
I am still waiting on Skyler's Autograph Book to arrive (via USPS) as I have got an e-mail that it had been shipped. Luckily I was smart in ordering it since I had 20 free pictures, plus shipping from Snapfish and ordered a 4x6 print of each page, just incase it didn't show up or it was too big to carry, I had a back up. Those came and are in a brag book photo album. I may actually just order the prints for the Halloween autograph pages and use the other brag book, and the rest of the one from Skyler's Character Meal Autograph Book. He is still getting one Disney one for regular characters in the parks.
I have just figured out how small my new rolling duffle is (I hope I can fit everything into it, if not I may need to borrow or buy another suitcase or ship some things down to Disney). I still need to upload those pictures and re-size them on Photobucket from our Disney Day. I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend.

Thankyou Kelly. I felt so bad for Erick when he felt like throwing our Blu-Ray player through a window or something and his anger came out. At least the other movies he could bring to work and watch during some down time. Erick was even telling me to report the manufacturer to the Better Business Bureau. You are right though the most important part was he got to spend time with Skyler and his family, and the only kid of his parents to spend Father's Day with his Dad (since his sister and brother couldn't be here). He did also get to have a Lazy Day for Father's Day, which is just what he needed! We'll just have to watch Old Dogs another time.
Sorry Father's Day wasn't all you had hoped it would be. I'm so impatient when it comes to technology and things not working right, so I understand his frustration. But just like Kelly said, the most important thing was that he got to spend it with his family.
Thank you so much for joining us Heather! I certainly can't wait to read about your 30th Birthday in the world.

That would be fun! I love having visitors! November is usually pretty busy with conventions and football games--but much less crazy than coming for Mardi Gras. If people want to come for a visit around that time I usually advise the first weekend of Mardi Gras as its a lot more family oriented!
