Where are the kids? At home with their Dads! TR April 13-19, 2010 - Page 31 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Great updates ladies! Sounds like so much fun. I just came back from a Women's retreat with my church (first time ever away from my kids even for 1 night) and got to experience first hand how much fun it is to get away with great girlfriends. I can't wait to go to Disney with one someday. More please.

i think ginger has a slave driver at work and so she can't complete her trip report there ...she has to do it at home.......he he he (no speakie)
LOL! No Speakie! I love ya Sheri!
It has been so busy at work this week. Hang in there everyone and we'll keep it going I promise. I haven't left a TR unfinished yet and this ain't gonna be the first one!
We headed back to WS with plans to eat some lunch. Looking back I wish we would have eaten somewhere in WS for sure. Anyway, Heather and I just took our time roaming around and taking lots of pictures of the topiaries. It was really quiet back there that day. It was nice!
We did get a chance to meet Princess Aurora. Who was very sweet.
She asked if my prince charming had got my necklace for me. In fact he had
I'm not sure how many Flower and Garden pics you all want to see. So I am just going to post a few as I'm sure by now you have seen many.
I really liked Aladdin!
We asked a nice lady to get a pic of us together! Thanks lady
Heather
Me
No kidding it felt like we were in a race to get around the WS! LOL! Before you know it Heather was treating me to some drinks at Club Cool! Thanks girlfriend!
Then we headed back over to the Land and decided to eat at Sunshine Seasons. Let me just tell you it was really busy in there. I stood in line for awhile waiting for my lunch.
Mongolian Beef with noodles and vegetables
Dessert-Creme Brulee of course!
For you Coke Zero fans: They have Coke Zero at the fountain here which was HUGE for me since I think it should be anywhere that sells Coke and Diet Coke.
I'm just going to say that my lunch was very good while I was eating it. However, later that day my stomach was so . I kept burping it up and it was soooo gross! So that's why friends don't let friends eat the Mongolian Beef.
After lunch we headed over to spaceship earth
Then we headed back to OKW for an afternoon at the pool. Yeah we did that much and it's only afternoon! There is still ALOT of day two to go my friends!
Back at the ranch... We headed to the pool and it was nice to relax. However it was around 3pm and time for the pool party. I wish I would have participated b/c it sounded like lots of fun. I know for sure that my Isabelle would have been up there dancing for sure! But my stomach was telling me to lay down and chill out. I did get up just long enough to take a few pictures at the pool.
got one of the boat going by too
It was such a beautiful day! After awhile at the pool we headed back to the room to get ready for some EMH at Animal Kingdom. Unfortunately, I still had a stomachache (darn mongolian beef!)
UP NEXT: Heading into the AK when it looks like everyone else is headed out!

We hopped on a bus to Animal Kingdom. When we got there it was so funny because masses of people were leaving. Where are ya'all going? The fun is just getting started now that we're here! LOL!
We headed back to EE. I couldn't believe that I was getting on this ride especially since I already felt like I was going to puke.
We got in the single rider line and it didn't take long before we were swapping seats with some guy so we could ride together Mind you I have not been on this ride for A LONG time. My kids will not ride it so I think it's been around 3-4 years since I've come face to face with the Yeti. Started off I was doing okay. Then once the whole backwards thing happened I seriously thought I was going to puke for sure! I know Heather was worried about me.
This is how I felt when I got of the ride
So you already feel like throwing up...go get a yak attack! I think alot of this had to do with not drinking nearly enough on a hot day. So I was trying to remedy that
Honestly I thought the Yak Attack helped a little. We decided to head over to AKL for our ADR at Boma. This was a first for me and Heather. I was excited for our dinner, but my stomach was not. I really started feeling awful. We hopped on a bus (one of the few times we had to stand). First stop was Kidani Village, then on to Jambo. We got off there and explored a bit. What a beautiful resort!
Fire pit
AKL
Heather got the brillant idea to see if they could take us early. And guess what! They couldI was so happy but worried that I would not be able to enjoy. I had a big glass of water and started slow. I started with a ginger/carrot soup. It was heaven in a bowl. SO delish! Really everything I tried was very good. Of course the desserts were to die for. Very good variety. Honestly, I felt quite a bit better by the end of the meal. My advice: keep hydrated and avoid the mongolian beef Sadly, I have no pics of our meal. I guess I wasn't in the picture taking mood. I am pretty sure Heather got a few pics and will share with us.
After dinner we headed up to the lobby. Heather chilled and listened to the drummers while I made a quick call home to say hello to my kiddos.
Then I had to get some tooth looking necklace thing for my hubby. They had it in the gift shop. The next dilemma was how are we going to get home? We would have to take a bus to DD and then to OKW. Well, you know my luck with disney transportation right? Well, we made the excellent decision to hop in a taxi. We were home in 10 minutes! Well worth it to me for sure! Before you know it we had our jammies on and we were snoozing!
Overall I had the BEST DAY EVAH! I loved hanging out with my BFF and it was a perfect day. Well, it would have been better without the stomachache but whats a girl to do? I loved seeing everything at the flower and garden festival and Boma was sooooo gooood!

Great update Ginger. Sorry you felt so bad. We ate at Boma on our first trip. It was ok, but the zebra domes were the best. I could have eaten just those the whole day.
What a great day (minus the mongolain beef stomach ache). The pool at OKW looked beautiful, a co-worker of mine has points there and he keeps offering to rent some to me, I definitely think that an OKW trip needs to be planned. Glad that you started to feel a little better at dinner so that you could enjoy a great meal. I love the food there, and it has never dissappointed. Hope that there was no left over "mongolian beef stomach"when you woke up the next day.
