As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I do Fantasmic though I've only been able to see it a few times! I am trying to save up for a camcorder this year because I'm dying like you to have video of a few of my fav disney things Sounds like you guys had a nice leisurely night though....love the door decorations they looked great!

Dylan woke up bright and early at 5am!! That was too early to get up for me, so we brought him in bed with us and I think he fell asleep for a little while longer (I’m sure I didn’t get much more sleep) and we finally got out of bed around 7:20am. [Note: We slept in the bedroom – Mike & I had the bed while Dylan slept in the pack-n-play along the sliding door. Mike’s parents slept on the pull-out in the living room.] We got ready, ate some breakfast, and were heading out to Epcot at 9:20am.
We walked through an empty UK & Canada and then headed to ride Nemo. We looked around at the fish tanks after the ride and headed to MouseGear for a bit. We didn’t want to get into too much this morning since his parents were due in any time. Shopping didn’t last long with Dylan so we went outside and just sat on a bench and enjoyed the fountains and people watching and just being in Epcot. We were hungry for a little snack so Mike got himself a frozen banana and me a Mickey bar – Dylan shared with both of us.
I forgot that we ran into Max on the way to Nemo. Dylan's 1st character experience of the trip - no one was around.
After our snack I headed to use the restroom and on my way, my MiL called to say they were on DME and headed our way. We decided we’d walk back to BC and greet them as they got off the bus. We stopped to browse a bit in the Canada shops, but had to exit soon after since Dylan doesn’t like shopping. This was a theme for our trip this year. He put up the biggest fight to get into his stroller, but was usually fine once he was in there – as long as we were moving at a good pace – no stopping to shop with him!! We did catch a few minutes of the Canadian storyteller until Dylan said it was time to move on.
We made it back to BC before the in-laws arrived. We spent the time walking around the front and looking at the old car. Soon ‘Maw Maw’ & ‘Paw Paw’ were stepping off the bus! We headed to the room so they could unwind a bit and then we headed out for Epcot again.
We decided to walk through Epcot to grab a bus from there to AKL. On the way out we decided to go on SSE while we were there. Dylan had fallen asleep so my FiL stayed behind with him while the rest of us went on the ride. Once off the ride we found Dylan awake from his cat nap and we headed to grab a bus to AKL.
My FiL captured this shot on the way to the bus stop - I think we must have thought about getting a bus to AK then decided to walk through Epcot It's always so windy at the entrance to SSE!! Isn't that the sweetest thing you've ever seen!! Apparently the mulch was serving as a 'choo choo' here.
Great pictures Kelly! Glad you got to enjoy Nemo. Yes that sleeping picture of Dylan is the sweetest thing ever. The second you mentioned Dylan was content as long as you kept moving is the same with us, just a typical 2 year old ido love all your pictures. Dylan looks socute in his Sunglasses(we can't get Skyler to keep his on for 2 seconds). Sounds like Dylan was an early riser that morning, and Ill agree 5:00 am is too early for me too. Looking foward to more please.

Great update, Kelly! I can't wait to experience coming into WS through the International Gateway and finding very few people there. the rainbow picture!

makes me want to bite his little cheeks! I have to ask, where you planning to ride SE to make you go that way? Because I think it would be easier to boat over to DHS and get a bus from there. But maybe that's just me being lazy!
