Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Day 3 - Wednesday 8/13/08

Today was MGM day, but it was also EEMH, so we were in no rush to get there at a certain time of the morning. I have really been wanting to have actual food from Beaches & Cream (we've always just had ice cream) so this was definitely something I was trying to make happen!!

We woke up around 9am and met the Beltrans at the pool. A short while later Mary joined us and when we were about to wrap up the swimming, Jimmy finally joined us EJ really enjoyed the slide here and Mary and I went down twice (shhh!!). Of course Jimmy got in trouble because him and EJ went down together. (Boys love to break rules). We headed back up to the rooms around 10:30 to get ready for our trip over to MGM. (yes, I am still going to call it MGM, so get over it )

We arrived here with the intention of taking the boat to BC. The line was long and we didn't think we would make the first boat, so we came up with what we thought was a brilliant idea. . . . . The guys would take everyones ticket and get us FP's for either TOT or RnRC (whichever had a return time for when we'd be done with lunch). Well to everyone's dismay, the FP machine actually KNOWS if you used your ticket to enter the turnstile. I did not even think about this (I know, shame on me!) so when they put our tickets in, it didn't spit out a FP!!

We made it over to the BC around 1:30 and had to wait about 40 minutes for a table. It is like this no matter what time you come IMO. Our meal was really good. Everyone enjoyed their hamburgers and Mary and I shared a No Way Jose. This is my absolute favorite desert on property and she is a peanut butter and chocolate fanatic, so it was a no brainer!!!

2008_0815Image0059.jpg
Danny and I on the boat dock at BC waiting to return to MGM.

We finally entered MGM at around 3pm. So, much to my surprise (not!!) FP's were gone for RnRC and TSMM. We did (in no order whatsoever) ToT, Star Tours, Muppets 4D, and the Lights Motors Action Stunt Show. At some point during all of this, Marilyn decided she had enough and headed back to the room. It was very hot today.

After all of the above, it was time for our ADR at Mama's. We were seated in about 5 minutes and had a great meal. I've always had a good experience here and glad it was for my friends, too!! Mary and I shared the Chicken Flatbread and each had a salad. DELISH!! On our way out, unbeknownst to my travelling partners, I had my eyes peeled for the Loflin's. I couldn't believe I actually spotted them!! I saw Andy first, because Melissa's back was towards me. I walked over and of course it was like we already knew each other!! I told them about our time so far and they did the same. I can't believe I was too dumb to remember to take a pic with my camera. You can see a pic though, in their TR. I could have talked to them all night, but my family was waiting for me, probably wondering what the heck I was doing!! They were probably thinking " how can she know people all the way down here in FL?" LOL

We headed over to RnRC to see about the wait. We didn't want to leave without EJ riding, because last time he wasn't all enough and was bummed. It was an hour, but we knew we had to do it! He enjoyed every minute of it, which made it totally worthwhile . . . . . It sounds really cliche, but it really is fun to see the joy on a 7 year olds face at times like that.

Okay, so now it was around 9, and I knew MK was open til 11pm. Danny and I were itching to take our friends on BTMRR and we missed out on Mon and Tues. So, we went to the bus stop and agreed we'd get on whatever bus came first and then take a MK bus from there . . .. . Well, CBR was first, but that turned out to be a mistake because we then proceeded to make ALL 7 Stops around that resort. I figured a MK bus would come the quickest at the main stop, but we finally got off in like Trinidad or something . . . . . Turns out that was a great idea, because the next bus was MK!!! SO we hopped on board and you'll never guess what happened on our way to MK . . . . . . . It started pouring!! There was no way we would be able to trek through the MK in that. And the ride probably wouldn't have even been running!! So we had done all that travelling for nothing!!

We hopped off the bus and made our way over to the FQ stop. It was determined that BTMRR was just not meant to be this trip. We finally made it back to FQ around 11pm and we all went our separate ways for some shut eye. . . . . .

Up Next - How could we have done so little? And a fun, first time meal!!

Sounded like you had a great day dispite no FP's left and that the rain came down just as you had made it too MK....however, at least you can say you had a wonderful tour of CBR

Great pic of you and Danny at the boat dock...glad you were able to enjoy lunch at Beaches and Cream, it sounded like it was totally worth the wait.

I think I learned the little tidbit about FP's not working unless your tickets is activated on these very boards. Thom has suggested quite a few times that he run ahead in the mornings and grab FP's for this or that and I have to remind him that it won't work.

Glad that you finally got your burger and No Way Jose!

I haven't tried Beaches and Cream yet. It sounds wonderful. As soon as you said, that someone ran ahead to get FP, I thought "uh oh"

So sorry about the rain coming down in buckets. I am confused about why you went to CBR to get to MK. Why didn't you take a bus from MGM/DHS directly to MK? Or if you wanted to bypass the whole TTC you could take a bus to the Contemp and walk to MK.

Looking forward to more.

I havent tried beaches and cream yet either! Its a must do at some point for me....
I am glad to hear your meal at mama melrose's was great! I'm glad you got to meet up with Melissa and Andy too....
I hate that about the rain...i really do! I remember last year we were there for free dining and had plans to stay around for the illuminations show and walk over to the boardwalk...it began raining so hard that it was running down the pavement next to les chefs de france and then lightening struck and turned out the power..it was only 9:00 pm so we all looked at each other and said "okie dokie back to the resort"*LOL* but its like we stayed that late for the extra time but didnt get to use it...
I cant wait to hear more about the trip! Sounds like you guys had a good time this far...minus the rain

Great update, Amanda. Sounds like another good day. Now I'm dying for some Beaches & Cream, and it's only 10:30 a.m. Glad you got to chat with Melissa & Andy for a bit. Sorry about all that traveling for nothing. Not that it would've prevented the rain, but you could've taken a bus to the Contemporary/GF/Poly and monorailed to the MK, which probably would've been faster. Can't wait for more!
